  1. Amazing! I'm just glad we're not playing Texas this weekend. Now THAT would be a pretty mammoth series.
  2. the only way we're gonna climb back in it is by beating the twins, so keep them wins comin'! i don't care how stressful the 9th is as long as it's a W worth a full game in the standings. ok, i do care a LITTLE, but you get the point. EDIT: Also, congratulations to juan pierre on his first XBH of the season! someone give the man the game ball
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) Alexei continuing his amazing game. We have to have the worst 2b/SS combination in the history of baseball. ????????????????????????????????????????
  4. not a hit with RISP so it doesn't count! /green
  5. q-bomb???????? maybe i should stop calling stuff
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) Did they ever show Beckham's check swing? i never saw it, no. im pretty sure he went.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Our hitters need to stop b****ing and just foul off these close pitches. Your AB shouldn't be put in the ump's hands. agreed
  8. I thought Paulie's glove was the one to come off there. There was a lot of swearing.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) 8 LOB. Terrible. They say the best offensive teams are the ones with high LOB totals!
  10. maybe he can suffer some mysterious injury and hit the DL for a little? I dunno if that'll help but it might.
  11. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I would like to take this time to point out Wilie Harris has a higher OPS than everyone besides Jones/PK/Rios this season. Thank you for your time While we're at it, Uribe: 0-0, 4BB, HBP, R, RBI. LOL.
  12. imitation bieber. this kid is the vocal version of spam, we can't win with this!
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) At least he put the ball in play. he hit it hard, that's nice to see. not exactly revolutionizing his image or anything, but it's better than what we've seen for the last month
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Do a hit-and-run, I don't even care if it doesn't work! Well played, sir!
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Who said Nix can't play third, huh? I'll be your witness, you told us he could play.
  16. I wouldn't be opposed to a minor league stint (Nix is a fine replacement). I also wouldn't be opposed to just dropping him down in the order, though. Edit: you're totally right, though, he needs to get the pressure off him, and BAD. I have no doubt he'll be a fine player this season but he's gotta get out of his own head.
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) The bad luck was Alexei at the plate there. All kidding aside, Alexei is usually fantastic with the bases loaded, you can clearly see how much he's struggling at the plate. okay, a LOT of people would have done the exact same thing Alexei did on that pitch, I don't think that's as big a deal as the poor-approach DP's we've seen of late. That's getting beat, which is fine...a lot better than watching 3rd strike or overswinging, then popping up/grounding softly. That was an alright AB, with a bad result. Besides, given our past results, we should be glad to score 1 run on bases loaded 0 out
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) The wish of Teahen and Vizquel on the bench has been granted. We'll see how it works out. Romero trifled with us last time. Eveland has gotten us twice already, so let's hope we can solve Romero and get the split and take some momentum into Minnesota. Romero was pitching OUT OF HIS MIND last time. I don't see that happening again. Although, we're not exactly kings of adjustment. We'll see.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 9, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Would somebody explain to me why Ozzie left Peavy in for the 8th? He had thrown over 100 pitches through 7, and we had a 6 run lead, yet Ozzie decides to leave one of our most important assets out there for what ended up being 120 pitches in a game that was already over. I seriously wonder if Ozzie actually wants to be fired with the job he's done this season. The game itself was awesome though, great one to be at other than the weather and Peavy's stuff was wicked. 120 pitches isn't a crazy number. I would have taken him out but he didn't Dusty Baker him
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 9, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) Guillen really thinks the flippy hit thing is important to manufacturing runs than taking pitches and making pitchers work. I really want to punch the grindy originator in the head. per the trib "His job is not to hit .350, his job is to do what he's doing right now — play third base, play second base, play shortstop a little bit. Omar has been great. He is what he is, and it's not easy. Especially early, maybe a little later he'll play some more. He has been very professional, and I'm very excited about having him." .... So young guys who do not know the MLB just yet are expected to handle this but for Omar it is not "easy........ Guillen says lots of things. Until he starts playing Vizquel more, I don't believe a word of it. Also, why NOT play Vizquel when he could easily be replacing someone who is playing s*** baseball too? At this point, what's the difference between him and half our team?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2010 -> 07:16 AM) David Ortiz and Mike Lowell. And Boston would be picking up 85% of the salaries for those two guys. /green? I hope?
  22. What are the odds that P-Kon lets himself get traded? I haven't heard much on the subject. Has anybody else?
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:48 AM) The Padres are offering Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Dexter Carter, and Adam Russell for Jake Peavy. Do you make the move? absolutely not. he's jake peavy, let's not lose sight of that fact.
