QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/.../white_sox.html That doesn't really answer the question though, since isn't that just AB/HR? It wouldn't really tell you if he's hitting them in bunches or not. -
QUOTE(Adam G @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) That was before Jenks decided to start sucking and Hermanson was DOA though. We had a great bullpen last year. No, it wasn't. I believe the comment was something along the lines of "Even if Bobby Jenks shows he's human, the bullpen still boasts Cliff Pollitte, Neal Cotts, and Dustin Hermanson" (which is foolish to ever mention because he's had a bad back since last year).
-
TSN also said that we had the 3rd best bullpen in the league, so take their predictions with a grain of salt.

QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) Wow what is SSH2005 problem? Are these just inside jokes I just dont get? I mostly lurk and not post but he seems like a head case What are you talking about?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) It's different, because Anderson, like Ozuna, has hit at almost every level he has been at during his career. Ozuna has always shown the ability to hit well against lefties, and in his longest and largest stint in the majors, Ozuna hit the ball well against lefties. What indication is there that he would backtrack. Was he hot for the entire year? Sure there is NO question that he could come out and hit .260 against lefties, but there is nothing to back up that assumption. Almost every level isn't the major league. There is a huge difference because the major league and the minors. And what makes you think Ozuna has hit lefties well throughout his career? According to Yahoo, his career splits against lefties is .278/.311/.317, which is far from hitting well. So considering that he hit .306/.340/.357 (still not that great in terms of overall production, but whatever), which is much higher than his career average, he is more likely to fall back to where he has hit them throughout his career.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) i dont see it ? Look closely.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Those are two totally different situations. No, its not. Its a small sample size, meaning absolutely nothing in the long run. The player could have just been on a hot streak for the small amount of at-bats, or a cold streak, or coming back from injury, or adjusting to major league pitching. If you want to think a sample of 98 AB's is enough, fine, but you're wrong.
-
Hey, Brian Anderson hit .176 in 34 AB last year. There's no reason to believe he'll ever hit higher than that.

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Damon, Jeter, ARod, Shefield, Giambi, Matsui, Cano... with Big Unit, Pavano bounch back year? Wright bounce back? Mussina. They're fine. I do think that the Yankees are a top 10 team in the league, but can you explain to me what Wright is going to bounce back to? He had 1 good year in his entire career, and that was in Atlanta, where all pitchers thrive (or so it seems). Literally every other year, he has been an average, or most of the time below average, pitcher. (the same can be said about Pavano, but he had 2 good years in his career) (and hell, what's Moose going to bounce back to? he's been average the last two years) (and yea, Randy Johnson is like 500 years old.. everyone wears out)
-
The Yankees have no pitching depth either, but they are mentioned?

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) I don't think Houston should be in that list (losing Clemens is a huge blow), nor should Minnesota. Since right now we are only talking about teams on paper, the Mets should be there, as should the Phillies. But yes, the AL is much better than the NL. Ignored QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) I fully expect Francouer to suck this year and suck badly. I agree completely
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Hey, would it be accurate to say that the AL has 7 of the 10 best teams in the majors this year? New York Boston Chicago Cleveland Minnesota Anaheim Oakland St. Louis Houston Atlanta Call me crazy, but that's how I see it. Put the Twins in the NL East or the NL West, and they're Division winners IMO. The Wild Card Race in the AL is going to be insane this year. I don't think Houston should be in that list (losing Clemens is a huge blow), nor should Minnesota. Since right now we are only talking about teams on paper, the Mets should be there, as should the Phillies. But yes, the AL is much better than the NL.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Then why don't you care less about them? It's "couldn't care less." That is one of my bigger pet peeves, it seems like no one says it correctly
