QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) I respectfully disagree. The best chance the Angels have of coming back in this game is with a couple of walks leading up to an extra base hit. I'd rather go with the guys who we can trust won't have as good of a chance as walking the first two batters as they would getting the first two guys out. i disrespectfully agree!

QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) RUN AJ RUN!
-
i agree the injury has something to do with pods' ineffectual running. you can tell because it's not just the jumps, it's his overall speed. he's just slower than he was a few months ago. confidence doesn't make you slower, it messes with your decision-making. so even if he's not using it as an excuse, it may be the case. sometimes players don't like to admit they're struggling cuz of physical limitation.

man, i'm so sick of them bringing up the interference calls. it's not like the game is close or something, jesus

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) People forget that these guys all sucked before. While all 5 have plenty of god-given talent, that just ain't enough to get it done on this level. You can't tell me that Coop isn't damn near Mazilli-esque when it comes to shaping and molding pitchers. AJ is as clever as they come if we're talking about game-calling skills, but in the end, the pitchers have to execute. I can tell you to hit a particular spot in the strike zone, but it doesn't mean jack s*** if you can't actually execute the plan. Do you listen to Boers And Bernstein? It seems like Coop comes on for interviews once or twice a week. He is always talking about his sessions with Jenks. Do you recall when Bobby first pitched in a Sox uniform? Has he not drastically improved since then in terms of mechanics? I wouldn't support Coop the way I do if I hadn't heard millions of his interviews. The man just reeks of smarts. He has impressed me as much, if not more than K-Dub. But AJ is important, don't get me wrong. He is sort of a defensive coordinator, but he can't teach guys how to pitch more effectively. That's Coop's job. We have to keep this guy at all costs. right on!

Haha! Good call. Ozzie likes Scoscia too much to do it though. Damn him and his "respect"!

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Coop cannot leave. We already have a big part of the White Sox family leaving after this season. Can't let anymore. i must have missed something...who's for sure leaving after this season?

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) So should KW write a book (Billy Beane style) for: Raping Ed lynch to give up Garland Raping Billy Beane to give up Cotts Raping Colorado management to give up Uribe Raping Mariners GM to give up Garcia Raping Cashman to give up Contreras ---------------------------------------- You know, KW might actually make it to the series with this team, and Beane has never even got there. forgot about Jenks off waivers Jon Garland is the studliest stud since Mark Buehrle!

QUOTE(Allsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) I apologize if my post sounds crass but after reading some of the posts about the ALCS, it seems that people actually had the audacity to think they were gonna score some and that's simply not the case.... haha, guilty.
-
i should probably also say, i don't think last nights call should be the reviewable type. there's too much live action involved, and it's waaaay too close to being a ball/strike call. even if they hinged the argument on the ump's signals, what're you gonna do? just assume paul would have tagged him out? that'd be unfair the other way.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) There are simply some plays in baseball that are screaming out for instant replay, I don't care what you say. Fair versus foul balls...that's the definition of what Replay is good for...especially on a home run ball, those can change an entire game, or even an entire season (Crede last year). Lots of times the umpires will get it right...but there are just so many cases where it could be useful...near-ties at bases (especially home plate...Jason Kendall), or even something crazy like last night, that I think it'd be worth the extra 5 minutes per game. But yea...last night...the call would have been completely inconclusive. It still is. yeah, i was beginning to wonder if i was the only sox fan who remembered crede's "foul" homer. i don't see how replay on those types of balls would demean the game at all. it's not as though it's a split-second judgement call, or a subjective rule like a strike zone. there is no live-action play at stake with long balls in the stands. i'm definitely in favor of home run/foul ball replay. and to be totally honest, i'm not sure we should rule out tag plays that are called horribly. my only concerns are that a) you have to limit the frequency. one challenge per game, maybe. B) you have to limit the duration!!! even shorter than football. the game of baseball is a little slow-paced as it is (as much as i love it). you'd drive away prospective fans if you made them sit around even longer. c) NEVER EVER TOUCH BALLS AND STRIKES!!!! that's the human part of umpiring that i love. it changes the entire dynamic of a game to a huge degree from the first pitch. anyhow, just my thoughts.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) was a microcosm from ending it in the 9th with a 2-run jack. He hit the f*** outta the ball (again). That and Jose hangin' tough after a horses*** 3rd and a huge mistake to Andersen. One of the things they did show on BBTN...all of Andersen's jacks recently...the pitch was pretty much in the same place...low and in. So...for as pissed as I am....I think we're gonna bounce back. AJ will WILL this team to a win (as long as he stays on the f***in base). honestly, it's hard to disagree. but it's weird pinpointing this entire game on one swing of the bat. there were countless situations in which the game switches sides one way or the other, but therein lies thes strenghts of both teams: they can both prevent momentum swings at a moment's notice, and they both have throughout the season. basically, whoever gets off to the hot start is likely to win this game, unless one of the second-tier relievers comes into the game. that said, we have to beat the hell out of jarod washburn and his throat infection tomorrow. hit him in the adam's apple, i say! that's how we win the game

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Still.. the "coolness" of the Urinal and the "parking garage-ness" of the Cell in the article perplexes me. Has he been to a game in the park in the last 2 or 3 seasons? i'm pretty sure ripping on comiskey and the new soldier field is a sports-writer's staple. they probably teach it in journalism school, or coney island community college, or wherever they go...

:banghead man, i got on AT twelve, and the screen said "less than 10 minutes" which is encouraging, sure, but it hasn't updated once since....seems to me i'm screwed. and of course i was auto-redialing via phone and never got through c'est la vie, i'll just join the pile of screwed folks so who's giving me their tickets?
-
mine's said "less than 10 minutes" for like 10 minutes...that mean i'm just too late, since its not even giving me a real number?
