  1. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) the whole season it's been about how were still better than the Tigers, how were the defending world champs ect... well this past stretch, and especially today should be a big slap in the face to the team that they aren't Mr. Incredible I hate to think it, but I get the feeling from our team (pitchers mostly) that the don't care as much as last year, and they just think they can cruise along right back to the world series Ken Harrelson kept saying how the series was good for the psyche of the Tigers, well now their riding on the top of the world after winning the series, and the Sox are trailing behind now that we've gotten a taste of losing, we should start to realize that we need to step it up to keep competing in the AL so I think this loss will actually help our team get back together and hit a stride for the rest of the year THE IDEA OF SOX FANS TURNING INTO CUBS FANS IS PROVEN BY YOUR STATEMENTS HERE...
  2. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) I've never been a big fan of Hawk, but the last 2 days he seems to have lost me. Yesterday he talks about how there's no pressure on the Sox and all the pressure was on the Tigers. Since they're the first place team that is young and beating expectations it's hard to believe that's true. Last year I remember him saying that there was no pressure on the Sox because they were in first place and teams had to catch us. Well now we're in the exact opposite scenario and he flip flops. How can anyone take this guy seriously? I guess he's right at some point in time because he takes both sides of an argument. Heck, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Today he's talking about how Vazquez made the wrong pitch at the exact wrong time. No kidding. And judging by his 5+ ERA and the way he's pitched over the last 10 starts, he's made a lot of wrong pitches at the exact wrong time. Why? Because Vazquez stinks. Hakw is playing it off like Vazquez has been pitching great all year and this is one of the few times he's gotten burned. Ummmmm....no. This guy has been a victim of the big inning all season. What kind of analysis is Hawk giving? The guy gave up a grand slam in the 6th inning of a 1 run game against the team the Sox are chasing. He's been giving up big hits all year. This isn't because Vazquez has been making the right pitches and gotten beat, but more like he's made a ton of 'wrong' pitches. Bob i love hawk but his excuses are getting much much worse. i agree with you.
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Call me crazy, but I still believe he's going to win some big games for the Sox. He's a more than decent 4th/5th starter in my opinion, despite not pitching particularly well lately. He'll NEVER win a BIG game for this team.
  4. QUOTE(zach23 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Actually you just described the problem of modern day sports. Because of the internet and 24 hour sports programming it is harder to enjoy the game now. Every little detail is beaten to death on message boards and sports blab shows. 20 years ago you would simply watch the game and read about it the next day in the paper and that was that. Now every little thing is blown up a discussed to death until people are going crazy. It used to be a lot easier to just watch the game, and either enjoy a win or just deal with the loss until the next day. The bad thing is, the internet is addictive and it is hard to stay away from the insanity. WRONG!! you'd talk to you friends about the game and you'd probably say that freddy sucked the big one tonight and all of our starters have big question marks. don't kid yourself. the only pitcher on our staff that doesn't really suck is bobby jenks. and that's scary.
  5. Buehrle is NOT an all star this year. Verlander should have gone over him.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Politte was designated for assignment after tonight's game. He didn't do a very good job tonight. Hopefully Kenny makes a move that will better this team FIXED.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Watch us score 3 runs here. I'm really gonna be pissed if we do. 10 was enough to win this game if ozzie actually managed to WIN.
  8. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) We just trash our manager instead. when he deserves it, you're damned right
  9. f*** YOU CLIFF YOU PIECE OF s***!! OZZIE YOU CAN KISS MY ASS FOR GIVING THIS GAME AWAY.
  10. you know we'd actually win more of these types of games if ozzie didn't let his pitchers stay in the game and get f***in pounded. if the game was actually managed right we would be in the lead. thanks oz
  11. Plaschke basically was agreed with ozzie slamming eddie munster, minus the choice of words. Michael Smith said baseball shouldn't step in. not alot of back up for jay on his own show. also i was expecting tony kornheiser to be sitting there with a grin on his face during PTI saying "ozzie's right"
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Hawk...not on our side.......? Brain....cannot....compute POST OF THE YEAR!!!
