  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) So UCONN = Poli Sci George Mason = Communications, Sports Management. Yea, I was about to say that
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Well yesterday hurt me. I was rocking and while I was in 3rd in the ST pool I had the highest pt possibilities. That no longer exists and I'm pretty much s*** outta luck. Same here I've now dropped to a tie for fifth, and should continue to fall throughout the final games
  3. How long until TalkIllini pops up?
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Agreed. Thornton isn't the answer, IMO. Thornton shouldn't be the answer in anybodies opinion
  5. I wonder if Mark Buehrle will be an ace (he is!) Where's Geoff Blum?
  6. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Really close, but went with #2. Isn't that El Duque smoking the cigar, not Uribe though? I think they all were smoking cigars that day.
  7. Kalapses by far. Great work for both though.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) LSU > Texas Book it.
  9. Thomas is a beast. And it looks like he's hurt.. both hamstrings as he walked off the floor in the beginning of a timeout
  10. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) dropped the remote and picked up the controller for mgs3....nothing on until later anyway What is your avatar from?
  11. Its been archived in the 2005 Season in Review forum. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31950
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) That's why we're not General Managers. You can't get caught up on what they did for you last season. You need to take into account where they're at in their age, what position they plug for you, and how their salary effects your team. At least someone gets it
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) Well, without that "45" year old, we're on 89 years without a title. And you don't trade a guy that started game 1 of the ALDS, ALCS and World Series just because. Man, I'm glad some of you guys aren't the gm. The same can be said for Blum (agruably, since those games were in Houston), Everett (no other DH option), Rowand, El Duque (arguably, you never know what happens in that Boston series if he doesn't perform his magic), Thomas (the team was at its best when he played) etc. etc. etc.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) And then you would be calling for Kenny's head if he had another '05 like season somewhere else. No, I wouldn't, because trading him would have filled a need for the team. And even if he had another season like '05 (3.61 ERA, 15 wins), it wouldn't matter, since he's like 45 years old, and will be a FA after this year (and when he becomes one, we don't get compensation) so trading him and getting anything of value in return is a good deal.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) If he ends up with a mid 4 ERA, we really missed out on a chance to trade him at peak value then. Which is why I wanted to trade him this offseason for a good reliever and some prospects.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I think Contreras will be fine. It might take him a couple of outings to get comfortable mentally. From the reports in the media, it sure sounds like he was shaken up from the pain he had in his tricep/elbow. I think he'll be fine too... depending on how you define "fine". I'm looking for a mid-4's ERA out of him, and 13-15 wins. For Contreras, I think thats fine, but others might disagree.
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) Sounds like old Contreras. Me no likey. But.. he's a changed man!! There's no chance in hell he'll ever revert to his former self, which he has been for the majority of his career!
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:07 AM) Yes, refs are this bad. They've been awful all season, and they're having too much of an impact on the outcome of games. Why does everyone have to think that they're bad because they're crooked? I agree with you whole heartedly. The refs are bad, so what? It doesn't mean they are crooked. They are just human, and showing that they do make mistakes.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) I'm kidding of course. Or are you?
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) haha I knew this would happen, I would get all the semi-big games for my bracket. Then UConn will drop the ball and f*** me hugely. You say that for every game. Unless you have every team in the final 2, I doubt it would f*** you hugely Washington is looking really good right now.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) They played like s*** because they were playing a team better than they are. But of course, as soon as it got to 25-9, BC let up. BC builds up a 2nd half lead, lets up. They get within 3 seconds of a win, and let up. Unbelieveable bulls***, I can't really put into words how mad I am right now, I'm giving the nice speech in these posts, I'm actually a lot madder than it seems like. Nova would lose to every team that has advanced to the Elite 8 so far except George Mason. At least you aren't blaming the refs. Its a nice change of pace in 'Bracket Banter' to see people complain about the teams, rather than the refs.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) I am PISSED right now. I might have just lost 250 bucks I coulda won on a 10 dollar bet because Boston College can't f***ing cover a basic inbounds play. Maybe you should pick the right team next time then?
