  2. The funniest part is when you look at Soriano's home/road splits, then look at where he will be playing next year.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) This doesn't really make much sense to me. This is obviously a straight payroll dump by the Rangers. Wilkerson is a darn good hitter, but Soriano is better and it doesn't sound like they are getting anything else. The question is, where is Soriano going to play since the Nats have Vidro. This is a brilliant deal for the Rangers, but moronic for the Nationals. Not only do they already have Vidro, but they gave up a top pitching prospect, a good, cheap outfielder, and a good 4th outfielder in Sledge.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) I could buy a Phills Thome jersey for 30 bucks. Then I could take it to Triple threat sports and ask them to make it a Rowand jersey. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! Thats a great idea, and probably saves you a s*** load of money
  5. Technically its not offical for a little more than another 23.5 hours (EST at least), but yes, best of luck Frank. I will always root for you.
  6. Anyone know if he still gets a ring?
  7. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) What happened to the whole Mueller thing? Haven't heard much about it lately. http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review...e/s_401161.html Thats the latest news I know.
  8. Mueller has already supposedly limited his decision to two teams, Pittsburgh and the Dodgers.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) For you people without ESPN Insider....be happy you dont have to hear this. Well, I found it quite hilarious because of how stupid the guy is.
  10. QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) pujols for bmac? uhhh..... we just signed paulie 5/60 Pujols also plays third and leftfield
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) Straight from Kenny Williams' mouth, he has absolutely no interest in Juan Pierre. I just heard him answering the Pierre question on the Score on the latest update. Kenny said that because of Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens, and even further down the line with Chris Young and Ryan Sweeney, the Sox have absolutely no interest in Juan Pierre. Kenny said that he hasn't even made a single call to the Marlins regarding Pierre. That's it folks, either Brian Anderson or Jerry Owens will be starting in our outfield next season. I suspect a big reason for Kenny coming out and stating this is because the price for Pierre is ridiculously high now with many teams interested in him. The Cubs will have to overpay for his services. First time using this smilie, but it applies for my thoughts right now:

For some reason, I think this thread is meant to be green, but I'm not too sure
  13. The only reason I don't think this is that realistic a rumor is that KW has stated he's basically done in terms of bigs moves for the offseason. It could just be a plan so he can fly under the radar, but still. (this might have been posted inbetween the first and 8th page.. I'm too lazy to read all of the posts speculating on who the Sox would have to give up etc.)
  14. Do you have a link to this? If this is true, it'd be pretty cool
  15. He probably means Dye's single up the middle.
  16. QUOTE(toasty @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) da marlins just sure wanted gaby. I mean, why else would you pay ALL of the rest of lo duca's contract to the mets? Uh.. as far as I know, they didn't pay any of his contract..
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) You guys are right, and it's even worse when you realize that the Mets will be paying Lo Duca $6.25 million in 2006 and 2007. The Mets are so very dumb. Holy crap. I didn't even realize his salary was that high. This is actually a pretty funny trade when you step back and look at it.
  18. If the Twins sign Frank, I'm definitely going to some more Twins games next year while at college..
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) They basically replaced Piazza with a slightly younger version of Piazza without the power. They could have just signed Bengie Molina or Ramon Hernandez and not given up the prospects. Basically, yea. This is definitely a downgrade at catcher for the Mets, except if you look at who their catcher was before this trade, but considering the fact they could have signed either Molina or Hernandez, its a bad move for them, and a great move for the Marlins.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Well most Marlin fans certainly don't think so. They're tired of getting pitching prospects. Lo Duca was also pretty liked and believe it or not stats and ops aren't everything especially when it comes to catchers. This might be true, but its not like they got nothing in return. They got a pretty good prospect, and considering the fact that Lo Duca is 34 and his talent is declining, thats pretty damn good. He throws out 25% of the base runners who try stealing on him (hey, its an increase for Mets fans), and his defense isn't that great according to ESPN's scouting report (although they do think that Jeter is one of the best in the league, so they aren't always right). If he could hit, then ok, this would be a good deal for the Mets. But considering the fact that Lo Duca is old, bad at defense, and not special offensively, the Marlins got away with murder in this trade.
  21. Lo Duca isn't even that great a player. Career .756 OPS, including only two seasons with an OPS over .732. The Marlins got the better of this deal, so no, I dont find this BS at all.
  22. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) I voted for Hermanson. In this market of closers going for so much, I think teams that lost out would be willing to give up something for someone who had 34 saves and a 2.04 ERA. Hermanson is unlikely to even play next year.. any team that trades for him is just dumb.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Bears 17 Packers 3 So I guess the answer is 2. I was pretty close