  13. eat s*** joe. they don't have easier plays than that one. I hope the rest of u finally stop that gold glove talk
  14. this team is in a freefall just like the second half of last year before they pulled it together. I don't think our pitching is god enough to pull us out this year.
  15. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) 1. We are 12 games above .500 2. DJ has gotten much better at play-by-play in the booth 3. Crede continues to swing a hot stick 4. Garland has come around and is pitching better than anybody on our team, save contreras YAY!!!!!!!!!!!(positive part) let's all stick our heads in the sand and pretend everything is perfect. THREADS LIKE THIS MAKE ME SICK
  16. I'd like to see Scotty Pods in center and Mack in left when he plays. That should help our defense.
  17. Is the sky fallin? Nope. Are this teams weaknesses getting more and more magnified everyday? You bet your ass! This team has some HUGE holes. Im sure kenny is on the phone. but we have no bullpen besides bobby. no complete cf and a starting staff that is dreadfully underperforming. also it looks like we just jumpstarted the indians season and the tigers are leading us. im unsure if this team can actaully turn it around. i hope they do, but i can't say that im sure it will happen.
  18. Mack needs more starts and Cintron needs more starts at SS over fat Juan
  19. I just spit my soda on my screen. KUDOS OZZY
  20. Ozuna is a butcher in the outfield. How many balls has he misplayed this year. bad defense but good offense is the jose valentin era whitesox. and we dont' want to be them.
  21. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Win at all costs by raping and pillaging the farm system? Joe Crede sucked pretty bad for about two years, so I guess he'd be shipped out? Anderson? f*** him, can't hit above .200. Cotts? Man, remember that game in New York? Garland? Mediocre. You prove my point that you're an ignorant fanboy all too well. rape and pillage? i don't call trading a guy that will never help your team win a world series, for bullpen help raping and pillaging? obviously your life sucks bad enought to be the "tough talking message board guy", so these are my last thoughts on the subject. Anderson-4th outfielder Garland- one year wonder Crede-playing for contract what about danny wright? where's mckay christensen? what about super joe borchard? scott ruffcorn? rodney bolton? jon rauch? the great one year wonder mike caruso luis andujar arnie munoz? and the names go on and on spout all the names for me you'd like gutless wonder. the best you got is mr. one year jon garland???? looks like you'll have to take his sausage outta your mouth to respond. looks like the sox disagree with you as charlies ass we sent packing back down to the minors. now please give us a rant on kenny williams and why this was wrong.
  22. QUOTE(Grindersrule @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) He'll still get his ring when repeat. BEST LINE YET!
  23. never should have started in the first place. good riddance.
  24. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) All of you idiots calling for Haeger to be shipped off with no return are complete and utter fanboys. One start, one mistake is all you people need to s***can someone. He was obviously nervous as hell pitching for the World Champions in substitution for arguably the best pitch in all of baseball. If anyone thought he was going to be gangbusters and pitch even relatively well was naive. This guy is 22, has 20 starts above A ball with a knuckleball and he's a "scrub" already? Does anyone get second chances in the universe you live in? He was obviously upset as he was routinely yelling at himself after f***ing up. You're theorizing taking our best piece of the bullpen now and throwing him out there for a mere start when it's obvious we need him in the pen. If Contreras is out long term, then by all means McCarthy should be in the rotatioin, but to toss someone aside after one start is mind boggling. You know what McCarthy's numbers were after being called up for the first time? Less than stellar: 25.1 IP 31 H 22 ER 9 BB 17 SO Who else are the Sox going to throw into the fire for seemingly one start? Tim Redding? Lance Broadway? And what if they fare the same as Haeger? Where do you go from then? You people simply cannot judge someone on one start or you'll have a revolving door 25 man roster. Asinine. get your lips off of his behind and your tongue outta his ***. he IS a scrub. he's a gimmick pitcher. he's at best an innings eater on the tampa bay devil rays. he doesn't belong on this roster. with the off day they could have skipped JC's spot in the rotation. THAT would have been the smart thing to do. so lets see what happened tonight. 1) we lost 2) used almost everyone in the bullpen 3) the bullpen blew up 4) we lost i guess we just differ. u preach patience and losing baseball. i'm a win at all costs kinda guy. u take the rookies and i'll take the established starters.
