QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Everything in the entire sport is sponsored. Why is this so surprising? It's not, and that's my point. The motivation behind starting this trophy is more clear now. There aren't operating costs associated with making a trophy beyond the $50 it takes to get the thing made, so the clubs get money for nothing.

Is K/9 not a peripheral or something? He's at 12.38. Jebus, people.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) InsideTheSox: #WhiteSox, #Cubs & BP announce creation of the BP Crosstown Cup, which will go to the yearly series winner. Ahhh, BP...so there's sponsorship involved. Now it all makes sense!

i dunno, why not? i don't personally give two craps but it's pretty common in rivalries, and this is certainly one. doesn't hurt anything.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I think it might be a mentality thing. Like he lets his guard down when he has two outs and then gets into trouble. Or he just decides he'll play around with his secondary pitches and eventually ends up getting pounded. I think I agree with this. It really does seem like he takes a different approach with 2 out. Lots of balls that aren't that close. This is why I'm not anxious to get him off the team, though. He'll fix that mentality, just like a slumping hitter fixes his mentality. If his stuff looked like it was gone, then I'd say dump the contract, but it really doesn't look that way to me.

What does it mean that Bobby's been getting 2 hitters out, then letting 2 hitters on? Do the two outs make him great? Do the two hitters he lets on make him awful? Likely, the truth is somewhere in between but I don't think we should just ignore that he's capable of getting outs.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) How come we're going with lefties two days in a row in our rotation? Isn't that kind of dumb? I think it's cuz the d-rays were batting like under .200 against lefties coming into this game. also cuz freddy garcia is not reliable.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) they are doubling us to death more like it DJ's making it sound like the doubles were bloops down the line

listening to the radio feed (stupid WCIU)... hey people who get this game on TV, are they really blooping us to death like DJ makes it seem?

If you think Ozzie doesn't love Andruw Jones, you're crazy. Judging by the way he interacts with Andruw, I think he has a bigger man-crush on him than Kotsay. I would be VERY surprised if the AB's didn't fall out in Jones' favor over the next two weeks. Of course, if he continues to plug Kotsay in there as frequently as he did to start the season, that would be a very dumb move but I don't see it happening unless Kotsay shows a spark. The reason this has been an issue at all is because Ozzie thought he saw something in Kotsay, and you don't make managerial decisions based on immediate dividends, since baseball is a game of odds. This is about the time (2ish weeks) that you can see if your move made sense or not and adjust accordingly. Jones in, Kotsay out. I bet that's how it shakes out. If not...blech......

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) Konerko is our most patient hitter.. sad isn't it. I dunno, Ramirez has seen a lot of pitches today Now THAT is sad! -
QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Considering how much he will cost, it isn't exactly a ridiculous assumption. I think KW is well aware that he can't afford him without severely hampering the team, unless JR finds a couple hundred million lying around somewhere, of course. best...laundry day.....EVER!!!

OT: that AT&T commercial that says "The Internet makes everyone smarter" is horribly offensive to my sensibilities. That is just a downright lie. -

That looked gone off the bat. I wonder if the ball is just dying out there or if alexei lost his power. -
Ozzie convinced he'd get another job if fired

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) I'm not that worked up about a lot of this. This is Ozzie being Ozzie. Let him have his say, let him manage the ballclub, and we'll see how things work out at the end of the year. I do find it more then questionable that he called out Manny Acta. That's not cool, you don't do that to another manager, especially one managing in division. Even the reporter, who presumably goaded a name out of Ozzie, noted that he brought up Acta's name "reluctantly". He didn't attack Acta, it's pretty clear if you read the whole article, but that will be the spin on it. -
Did the Sox score too many runs tonight?

You're looking at it all wrong, we scored the right amount of runs on Tuesday to let us score 11 yesterday. lets hope for a shutout today so we can score 20 tomorrow! -

Nope. -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) And if he hits .250 and belts 30 homeruns someone will undoubtedly complain that he's "all or nothing" like they did with Thome. Possibly, but at least he's right handed :lol Seriously, though, even if he does, he also plays plus defense. Though, to be fair, Thome still plays a plus DH.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) Does this mean Danks is actually going to get some run support this year? Nope, they just spotted him this year's 11 runs. He's gonna have to get negative runs from the opposition if he wants another W.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) A blistering 673 OPS, 27th in all of MLB. On the bright side, fans in Cleveland, Seattle and Houston can all collectively be more frustrated than Sox fans. That's grim company. Although I wonder if we lost a spot or two based solely on yesterday, which I think we can all agree was due to pure domination by Romero.

Tried to watch the cubs lose to pass the time...failed. Also, that Cubs song (hey Chicago what do you say? cubs are gonna win today!) is possibly the worst thing that's ever happened to music. i've farted better melodies than that. better lyrics, too.
