  1. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) If he can handle the bat a little he seems like perfect #2 hitter. Iguchi was a pretty good #2 hitter. In fact, he could handle the bat great, not to mention hit for some power, something Pods cannot do if he wants to keep his average high. Why decrease Iguchi's offensive numbers even more when he is coming off of his first season hitting outside of the middle of the order? With a year of experience hitting second, his numbers should improve on an already great first year.
  2. Magglio made 14 million a year in 2004, so Paulie's isn't the biggest on a per year basis. As for total contract, I'm not really sure, but Frank probably did get more at one point in time.
  3. Personally, I think thats a horrible idea. If Iguchi moves out of the second slot, he's moving down in the order, where he can swing for more power. If he's at the top of the lineup, it just takes away from his potential even more. Iguchi is a great #2 hitter for his ability to do just about anything with his bat, especially with runners on in front of him, and if he goes anywhere in the lineup, its down.

What did they say about Paulie in the few seconds they spent on him?
  5. So true Steff, but its nice to hear
  6. "Are you going to be good when you are 34?" "I hope so."
  7. He seems really happy about Jim Thome being on the Sox, great to hear.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) I thought that I would bump this. Pierre? :puke No complaints, especially if he's only used against lefties.
  9. Thanks for the time Frank. You dominated baseball for many years, and I cannot wait for the day when you get into the Hall of Fame.
  10. Welcome back Paulie, you are back where you should be

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) is it just me or does every other person around have a Family Guy avatar? My god.... Its just you. I only see two people with one right now
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Correct ... but with a great big HOWEVER .... This is Rose's final year of 'eligibility' under the HOF rules. After this year, he has to answer to what was put in place to replace the veterans committee. I think he'd have an easier time getting in via the sports writers than all the living HOF'ers. Exactly. Sure, if this were a few years ago and Selig allowed him to be eligible, then he'd be in without a doubt, but this is his last year. He's not getting in unless the veterans committee changes its mind
  13. Beware the power of the Rally Crede!
  14. QUOTE(Mansoo @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) what about this trade?? Hank Blalock,Adrian Gonzalez Joe Crede,Freddy Garcia Adrian Gonzalez has decent skill in 1B Hank Blalock>Joe Crede .............. That a joke? Horrible trade for Chicago.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Jones last year >>> Thome ever (simply because of Jones defense to go on top of all that power). Jones 2005: 160 games, 586 AB, .263/.347/.575/.922, 51 HR, 128 RBI Thome 2002: 147 games, 480 AB, .304/.445/.677/1.122, 52 HR, 118 RBI I'd take Thome's 2002 over Jones' 2005 anyday of the week. Hell, I'd take all of Thome's seasons, with the exception of 2005 and 1991-1994, over Jones' 2005. (offensively at least, and afaik, Thome isn't that bad with the glove either)
  16. He has as good a shot at the HOF as Pete Rose. He was a great player and is a damn good manager and person, but he just isn't HOF caliber sadly.

QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) who says it wont be us in a few years? by few i mean 3 or more Well, for starters, Brian Anderson, Chris Young, and Jerry Owens all say it.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) Actually, winning usually leads to making money...but I get what you're saying. Er.. yea. If you win, your team will be making more money, so you will have more money to spend on quality players, and have a greater chance at winning more
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) Name me the 4 teams in the Big 10 that they would lose to. If they went to Happy Valley, PSU would shut them down, as they did to Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan State, or any other team that came there this year. If they played PSU at Notre Dame, PSU would still likely win. They would lose to Ohio State and Northwestern (amazing offense, and with ND not having that great a defense, it would likely spell trouble), while Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, and Minnesota would give them trouble, and possibly take a game or two. Just my thoughts though.
  23. I'd rather win than make money anyday, although making money usually leads to winning, if you are smart on how you spend it.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Don't you love NFL Gamecenter?
