  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) What are you talking about? Part of me thinks Ozzie doesnt like playing second fiddle to anyone. Part of me thinks you HATE our manager.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) If Ozzie's beating a kid down for being cocky, what happens in the kid's head when he makes a mistake? Suddenly he's looking over his shoulder wondering if he's going to be benched...he's not just trying to play the game and work over his mistakes, he's afraid to make them in the first place. I had no idea it was in our manager's job description to babysit our prospects. Beckham can take his lumps, he is a mature guy. Why should we baby our players around? Should we treat him like Mark Prior and praise the ground he walks on? Shold we relase Fields immediately so we can allow Saint Gordon to snuggle up to his new position without any competition? That seemed to work out pretty well for Rex Grossman and his ego. There's nothing wrong for Ozzie to expect more out of rookies and youngsters. They are here for a reason, if they can't take the heat then have fun with the Knights.
  3. QUOTE (RoyHobbs @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) Can anyone shed some light on the real reason Ozzie doesn't like Beckham? Ozzie loves Bacon. Seriously, these are how rumors get started.
  4. Is Blackjack really b****ing that Beckham sat twice? Once 2 days after he was called up with no sleep and the other a double header? Talk about jumping to conclusions. Ozzie must really hate Beckham.... is he serious? I've heard no negative comments coming from Ozzie on Saint Gordon. If anything Ozzie was actually kinda being sarcastic that everyone thought this call up would be the second coming of Longoria, except 10x better. Kinda of a mirrored opinion from McDowell.
  5. Bitter much? At least he held true to his word, in the beginning anyway... I remember that 4 HR game against us like it was yesterday. Definitely a lowlight in my whitesox fandom career. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/arti...sp&c_id=mil
  6. I still can't find for the life of me the last time these two teams met up during the regular season. This is the White Sox first trip to Miller Park no? First inter-league series these two teams ever had? Damn, MLB really screwed this up as these two teams should be playing one another close to every single year.
  7. QUOTE (sweatpants @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) The Brewers are my 2nd favorite team and I've been to about 40 games at Miller Park and tailgating is a blast up there and I really like their ballpark. Unfortunately I don't think the weather's going to hold up for tailgating though. Supposed to rain tomorrow night and storm on Saturday and Sunday. The good news is they have a roof. Where do you see this? 20% chance of rain tonight, scattered showers 40% chance of rain on Saturday, 72 and clear on Sunday.
  8. Going on Saturday and Sunday.... can't wait, even though the Brew Crew has a real decent shot at sweeping us in our current condition. Anyone know the probables? When was the last time we played them up there? I wish we broke our our 1990 gear and wore it up against their 70's-80's gear. Hell, even have Pat Listasch and Big Hurt throw out the first pitch for ole times sake. Tailgating promises to be a blast with all the Sox faithful making this trek.
  9. Bad News... looks like it could be another week at least. Carlos Quentin, LF CHW News: The Chicago Tribune reports that Carlos Quentin is not confident that he will be able to be activated off the disabled list when he is eligible Wednesday. "You always hope for the best," Quentin said Monday. "I don't want to get caught in a timeline on where it's at. We'll see when we get there." Analysis: Quentin hasn't played since May 25 because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He was walking around the Sox's clubhouse Monday morning without the limp that he had last week, but he didn't pronounce himself fit to return. Manager Ozzie Guillen suggested last week that Quentin could benefit from a short minor-league rehabilitation assignment. When healthy, the slugger is a must-start in all leagues, but it seems like he is still at least another week away at this point -- if not longer.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) Joe Cowley predicting a firesale coming. Why do really give two s***s what Cowley predicts? Is he EVER right?
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) Cowley's Twitter: God, I can't stand Cowley. What a clowndick.
  12. What do guys think his immediate impact will be? I am debating on wheter or not to drop Manny Parra for him in one of my head to head fantasy leagues.
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:32 PM) What if we are at 5 games out by the end of the month.. That's something we can make up in 3 months. You are thinking this team can compete with the Brewers and Dodgers right now? Nevermind the Cubs, which I am sure we will manage to wake up as well.
  14. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) That's what I've been saying for the last few days. I'd rather him trade our stars for prospects rather than our prospects for stars. It's gonna get ugly in the farm system again if we somehow end up taking 4 of 5 from the Tigers. and who's to say we even have 1 decent Major Leaguer in our Farm System? We won a WS without a farm system, we re-built another division winner without a farm system. Why is trading the farm such a bad thing if you can contend in a s*** division? Have we honestly lost anyone that will be a All-Star from a farm trade when we trades the pieces in 2005 through now? Everyone cried about Chris Young. He Blows. Everyone cried about Gio. BLOWS. Who is to say Poreda, Beckham, DanksII won't be much of the same. This board falls way too much in love with prospects. They don't win games today, and they don't win games tomorrow, but I guess they are cool to brag about on messageboards. whoa, a lot of rambling there. I'd imagine there will be a lot of fights at Sox/Cubs this year, as we both suck and will struggle to find fodder to hate with against fan foes.
  15. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Obviously not, but they need to let the front office know they wont stand for this s***. How about averaging around 12-13,000 for the upcoming Dodgers series? That *MIGHT* send a message.
  16. Worst team in the majors. period. I think there are some College WS team that could kick the living s*** out of the Sox. At least they have heart. I wish I was a Washington Nationals fan right now. They still lose, but at least they want to win.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) In his press conference, when Ozzie says "Beckham", it sounds like "Bacon". No Ozzie is actually calling Beckham "Bacon" I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand thay he has a real nickame other than the local adopted favorite 'Slayer'
  18. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) ps, where did this beckham/bacon thing come from? i musta missed it. It's his nickname.
  19. WTF? Milton Bradley who has a HUGE history with umps and generally being disrespectful to the game gets his suspension reduced to 1 game and Dye has to sit for 2, when he didn't even touch the ump.... admist his hottest hitting stretch of the season. Bulls***.
  20. We once had all hoped for 8-4 and now it would be a miracle if we did .500 on this homestand. PATHETIC. I don't think I've ever witnessed a White Sox team that is so offensively limp at home.
  21. I can't believe we go ahead and win 4 straight series and then get dominated by the A's of all teams at home.\ So much for that 8-4 homestand.
  22. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) Might be a joke from people listening to the Score. When Ozzie says Beckham it sounds like bacon. No, Ozzie was actually calling Beckham "Bacon"
  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) But you definitely don't want 15, that's the curse of the Betemit. The Tadahito Iguchi legacy overrides the Wilson Betemit "I can't field groundballs" curse.
  24. I'm actually kinda paranoid about ordering a jersey with his first Major League number in fear it might vchange next year. I guess it's all gonna depend on what the kid says.
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I agree him wearing #1 would look silly. Give the kid 6. Six is good. I like six. #6 would be cool. Nevertheless, I think I'm gonna call Triple Threat Sports today.
