QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:04 AM) This could be like last year. Can we stay in the race til Peavy comes back? Last year we acquired him and team sucked balls and was out of it when Jake came back. You've got to figure he'll be out at least 6 weeks. Cmon. He had the fluid, now this. He's out a while. Hudson ... we NEED you to pitch well. Sweaty Freddy has been a great No. 5 but we don't need two No. 5s. We need Peavy-type excellence. For SO many reasons. This is our chance to get him to prop up his trade value enough to make him the centerpiece for a trade if JFP is back by the trade deadline. Otherwise, we need him to perform for more traditional reasons.

Gah! SO CLOSE to leading the division tonight! Tonight was not a good night for teams named after birds.
-
I'm listening so I didn't see Pena's performance, but I think we should give him his due considering the situation. We're winning this game with 2 runs and an early exit from our starter.

Freaking Tigers win too. WTF, can today be over yet?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Damn tigers tied it up. AHH! what a horrible 10 minutes...

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) I long said Daniel Hudson would be used more than most people realized. Well... there you go, though I thought it would be because of Freddy sucking, not Peavy. Good chance that this means no impact bat. Double-whammy....

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) OFFTOPIC: LeBron to announce his decision Thursday 8PM, 1 hour special on ESPN. heh. Riiiiidiculous. The NBA is so silly.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) fathom beat me to it, but what the hell was that by Alexei? How do you take a straight fastball like that right down the middle for strike 3? That was a pitch Alexei should have ripped. DJ seems to think he was distracted by Pierre's antics because he was ducking as the pitch was delivered to get out of the way? I dunno.

Baseball happening! Hurrah!

Dammit, thanks for NOTHING, Toronto! I'm never putting maple syrup on my salad for Canada Day ever again! Go, you Orange Birds!

Lame! It's barely rained down here in Carbondale at all, why don't they play here? That would be so much more convenient for me. I'm e-mailing Brooks.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) Shingo was on a replay of "Unbeatable Banzuke" on G4 today, it's a Japanese gameshow with wacky challenges, Shingo was riding a giant rubber ball around an obstacle course I don't even know how to express how happy this makes me.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) It was a two run shot. WHATEVER! Point is, he's the best player ever to don a uniform!

Dweezy with a 3-run, go-ahead homer vs. the Twins! He continues to help the Sox even after he's gone!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) or the smartest Probably both. This is simultaneously the most intelligent and most negative fan board I've been to. Love it! There are just a billion reasons to worry about everything in baseball, and I think we make a pretty exhaustive analysis of the team, so we're neurotically worried all the time. What's not to love about that?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Haha i'm just giving Ozzie Ball crap. Law supposedly hates us because he's always getting on us about our bad farm system. I am not sure if he actually hates us, that's just the word here so I go along with it. While I can't remember the specific articles that make me think this, I feel like it's been preposterously evident that he has a grudge against the team because of the way his opinions shift the moment the Sox are involved. I bet if we traded for Fielder, he'd suddenly be a useless piece of trash in Law's eyes. The baseball philosophy argument makes sense, though you'd think he'd try and be somewhat impartial because he is generally a good baseball mind. I don't know what he would be accomplishing by rigidly endorsing one point of view over another. Weird. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) "Andruw Jones is said to be in the best shape he's been in for a decade. This could wind up being the best $500,000 the White Sox ever spent." lol well he DID get us a few wins early in the season, thus keeping us from blowing up the team. maybe that's worth $500K?

I don't think we should stop. Alternatively, I propose that we get it, get it.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Hmm two unignorably obvious points that happen to favor the Sox. He clearly loves us. Does anybody know exactly WHY he hates us so much? Does he have a problem with Reinsdorf or Ozzie or something? I mean, he's obvious enough about it that I feel like it has to be personal on some level. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) Jim Leyland is a horrificly bad manager. Overuses his pitchers, doesn't have a clue about using a bullpen. And he's older than dirt. If White Sox fans hate Ozzie, then there is no word to decribe Tigers fan's feelings towards Leyland. I'd take Guillen 8 days a week over Leyland. As someone from Southeast Michigan, most of my friends are Tigers fans, and you are absolutely right. They HATE Leyland, and make some pretty persuasive arguments as to why. If you think Ozzie makes some headscratchers, just try watching Leyland for a full season. That said, probably Gardenhire by a slim-ish margin

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Why does Ozzie continue to use the last guy on his bench so often? First it was Randy Williams and now Andruw Jones. Dammit Kenny...get him some tools to work with here. Umm I believe he has played in 2 games in the last 7 or 8.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Yes I am sure Ozzie Guillen is folowing our advice ... NOT I don't think I suggested that he looked at anything we've said, I'm just saying if we're going to rip him every time he uses his bench, maybe we should give him credit when a pinch runner comes around to score, or when someone clamors for Viciedo and Lillibridge (can't believe I'm even bringing up his name positively) and gets it.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Dunn has said numerous times that he does not want to be a DH. Well that's too bad for him. Everybody knows he can't play defense.
