  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:10 AM) Fail. As for what is most frustrating, I will agree with others that it is our seemingly epic inability to hit pitchers we are facing for the first time Youre right how could I forget about all those clutch quality starts we got from him in must-win games. Then again he did have plenty of 10-12 strikeout performances and ate up a lot of innings when he was already down 5-0, so we must give him credit for something positive. While we thought we were getting a great value in the market, Javy was laughing all the way to the bank and searching for a desitnation to retire with his family. Vasquez was a more of a ME player than OCab and Big Hurt combined.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I can't wait to see Betemit get 2 errors tonight. The Sox have 1 error as a team within the last 10 games.
  3. Letting Pablo Ozuna go. Extending Javy Vasquez and then failing to trade him for higher value. Thinking Jerry Owens is a baseball player, let alone Major League quality. Continuing to sign ex-Royals pitchers thinking Coop can fix them. (At least Carrasco worked) On the opposite side of things... things that bring me joy. Getting rid of Chris Young before he proved worthless. Getting rid of Brandon McCarthy before he proved worthless. Completely fleecing the D-Backs again before Chris Young started to suck and letting them think CQ was expendable.
  4. The plan all along was to hope to get a half season each from Contrereas and Colon. Enough already with the ETDB haters.... the guy has earned his chances and patience.
  5. with events and activities like these planned all summer, I can only hope they have all ticket windows open for the abundance of walk-ups that are surely going to head to the Cell in herds. I remember when we used to have *decent* promotions.
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ May 28, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) I hope we don't see him until September at the earliest. I'd rather we wait until next year anyway, but he'll probably get the call in September. exactly this. I can be pateint enough to see him on the Opening Day roster in 2010. If he gets the call-up this year, we'll already be in real deep s***, and then to make matters worse lets go ahead and put extra pressure on our young prized phenom to pull a team out of a funk. No thanks.
  7. FWIW, Levine mentioned Cain on the Afternoon Saloon yesterday as well...adding it could be a very good fit especiallyif we could dangle a Nix or Getz in their direction
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) The Brewers have one quality starting pitcher. If they don't trade for another one (Peavy?), there's no way their pitching staff will hold up. The Tigers right now have got a very strong pitching staff, and they have a decent pitcher in Bonderman waiting in the wings. Oh, and if the Sox could play the Pirates 17 more times this season, I'd say they'd have a better chance at making a run. Also, the Cardinals are a much better candidate to win the NL Central than the Brewers. Have you seen the Brewers offense since Weeks went out? Hopefully Carpenter and Wainwright can stay healthy, and Ludwick/Ankiel return. The Brewers have one thing they never did though, a closer. Their offense is no concern even without Weeks, and where the Cardinals are also very good, they also have their question marks and health concerns all over the field.
  9. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) With the Pirates coming to town and both teams not playing well Ummm... the Bucs are 7-3 in their last 10 and just had a 5 game winning streak snapped yesterday.
  10. I actually hope the Cubs still get the clowndick and he has to pitch at the Cell in the very near future. Somebody had best pray for him on that day. Karma is a b****, Jakey.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) It's not perfect... but just enough to give us all boners. Make sure you tell people, "Steve9347 made me cum." Nice work except for the fact that it looks like he just got rocked by the Twins in the Hump Dome.
  12. So what do we think kids, do we know the fate before we hit the hey tonight?
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) I'll say it again. Some here still should still eat crow for ripping the poster on the main site for originally posting this deal. They must have meant the Padres. The only team that matters to them that starts with the letter P is Patriots.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) It would be interesting to get Peavy and still end up with Homer Bailey as a 5th starter. And by interesting i mean badass. We had our lone chance on him.... Bailey is kicking ass and taking names down in Lousiville, the Reds aren't gonna even think about still moving him with the potenital that rotation has.
  15. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) the Denver Zoo has a free day...and trust me I would rather pay than to have all those anklebiters running around getting me all sick Spared no expense.
  16. QUOTE (WCSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) It's overpriced ($35 per day), but not at all overrated. Holy crap, $35 for admission to a zoo?? Do they let you ride a gorilla?
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) the last thing that happened involved in a game I can remember was Canseco's signing Also Pods and AJP getting voted into the All-Star game.
  18. I've gone from intruigued to excited to optimistic to really annoyed in a matter of a couple hours.
  19. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) I just wanna see "Peavy" on the back of a Sox jersey right now!!!!!!!!!!!! I have Triple Threat Sports on hold
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) Peavy is a top 5-10 starter in baseball. Freddy was never in that tier. I am going to have to disagree here. Well that's a safe assumption from Bruuuucee. He did report though that the Peavy rumor questioning on wheter or not he could play for Ozzie was false.
  21. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) George Bell if he did say Yes what day you think would be his first start....i am coming home tomorrow and plannin on going on saturday...i might want to buy my tickets now I'm guessing his first start would be Saturday. Move Burls up a day for Friday, Peavy starts Saturday.
  22. What's the record for members on this board at one time and have we been anywhere close to breaking that record this morning?
  23. I think we get an answer before the game starts today... and hopefully we get to see him deal against the Pirates this weekend.
