Am I the only who thinks this deal wouldn't get done because the SOX wouldn't want to do it? The dropoff from Buehrle to Harrell is much, MUCH worse than the dropoff from Rasmus to Pierre. Doesn't really make our defense that much better cuz Q is still in right. Plus, there's no way Kenny's trading off a starter at this point in the offseason, no matter how desperate the Cards are (and I don't believe for a minute that STL isn't panicking a little right now). I mean sure, if someone makes a stupid-ridiculous offer that's guaranteed to put us over the top immediately, then sure, Kenny will pull the trigger. But he has an offseason plan and it's very clear that the 5 guys we have are integral to it. I mean, really, are we better off this year with a decent upgrade in the outfield and a giant hole on our pitching staff? I think we're just so offense-starved as a fanbase that we're willing to overlook how important pitching really is.

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) I understand the whole WS drought thing, but the Cubs have made the playoffs 3 teams in the past 10 years, which is more than the other team in their market. They occasionally have real s***ty years but over the the past decade, they have spent the money and competed, nothing like KC/Baltimore. Also, Chicago is about 92,000 times bigger than KC and 24,342 times bigger than Baltimore. Also, Wrigley field. Bars. Lots. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) Because Danks throws with his right hand? How dare you, sir! Oh right! See, I was the kid who never noticed Link was left-handed either. Someone has to point these things out to me.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Actually, the Bruce Banner impersonator is AJ. Upper left: Kinney Oh, that looked like Danks to me in the tiny version, so I never clicked it. They both make the same funny underbite face when they pitch.

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) I can't wait to get some new pictures from this season ...can't wait to go to Az. ..can't wait to bake in the bright hot sunshine with a strawberry lemonade (awwwwesome at Camelback!!) and a hotdog with everything on it and maybe a beer or two ..wiping sweat from my brow, listening to the crowd and the pop of the bat cracking the ball ..I may have just had an orgasm ...just saying! ..Hopefully this season I won't nearly be hit by a piece of candy Ozzie Guillen tries to throw to the kid directly behind me ..if it weren't for my legit dodging skills, I would have had to bum rush the dugout and teach him a thing or two! LOL I never mentioned it before ...but I'm a ninja on the side ..kind of a hobby I picked up! Damn, I've got to marry me a ballplayer!

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) WTF is an NL Only hitter? I mean, I can understand an AL Only hitter because he needs to DH and can't play defense (Jim Thome), but NL Only? WTF? Umm, is the NL reputed to throw more fastballs? I don't know if I've heard that or not, but I doubt the FB% is different enough for there to be "NL-only hitters"

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
ScottyDo replied to soxsoxsoxsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think signing Albert Pujols to a 10/$300 contract would be stupid, but I wonder how much it harms baseball, in that smart teams can use their money more wisely and beat the tar out of teams like the Nationals that blow their wad on one or two guys. It almost seems like an opportunity to outsmart some idiots. Of course, my theory doesn't hold true if these bloated monsters change the rate of inflation. Then I'm wrong. Actually, I rescind the above paragraph and substitute Kenny's opinion. You're welcome for the worthless post. -
QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) My two cents...a lot of air traffic controllers would tell you that Midway is not safe. That being said, its still an airport that is used. Personally, I stick with O'hare, even though I live closer to Midway. I've never heard that. Have there been any accidents?

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110221/ap_on_...es_steinbrenner That's Hank btw. I read this just a little while ago and then stumbled on this thread. I wonder what Hank has to say about this. lmao @ a salary cap being "communism". I'm sure if he had his way, the Yankees would be the only team and they would play the Washington Generals everywhere they went. -
??? I'm sorry, I must have forgotten about all the deliberate torture and bait animals endemic to hunting. I'm far from a hunter (I've never been and I'll never go) but the two are in different stratospheres of suffering.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) One could make the argument that in the south, as well as Vick's circle, dog fighting is an accepted practice, the same as hunting. Also, culling dogs that don't fit the breeders standard happens in all breeds, from sled dogs to show dogs to hound dogs to protection dogs to herding dogs. However, dog fighting is illegal. I wonder if MB would shoot a lion if given the chance, despite it's illegality? I don't think you know what dog fighting really entails.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
ScottyDo replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Does anybody think that maybe they want Sale to have some time with a ML training staff and a year or two of age to fill out that frame before upping his innings total? -

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) Chris Sale in Glendale I got this on my phone yesterday, I was reading it to Chase, lying on the couch in his lap.. his phone was by my head, it started going off from a text message.. he looked at it and said "It's Chris" ...I just looked up at him like "Chris who?" ...then he said "He wants to know where the mound is!" I laughed my ass off then told him he's retarded! hahahahaha it was so hilarious, I wish you guys could have been there!! It's strange to think that Sale has never even been to spring training before, he's so firmly entrenched on the team. I guess he wouldn't really know his way around Camelback. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) again, outside of Bos and NYY I imagine every team's fan can have a similar complaint. Like somebody said above, the Cubs got little coverage on MLBN last year near the end, people didn't even falsely pump up the good record Quade had on the national level. I watch a decent amount of MLBN, they tend to cover the Sox well. Even though some of it is mocking him, they always go crazy when they're going to cut to a Sox highlight and Hawk is saying one of his tag lines or even if he's silent when something bad happens to the Sox. Plesac alone gives them a ton of coverage on nights he's in the studio. Imagine what Brewers fans must be thinking, to add Greinke and Marcum in an off-season and you get some decent coverage on it... those are two MAJOR additions to a pitching staff, ESPN would have made the series 31 for 30 and added a documentary about the process of acquiring those two if NYY did it. If you're talking national attention than the NYY belong with those 3, if you're talking this year, I highly disagree. The NYY have some major flaws, beginning with that rotation and I think Jeter is going to continue to age and hurt them, not to mention 18 or so games just got tougher for their pitching staff because the O's did a nice job of improving their offense. I know I may get flamed, but everything being equal and the divisions they are in, I like the Sox chances of winning their division better than the NYY. Outside of the NL East and slightly Boston in the AL East, I don't see any team that is just head and shoulders above the rest of their division, I think it's going to be an excellent year for the division races and many teams are going to be involved, the White Sox certainly amongst those teams. I got your back on this one. NYY pitching suuuuuuucks. Just imagine if Sabathia went down. I might pee my pants with glee. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) By the way, the same wins poll last year pretty much nailed it, as I recall. The bell curve peaked right around 88 wins. Can't find the poll now though. I have a feeling this year's poll is going to have a much narrower spread, since KW basically did what we wanted, collectively. I guess we'll see how good a herd of GM's we are. We'll also see if a lower S.D. means a more reliable prediction or anything (although you can't really get more accurate than exactly right, can you?).

Sox to go with four man rotation to start the season?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) The Reds had Arroyo, Cueto, Volquez, Leake, Bailey, Wood. The Giants were able to add Bumgarner mid-season. I'm not saying you have to have a stud "sixth" starter. But we could pluck somebody from Subway and they'd give us just as good a chance as Lucas Harrell. Are you suggesting we sign Jarod? I hear he's in the best shape of his life. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) What? We don't have half of a starter? Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Peavy, and Jackson equal nothing? I think he heard the words "pitcher" and "our system" and his blood started to boil. -
Is Ozzie Guillen's "Yessssss" kind of like Ed McMahon's "HIYOOOOO!" Cuz it seems that way.
