  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) How the hell are they basically 2 different teams? Good team at home, and a crap team on the road. Don't ask me. It's amazingly frustrating to watch because I know the talent the team had (when at full strength, of course), and we would definitely be a top 25 team if we consistently played up to that talent level. Unfortunately, certain people decided to do stupid things (steal from Macy's, fail their classes, assault some woman) and we're left with a roster that's fairly thin and can't really handle the ball. At least we beat Wisconsin, though!
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) Whoops Nice to see the Gophers pull out a win tonight. I, obviously, didn't think we were going to win, but it's great to see the team show some pride and beat our biggest rival at home in what has become a lost season. Really solid all around game and a blast to watch. "The student section had an edge, too, frequently mocking Badgers coach Bo Ryan with an obscene chant and tossing harmless objects at the handful of brave Wisconsin fans penetrating the sea of gold with their red wear. " http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball...no-14-wisconsin EDIT: Just watched some of the replay on ESPN 360... the "f*** Bo Ryan" chants toward the end of the first half were VERY clear and audible, as well they should have been. f*** him.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) It's bad that we're playing Wisconsin tonight and I'm not terribly excited. I'll be there, but there's no chance in hell we're going to win. 5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Do they normally show this much curling or is it because of the weather? I think it got fairly regular air time in previous Olympics, but I don't know for sure. Either way, I'm loving it as curling is probably my favorite Olympic sport to watch.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) Source? That would intrigue me, because we would need to sign a SF, so Gay would probably be on the radar. How would Rose-Hinrich-Gay-Jefferson-Noah play? POSTED: Feb. 16 -- 3:51 p.m. ET Jefferson Chad Ford: The Wolves continue to rebuff teams looking into the availability of Al Jefferson. A source close to the process told ESPN.com that the Wolves recently said no to a potential Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas for Jefferson deal, telling the Bulls that they aren't going to move Jefferson by the trade deadline, which is consistent with what Wolves GM David Kahn has been saying for weeks. However, a Deng-and-Thomas deal was the most realistic trade scenario we've heard for Jefferson. Jefferson was one of the first big names to get mentioned in trade deadline buzz when word came out that the Pacers had rebuffed an offer of Jefferson for Danny Granger. Since then, Kahn has been adamant that he's not trading any member of his young core by the trade deadline. Kahn has maintained he wants an entire season to evaluate the talent he has on the roster. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?p...alkRoundup-2010
  7. Sounds like Kahn said no to a Deng + Thomas for Jefferson trade. I can't say I really blame him, mostly because Deng wouldn't really solve the major problems we have with the roster right now. It should be interesting to see if Jefferson gets moved this offseason.
  8. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) They also have a much better head coach, although I'd be interested to see who the Bulls could get (won't be George Karl unfortunately Jason as he re-signed with the Nuggets for a further season the other day IIRC). I'm not saying VDN is a good coach, but Mike Brown isn't exactly a great coach or anything. He gets away with a lot just because he's got LeBron.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) If this has been posted, it's OK. It needs to be posted again. Joe Pos rocks. I was just coming in here to post that. Fantastic read by a fantastic writer.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) P.S. I LOVE Gus JOhnson and Greg Anthony together. I used to be on the Gus Johnson bandwagon, but after listening to him do more games on the BTN, it really struck me how moronic he is. His enthusiasm is great and really brings a lot to any close game, and I wouldn't have anyone else announcing a close overtime game in the NCAA Tournament, but for the most part he's just an idiot. I liked it better when I only listened to him in March and was able to mostly ignore him until the end of the games.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I love the idea of adding first round picks to go along with the free agents we can sign. It really helps us get deeper for the forseeable future. They just have to get at least one of the big guys in free agency. If the Timberwolves give up a first rounder for Thomas, I will be very, very disappointed. I actually think Kahn has done a pretty good job with the team right now, but trading picks in what is looking like a very deep draft for a questionable player like Thomas would be stupid. Especially since we've already got two power forwards, neither of whom Thomas would compliment particularly well.
  12. The hot rumor is now Tyrus Thomas to the Timberwolves: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-t...o&type=lgns I can't say I'd like this idea unless we already had a deal in place for Al, mostly because Thomas isn't the third big man we need. We need a defensive center that's a legit 7 footer, and while Thomas is certainly athletic enough, I don't think it makes sense to add him to play alongside Love/Jefferson. That being said, if it only cost expiring deals/bench players, it wouldn't hurt. I certainly wouldn't give up one of our firsts or any real talent, however.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) It'll end once the fascination with the new ball park ends. Which is in about 3-4 years. If Minneapolis actually was a small market, sure, I might see that logic. But it's not. Add in the fact that the Twins actually get all the revenue out of Target Field (something that wasn't the case in the Metrodome), and I don't see them suddenly pinching pennies again.
  14. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Let the baseball world continue to underestimate our starting pitching and our team, that plays right into Ozzie's hands. Sure the Twins have boosted their payroll, but that is temporary. Why would that be temporary? The Twins have always had the ability to spend this much on their team, but now that Pohlad is gone and they're opening up their new stadium, they'll be able to spend plenty on their team. Add in the fact that Minneapolis isn't a small market like everyone thinks, and there's no reason to assume this spending isn't going to continue.
  15. Gee, another loss. Good to see we don't want to take anything positive out of this season.
  16. I turned it on in time for the finals. It's a joke that Robinson won. Neither were outstanding, but I thought DeRozan was clearly better.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Crazy, Koreans were definitely colluding to try to keep Ohno out of the front btw. They were bumping him a lot on those passes. Fitting that they screwed themselves out of a sweep at the end. There was definitely a ton of contact on the turns between everyone. Pretty hilarious that Korea completely f***ed themselves at the end though
  18. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) wow. this dunk contest is horrible. I'm glad I chose to watch speed skating instead then.
  19. I look forward to the day of his Hall of Fame induction. He's the reason I love baseball today, and the reason I call myself a White Sox fan. Props to the Big Hurt on a fantastic career.
  20. It physically pains me to watch the Gophers these days. It's amazing how much of a disappointment this season has been.
  21. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) McNulty on "The Wire" and Boner on "Growing Pains." I thought about McNulty as well, but I tend to agree with bmags post. I really got pissed off at the writing for his character in seasons 4 and 5, which I thought was a shame given how good the rest of the series was.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) I know it is up for Best Picture, but I was shocked as to how much I liked "Blind Side." I thought it was going to be another cliched sports movie, but it obviously isn't done by Disney. Football isn't even that much of a story in it. Also figured Sandra Bullock was just getting nominated as a "Thank You" from Hollywood like when Julia Roberts won, but she was very good in it. Not better than "Hurt Locker", "Up In The Air", and "Inglorious Basterds", but I liked it a lot. It looked like a terrible movie. There's no chance in hell I will ever see it. If you liked the movie though, I strongly recommend the book. You might actually get the whole story that way. Note: I have no problem with movies chopping storylines from books, but if you're going to do so, I only ask that you change the name of the movie; that being said, I obviously haven't seen the movie and am making assumptions (which have been reaffirmed in conversations with others who have seen it) based on the trailers.
