QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) i thought it was back problems? He's having problems with alot of things. Back and shoulder are two.

Don't get behind early. Be agressive on the basepaths, despite Molina having a cannon.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) learning this new bit of information I am all for letting Pauly go as well as Carla.. Use that money to sign H matsui stick him at DH have Anderson play RF and Dye plays 1b.. Lineup LF Pods 2b Guchi CF Rowand DH Matsui 1b Dye C AJ RF Anderson 3b Crede SS Uribe So.. Lets here how this is bad idea... Anderson wouldnt bat 7th for us, and is Matsui even going to be available? I doubt the Yankees would let him go if they had a choice. I'm still against Dye playing first for us btw

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Um, wrong. Dye hit 31 HRs this year, lets compare that to other 1B in baseball. 1.) D. Lee - 46 HR 2.) M. Teixeira - 43 HR 3.) A. Pujols - 41 HR 4.) A. Dunn - 40 HR 5.) P. Konerko 40 HR 6.) R. Sexson 39 HR 7.) C. Delgado 33 HR 8.) J. Giambi 32 HR 9.) J. Dye 31 HR This in turn means Jermaine Dye would have the 4th most HRs of any firstbaseman in the AL, and 9th most in all of baseball. Also the ML average for HRs by a 1B is 14, Dye hit 31; 31 > 14. Dye's power production is not a reason to not consider him for the 1B spot. This should still be the Sox' 5th option but you can't doubt Dye's power numbers. ESPN would has him 7th out of 1B. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/battin...in=17&ageMax=51

wtf are you on? Colon is hurt.. pitch count doesnt matter.
-
Colon won't pitch because of his back, not his arm :\ All that weight is a tough load for his back to carry..
-
I agree with you on the OBP point, but not the HR point. Only 6 1b in baseball had more HR's than Dye did this year. I do agree that it makes the Sox significantly worse though

Rally Crede gets a pass for winning some of those games down the stretch

I like the orange Bears jerseys

bah.. I have work during part of the game tomorrow

QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) Felix, Once again, that's another unfortunate statement from you! Can your Timo get 31HRs and 86RBIs in a full season? We are looking for some options in case Konerko is absurdly being way overpriced. I was talking about defensively, not offensively. Timo doesnt even get close to matching Dye's offensive power.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) It's shocking to me how some people just don't get it when it comes to baseball positioning. It's really as likely that Rowand catches? I call bulls*** on that. Dye already played 1b a game this season, and Ozzie has said he's comfortable with Dye at that position. This is all pure speculation, and Dye playing 1b should be about the Sox's 5th option next season. Timo played first this year, why dont we put him there? Wouldnt it be the same thing as putting Dye there?

a.) Paulie is faster than Frank Thomas, so how could Paulie be the slowest in the AL? b.) Molina is far slower than Paulie. c.) Ortiz is much slower than Paulie.

QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) While we are at it, which 2006 hitting lineup do you prefer? Lineup 1: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Overbay 1B Konerko DH Dye RF Rowand CF AJ C Uribe SS Crede 3B Lineup 2: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Dye 1B Manny Ramirez DH/RF Rowand CF AJ C Uribe SS Crede 3B Anderson RF Either is fine with me! Without a doubt lineup 1.
-
Randy is fine by me. Bring on the 4 HR in an inning!

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) While you could argue that the pitching really stepped it up, I agree. Widger + AJ > Ben Davis + Miguel Olivo. If only we still had Mark L. Johnson.... Some might say that the pitching stepping it up is thanks to the catching unit
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) since when do we have a spot open in the OF? In his scenerio, Dye would be going to firstbase, so RF would be open.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) God dang it PK pisses me off. He blows in the 1st half when we dont need him then goes on a tear when the rest of the team is stinking in the 2nd half but then is super clutch in the playoffs. 2/3....not bad, resign him. He and MB are obviously the glue in the clubhouse. Depends on what you mean by "he blows in the first half". His first half of the year had the same amount of HR's as the second half, and 10 more RBI's than the second half. He just couldnt hit for contact in the first half :\ But yes, he and MB are the glue in the clubhouse. Buehrle controls the staff and Konerko controls the offense. Losing either one would be a huge blow to this team.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) I got home and had to take my dog to the vet..what a buzz kill. I went from partying to mopping up his blood. He's ok...just a slice in his paw. I'll have to do some more partying today! Damn Geezer! I had to put one of my cats to sleep earlier that day I went f***ing insane after the game ended, I think I got the attention of the neighbors

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) I do... but you might attack me with your smilies if i tell you who I am.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) So CBS looks a lot better than Fox in High Definition? Because I just have a regular TV and CBS looks like s*** compared to Fox on that. I agree.. CBS looks like s*** everytime I watch it, and I prefer watching FOX much more. Then again, I dont like the AFC much, so that could be another factor in my dislike of CBS.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) That's great. It doesn't change that first base is the easiest of all positions to play defensively. Also, I didnt say it was the hardest to play, I said it was the most important.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) That's great. It doesn't change that first base is the easiest of all positions to play defensively. How many errors a game does the 1b save the other position players on balls picked out of the dirt or balls high and wide?
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) No. No, it's not even close. On a ground ball and the fielder throws the ball, who catches it to get the out?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) That comparison doesn't work at all. The move to 1B is one of the easiest around, when players get older and it becomes more of a hassle to move around in the outfield they can find new wind at a spot like 1B where there isn't as much movement. 1b is the most important defensive position on the field. I dont want someone who doesnt know what they are doing playing there.. but hey, thats just me. We need Paulie back next year.. if he goes, our offense goes.
