QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) How about you get real and quit blindly defending our manager, even after he has an inning from hell. You can't prove he's better than anybody, other than the ring the pitching carried him to last year. I'm blindly defending him? I don't think he's the best manager in the league, but I think its pretty clear he's not the worst in the league, nor is he even in the bottom half of managers in the league. One way or the other, look at the results. The team that he's managing has been the best team in baseball over the last two years, and is having a HELL of a year this year.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Name one worse. Actually John Gibbons is worse, so I'll say Ozzie is the 2nd worst manager in the AL. Still not good. Prove it. Unless you watch every single out in every single baseball game, there is no way you can justify calling one manager the worst in the league. Get real.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Ozzie Guillen is, without question, the worst manager in the American League. That last half inning was a fireable offense, even if we win by 5. Hardly.
-
Did WGN even show that? (not WGN, whatever) AJ

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) I think most of us just knew that out at home in the 2nd was going to bite us in the end of this game. The games over? Thats news to me.

Figures.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Not me. This is STUPID, regardless of what happens. Where is Thornton, or ANYBODY but Cotts. Thornton and everyone else is in the pen, waiting to be used in the later innings so Ozzie can play the matchups.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) WHY THE HELL IS COTTS COMING IN?? Ozzie is AN IDIOT, regardless of what this batter does. WHY COTTS, WHY WHY WHY??? Bulls***. If Cotts gets him out, he's a genius. If Cotts gives up a hit, everyone here attacks Ozzie.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) That was the LF's ball. Make a good pitch here Vazquez! Yep, I was just expecting a "BA would've caught it, f*** you Ozzie" post from someone.
-
BA wouldn't have caught that either.
-
Iguchi is one of the reasons why I think defensive statistics are full of s***. Nearly every one says that he's a pretty bad fielder, but he's made some spectacular plays this year.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Is Liriano still supposed to be a mid-September target? Yep, but he's supposedly going to pitch out of the pen rather than starting rotation.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) It was a rocket, one hop single to a charging Tyner in LF. I didn't see it, but I don't remember Tyner having a decent arm, and Gload has pretty good speed. I'd have probably sent him too, but thats without knowing where the ball/runner was when it happened.
-
I missed the first 2.1 innings (saw the DP!), so someone explain to me why Cora sucks this time?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Screw that, I finally saw Snakes on a Plane. Way more serious than I expected but it was still solid and it also had some moments where I couldn't stop laughing. Amazing movie, probably the best of the summer (although I haven't seen everything)
-
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Keep in mind that it's a sharply declining 4.47 ERA that was 4.98 2 starts ago. If he continues at that pace, a 3.50 or even lower ERA could be possible. I doubt he will, but something in the mid-high 3s is certainly a decent possiblity now. If he ends up with an ERA under 4 and 20+ wins, he'd be right in the thick of things. Unless the math that people have done in other threads is wrong, no it isn't possible.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) All I know is that in the past few years, I haven't seen anyone get as consistently booed as Hawkins, Patterson, and even J. Jones have. Jones was getting booed out of the stadium after about a week of struggling. Yankee fans boo A-Rod. Does that mean they have something against latin players?
-
QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Everyone knows about Mauer and Morneau, but Bartlett hitting 351 and Tyner 317, add Punto's 314 and that's five?? There's almost no sports media coverage of this lineup, just wondering why with these stats, seeing that we have only 2 regulars over 300 (AJ and Crede just under) and the sports media drools over our offense uh, Bartlett, Punto, and Tyner don't have enough bats to qualify, so its basically the same thing as saying Mack and Ozuna count as .300+ hitters too.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Ok, I'm a Broadway fan but one start at AAA means very little. It's nice start, but success at AAA was expected eventually. You are right in a way, but considering the fact that he was drafted last year, he's pretty far ahead compared to most people in his draft class, and I dont know how you can say "expected eventually", making it sound as if he's far behind in his development.

QUOTE(rowand @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Jon is this years Jose. and Yes, Jon Garland has the most wins in the MLB over the last 2 years. That would make him the best starter in baseball. Think about it, the goal is to win the game, and he has won the most over the last 2 seasons. He is the best starting pitcher in the MLB. No, no it wouldn't. It would make him a pitcher on the best team in baseball over those 2 years.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) John Garland > You. Jon Great all-around game for the team
-
Excellent job today for Jon and the offense. The team really played excellently today. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) Contreras is an ace. To each his own. I disagree.
-
Cintron should know better.. that's not his ball.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Why not? It's the same thing Jose did last year and everyone called him an ace. I'm speaking for myself, not everyone else, and I can guarantee you I didn't call Count an ace
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) He never gets enough credit from anybody, no matter what he does. And this isn't calling you out AT ALL, it goes for most of the board. He is having a hell of a second half and has carried this team since the rest starters decided not to show up, but that doesn't mean he's suddenly an ace.
