Again, he didn't play the entire season last year. No one touched him during free agency through spring training. Atlanta did try to offer him something, but pulled it due to covid supposedly, though if they really believed in him, why didn't they just wait it out? The guy has burned his reputation to the ground when MLB essentially won't touch him.

It doesn't matter what I am for, but even if you take the Atlanta thing as face value, despite all of the numbers, no one put him on a major league roster last year. That should be telling.

NO one in all of baseball was willing to touch Puig last year, including every single general manager that people drool over. That should tell you something about where he is held in baseball.

Yeah, I think in terms of what did us in this series, being 1 SP short, and RISP hitting were by far the two biggest issues. Then we can talk about a couple of relievers not being ready for playoff baseball. The strategy is valid, even if it failed here. We are seeing other teams use it very successfully in this very playoff.

The ONLY way he gets moved is if the Sox get a literal ace, and Vaughn is a centerpiece in that deal. Other than that, you might as well start penciling Andrews bat into the middle of our line for the decade.

This. The ONLY thing the Sox might do here is target a defense first back up catcher. They are not about to put huge resources into this position when they already have a top level catcher behind the plate. It is gigantic waste of resources when upgrades in the rotation and RF would pay off SO much bigger.

Every single team in baseball could have paid Grandal $18 million a season (or more) last season, and 29 teams chose not to. Now in 2020, teams have lost billions of dollars in revenues, and NOW they would be willing to do so? That doesn't even make sense.

With the economic season this winter, I can't see a single team willing to take on that Grandal contract without some extra incentive.

I am just going to say it. With the line up the Sox have it is WAY easier to hide a bad to mediocre RF, than it is to hide the fact our starting pitching was not deep enough. We need a top half SP WAY worse than we need a RF. We could go into next season with internal options in RF, and as long as we do something with the rotation, I will be good.
