No idea if that changes things or not. I mean it all comes down to how much money teams have left in the period starting in four weeks, versus what is available in the Jan 2022 period. From what has been said, no one really has money in the Jan 2021 period left, so unless he wants to take a pretty big haircut on his signing bonus in this period, he might have to wait for the next one.

We are on to the second generation of these signings now. The Alexei Ramirez signing happened 13 years ago, yesterday. The Viciedo signing happened in November of 2008. Jose Abreu was in October of 2013. It is officially a pipeline.

It would be foolish to think they didn't all talk when we know how much recruiting work has happened in the past. Heck we have seen Colas thanking Moncada for sending him bats and wearing Sox shirts in his vids.

I have definitely spent time thinking that between all of the Cuban players we have, and Marco Paddy, that there well may be a big board that exists somewhere in the Sox organization which anticipates when certain Cubans are going to come available on the American market. In fact I would be mildly surprised if they don't. I have also spent time wondering if when it gets to Jerry's level if there is an aversion to signing the super young players, so they do plan on leaving room for the Cuban kids as they come free. So if a kid they thought was coming over doesn't make it in the right "class" (say Colas was supposed to be here in the Yolbert class) which is why they end up with oddly large leftover funds at times, it kind of makes sense. Is that what is happening for real? I have zero idea. I would be interested to ever find that out though, because it would make more sense than they just are that bad in Latin America minus Cuba.

Wow, if the Sox figure out a way to put both of those kids into the system in 13 months, that replaces a lot of graduating talent and gives them some future waves to add on with, or even deal from if needed. Much respect to Paddy if he was able to rebalance both Colas and Cespedes with the changes that just happened to the signing periods.
