  1. Even throwing out the ass kicking that JS got in his brief MLB appearances last season, Kopech put up numbers at every level which were SIGNIFICANTLY better than Steiver.
  2. Yeah, guys who got their feelings hurt tried to physically hurt and injure people to make up for their hurt feelings, yet today’s players are sissified... the irony is deep there.
  3. "Sissifaction" and hurt feelings over players enjoying their accomplishments, all in the same post. The hypocrisy is strong in this one.
  4. Who is going to trade something for the obligation to pay Kris Bryant 25 million next year?
  5. It isn't that simple. They essentially ran a complicated tax scam that put the Cubs into a complicated ownership structure which eventually will pass the team through as a tax savings. Because of this structure they can't just pay off the team debt. The debt has real world consequences for the team through the MLB rules on team debt and spending.
  6. This right here. Bauer is a lockerrrom problem. Machado is a lockerroom problem. Kopech has off of the field issues. Tony is all of those things, and worse, but he is going to lead us? Um, sure.
  7. Sounds like it was months earlier than that. They have traced back to September in Italy. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-italy-timing-idUSKBN27V0KF?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook
  8. If Kopech or Stiever was offered to the 29 other teams, Kopech would get picked 35 times, no matter what his problems are. Million dollar arms are quite literally what wins games in MLB.
  9. Ironic when you look at who we just hired as a manager, after firing someone who "made a good impression" by all accounts.
  10. Andy admitted to it, though said it was for rehab, FWIW. Even without that, I would put him in the MB category of good, but not quite HOF.
  11. He made $18.6 last year, and is probably due in the $25 million range if he goes to arb this year. He was terrible last year, and mediocre in 2 of the last 3 years. He is also looking at a contract that not many teams have space for right to add in a trade with all of the covid stuff going on. Unless the Cubs worked out a bad contract for bad contract type of deal, I can't see a team taking that kind of money on naked of risk movement right now. In an ordinary year, they probably take another chance. This year? I get the feeling it happens.
  12. The burden of proof here isn't on him. All baseball wisdom would place Michael Kopech WAY above Stiever in valuation. It is up to you to make a case or prove otherwise.
  13. They took on SOOOOO much debt to make the buy of the team happen, that their debt load puts them up against the MLB ceilings.
  14. I am just going to say it. Kris Byrant will be one.
  15. There isn't really anyone on that list that I would say screams that they must be an absolute HOFer. I think if I had to pick some, Andruw Jones and Billy Wagner would top my list. I think Schilling kind of fit into the Harold Baines feeling of close but not quite (at least until Jerry got him in) I love Mark Buehrle, but I just can't squint and see it. I would never vote for Bonds, Clemens, Sheffield, Sosa, and Manny because of their peak drug usage. A.J. Burnett, Michael Cuddyer, Dan Haren, LaTroy Hawkins, Nick Swisher, Shane Victorino and Barry Zito should be one ballot and off guys.
  16. So far the results are that we are the laughing stock of baseball, a major free agent said he wouldn't sign here, and a top coaching choice wouldn't come here. Smashing successes so far.
  17. The big question is could someone like Kenny and/or Rick be looking else where after Jerry screwed them on the TLR pooch.
  18. But apparently still not good enough to pick his own manager.
