Any mistake by this team turns into a disaster. -
QUOTE (rangercal @ May 15, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) Considering Braun got 8 Years/ 45 Mil Braun proved himself over the course of almost a full season last year and for the same timespan Q has this year. Q is a lot less proven, may be injury prone and plays a less valuable position 3b>>LF. Of course Q will likely be our future rightfielder. Still, 3b>RF. If Kenny waits until the end of the year Q will probably command a pricetag of 8 years 50-60 mil imo (given Q keeps up his current pace). Braun is basically a left fielder now. I doubt he will ever play anywhere else and Quentin is a better defensive player than Braun. But looking at Braun's number last year...that's crazy what he did. The rest I agree with.

AJ had a week to throw that. Cabrera made a great play just to catch that. -

QUOTE (Felix @ May 14, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Being at college over the summer is awesome. I don't get why people go home, it's so much better on campus. I stayed here last summer, and it was amazing. Of course, this summer I'm going to be out in Utah working, but still... Unfortunately I only spent one summer at Marquette, but that was the most fun I've ever had in my life. Really doesn't matter where you are though. Friends, booze, and....booze. Awesome. For as much of a degenerate drunk as I am, I can't believe I've never posted in here before.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 14, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) Not as many as you think. He'd only be leading off in the 1st inning. Yeah I get how lineups work. Unfortunately he'd be batting after Uribe who is no guarantee to turn the lineup over or get on base. I actually wanted CQ leading off before Swisher was named. But right now I find it troubling that we are trying to take the best hitter and lead him off.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ May 14, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) Why not lead off with CQ? Certainly he has extra base ability and has been hitting the cover off of the ball lately. I think he has the tools needed to lead off. My problem is that he is also the best hitter on the team right now and leading him off would only take away RBI opportunities.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) It was funny because I was watching the game with a friend I went to an 80's party with this weekend for about 5 innings. She was all dressed for it and I told her she "looked like a Duran Duran groupie". We both laughed and agreed that was rude of me to say, since Duran Duran was irrelevant even by 80's standards. So the game is on tonight, and shortly after I leave to go home, they show it's Duran Duran doing the 7th inning stretch. Immediately my phone rings and we laugh for about 10 minutes. /random story Anyways, Boers and Bernstein have been masters of Cub predictions this season. First they said how the Cubs would sweep Washington, and they lost 2 of 3. Then they said they'd sweep Cincy and they lost 2 of 3. Now, they say "Shawn Estes will get an ass waxing tonight" and the Cubs lose 4-3. Stay hot, fellas. They also said they would destroy Livan Hernandez during the playoffs last year. That didn't work out.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2008 -> 11:33 PM) Sox have had some meatballs this inning from Weaver, but they just can't get it done. Every out was a straight fastball down the middle it seemed. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 13, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) If I'm a Texas fan, I feel like puking after seeing what Danks has done so far this season. Is BMac still on the DL? And Masset has been good too. -

I'm calling a "Danks realizes he isn't going to get support" blow up this inning. Of course I'm wrong about everything. -

A few days ago I said that Juan never tries to go the opposite way and it's really just luck for him. I have to say I was wrong. He is the only guy on the team that is trying anything new. Unfortunately he isn't very good, so the results are basically the same, but still. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) Now the hitting coach is the toughest job in baseball according to Foghorn. "If I went to six right handers and asked them to move closer to the plate, how many would listen" Foghorn "None" Muppet Then fire him, if no one listens to him then what is the purpose of having him. Well if everyone on the team can't hit and the hitting coach is giving them advice and no one is listening, then either the coach has no respect or the players don't care. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) You forget, he is throwing the changeup. The pitch that hawks says looks like a fastball, but slower. I love that explanation. Well what's the point in trying if the pitcher can throw at different speeds. Looks like trouble for Danks. -

QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 13, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Is weaver looking that good. We looking that bad or a little bit a both. Don't have WCIU out here. Everyone is seeing a lot of pitches. Weaver can't locate breaking balls real well. Lucky for him, throwing straight fastballs on the outer half is enough to destroy the Sox. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) anyone else having problems with Firefox and gmail? gmail is working just fine in IE and Opera, but stalls in Firefox. I just checked it on Firefox and had no problem.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 13, 2008 -> 05:40 AM) I remember a person was calling me out for being worried about Buehrle and his big drop in velocity (did he even hit above 86 last night?)... Well, I'm smarter than you I noticed in the second inning that he was only hitting 85. Then I though that either the gun was slow or the Sox are going to have a tough game. I then went to sleep.

That's not what anyone wants to see.
