  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) I'm thinking someone with late inning experience. Walker closed games for SF. Nomo hasn't pitched in relief. I was saying if the giants needed a trade for a useless 40 year old, we got NOMO
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) From today's Baltimore Sun: "Possible targets could include Detroit's Franklyn German, San Francisco's Tyler Walker, Pittsburgh's Ryan Vogelsong, Boston's Matt Ginter, Cleveland's Steve Karsay and the Los Angeles Angels' Kevin Gregg - all right-handers potentially available." If the sox added someone, they'd likely have to have a track record with some current Sox players, as they could vouch for that players ability to help the sox. Vogelson [mackowiak], And Tyler Walker [Hermanson, AJ] fit that bill. If the sox had any 40 yr olds to trade to SF, Walker would be a decent pickup for Hermy's late inning role. Hello, Hideo Nomo.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Not sure why he'd leave a powerhouse with great facilities that's easy to recruit at in a relatively inferior conference (remember, a Big 12 team hasn't won it all since Kansas in 1988, 8 years before the league turned into the Big 12). I guess he could leave Texas for the ACC, but he's be stupid to do it. Damn big 12 ,we had like 2 final four teams every year for a 3 year stretch and could not do s***. Barnes will go the ACC, because UT could not care about bball.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) Scheyer at Duke isn't going to be anything special, a "system player" is a perfect way to describe him, and he has nowhere near as good a shot as Redick. As for Collins, he'll be a hell of a player, but it's 50/50 right now if he will even qualify (although it's Kansas, so he will). Oden of course is the most dominant player and Budinger will fit in perfectly at Arizona, although he's so odd because a goofy looking 6'7 white guy SHOULD NOT be that athletic. The experts say Collins will get in, I have seen stranger things. The experts are going gaga over him, i mean hes 5"11 and close to 200. I cannot wait for him to join Chalmers, Rush and Robinson in the backcourt.
  5. GET UP STAR QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) I remember when it was in Ames. Why the f*** would someone put it in Ames?
  6. From Cynthia Tuner's Cynopsis Fox has ordered up another season of Prison Break, from 20th Century Fox TV. With its return to primetime in April, Prison Break has thus far averaged a 4.4/12 A18-49 rating on Mondays at 8p. I suppose people can only break out of prison so many times, and that's why next season will focus more on the officials' hunt for prison escapees. Other recent pickups for next year on Fox include Bones, House, The Simpsons (duh), Family Guy and King of the Hill.
  7. The game is tomorrow in san diego. I think its at 9 central time.
  8. So far what I have read the most impressive have been Kevin Durant, Oden, Darrel Arthur, Ellington, Cook and Budinger(the Napoleon Dynomite knockoff). Jerry Meyer is gushing over my boy Sherron, calling him the most impressive guard. He is also kind of ripping apart Scheyer, calling him a "system player", who is more cerebral than athletic.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) So it'll just be a bigger deal when we kick the ass outta the state of Kansas. Huggins will screw this up, and even if they get too campus..Huggins will teach them the wonder of DUI.
  10. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) To start: I like it. As it's been mentioned a couple times now, this is a guy who has been a far above average coach in a power conference, and he's been consistent to boot. It's too early to set my opinion in stone, but as I said: I like it. I think Barnes would be alot better than Sampson, less chance of cheating, and Barnes can really recruit the nation, not just juco's.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) As I said before, I'm very surprised at the hiring of Sampson. His name just isn't as attractive as the other names that we're rumored. Greenspan definitely wanted to make this his decision, and didn't really want to buy too much into what everyone else is saying. I've got to say the things about his programs being dirty in the past scare me a lot. Indiana's never had that, and I don't want that to start with this hire. I trust Greenspan did his homework on this, and won't have any of that nonsense brought into Bloomington. He's 2 for 2 on big hires so far (with football: Hoeppner and women's basketball: Verysp). Sampson appears to be a solid recruiter, and it'd be great to see him take some of his incoming recruits into Indiana next fall. Moving from a place where football comes first, to a place where basketball is all that matters can only help that. I hope Sampson comes in and begins recruiting the state like mad; there's no reason that we shouldn't be having those players in Indiana. I can't say it's the guy I wanted; no one even saw this coming. Just read an article that said Scottie Reynolds probably will go to IU with Sampson. also, I bet huggins and anderson wish this job was open before they signed at their new schools.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Wow, Jimbo and I agree on something. You know you're getting a good coach in Sampson. He's got baggage, though. Heads, we know the big 12, and are used to his thuggish style. He finds Juco big men who don't have much talent, but just beat teams down. I also believe he is going to leave the new coach at OU out to dry. IU better watch his long distance calls. haah
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) I wouldn't be mad if that were the case, but that'd be odd considering the quotes I read yesterday: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti.../603280421/1069 We can close this now.
  14. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) can't say i saw that coming. I feel bad for the new coach at OU who will have recruiting sanctions from Sampson on the horizon.
  15. Sampson is a thug coach who teaches his kids to beat up the opponent. He runs a really slow and boring system, and is known to be a bit "dirty" Horrid decision!!
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) The f***ingmachines.com girls were phenomenal. For those who didn't hear it, they had these girls from a website come in, and their deal is getting off with sex devices. Well, one of them was a chainsaw, minus the teeth, with tongues on it. They put it up to her happy place and fired it up...well, she was a shooter, and got Baba Booey right in the eye. It was one of his best shows on Sirius so far. For pictures of the devices, click on my Stern link. Howard has continued to out-do himself every week. This show is better than it has ever been. The Revolution is rocking! I so agree with you, it gets better and better.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) I think its the VP. I just know one thing, my favorite character has to be Aaron (Secret Service Guy). don't get too hooked on one charachter at the rate they are killing them off. I love Chloe's sarcasm.
  18. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Meh. The bad guys are still the bad guys and the good guys are the good guys. Kind of boring, imo. On top of that, how many explosions do you think I need to stay interested? And what's with Jack Bauer the Millenium Falcon? this was a bridge episode, no big news, until next week. is the pres wife a bad guy???
  19. Wow just wow, another awesome episode
  20. The dad is the informant, but what the hell does he have to do with the big picture....oh i love this crap.
  21. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) his slide into home looked kinda aquard.... he'll be ok hopefully precautionary....
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) V for Vendetta is the best theatre experience I've had in years. First-class. What a film. Its in my all time top 5....easily.
  23. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I am a little concerned with our bullpen situation, however I think these young guys will answer when the bell rings. Granted I haven't been able to watch many spring training games since I go to school in New Jersey, but I think it is save to say the only two pitchers in our pen that I have 100% confidence are Neal Cotts and Cliff Politte. I think Jenks will be fine once the season starts along with McCarthy, but I have my concerns with Thornton due to his control issues, and I haven't even seen Boone Logan pitch but have heard great things about him. However when you look back at our team last year, there were plenty of question marks. No one expected Hermanson, Politte, Cotts and Vizcaino to pitch like they did last year, and if you say that you did last march you're lying to yourself. Hopefully Thornton and Logan can get their acts together and prove they belong in our bullpen. Thornton will need at least a few months for Coop magic, i really hope our starters can last long in games.
