  1. Fisher was drafted as an OF and didn't pick up 1B until 3 years of time in the minors. Osik was about a 50/50 split of OF and 1B when he was drafted, and played some OF last year too.
  2. Keep in mind that very few pitchers understand how to pitch in the majors when they get to the bigs. I get impatience is a thing, but that is literally the point of a rebuild too. We test drive cast offs to see if they can contribute and jettison the ones who can't.
  3. That's great, but he has zero control of that during the arbitration process unless the Sox release him.
  4. Pretty sure he was on track for tonight, before his latest set back.
  5. The last week has felt like he is making better and better contact. i think it is coming really soon as well.
  6. Tell them you are #TeamAntifa and get paid that money too.
  7. Not to brag, but dang I hit it out of the park on both TA and Gio, lol.
  8. There were definitely more than a few of us who were trying tell people that you can't give up on an arm like that too quickly. MLB is freaking hard. The difference between AAA and MLB is huge. Most guys have to learn on the job how to be MLB ready, no matter how talented they are.
  9. I think the reason McRae is on the roster is as a long guy to suck up innings. Burdi can't do that.
  10. One of more thing of note with Kopech, I know everyone who is trying to plug him into this season is trying to do so while assuming he would be healthy, but we really can't make that assumption when you look at how bad health has been for pitchers.
  11. Then what he is hitting in 46 ABs this year doesn't really matter for what his expectations are for the future.
  12. Are you pronouncing him dead? Because I am sure not ready for that. The kid has some talent.
  13. I think you are reading too deeply into that. He obviously wants to be in that top tier, but he isn't.. He is obviously frustrated, but at the same time, he should be able to see the depth chart in front of him. As to the contact part, the Sox obviously are going to be concentrating on the guys in front of them. Especially when you are talking about a minor league system full of kids, there isn't going to be a lot of time for that when you divide it up for each kid.
  14. Yes. And to putting together a core that the young players would be excited enough to want to stay longer than just til first chance at FA.
  15. Its a combination of everything Lack of Spring Training Lack of conditioning Lack of normal rate of off days Guys starting to get exposed after overusage A lot of young SP struggling to learn on the job as starters
  16. I am going to guess he might be more upset about this than anyone else. It will be interesting to see how he gets back at it next year, or if there are lasting problems either in the franchise or with Kopech beacuse of it.
  17. Its a numbers game. With as many pitching injuries as there have been, it makes sense to be overweighted in pitchers. In Sheets case, as a guy who can currently only play 1B, he is one of the least likely guys to be called up, even as close to MLB as he is. He even has Andrew Vaughn ahead of him. I get wanting to get him reps, but with only 60 slots to go around, the Sox needing to prioritize pitching, plus wanting to get their top rated prospects into camp, there just aren't enough slots to go around.
  18. I really hope that that the team in the last week uses their heads about rest and setting up the rotation. Unless the team absolutely collapses, I hope they use the last week to selectively rest guys who haven't sat much, as well as setting up the rotation and pen for the playoffs. Use guys like Burdi, McRae, and Flores to fill innings. Make sure everyone possible is at 100% for the second season, and that Gio and Dallas are set up to go 1/2 when it is time.
  19. At its core, Detroit never committed to the full rebuild and used all of their vets to gather players in return. They have seemingly drafted nicely, but with their window opening soon, I don't think they have enough to be ready for this.
  20. I wish we knew more about the condition here. I mean at its core, we don't know if it is something that is better to work through or wait to recover from. We have so little actual knowledge here.
  21. Aren't we playing a neutral site playoff bubble? If that is the case, no, it doesn't matter.
  22. Its 2020. IDGAF about Detroit right now, except as a punching back to win games and make the playoffs.
  23. Someone with the screen name "Beaver Eater" is talking about cringe worthy things. Hmmmmmm.
  24. For my two cents, I would rather get the roster as healthy as possible and the pitching staff optimally aligned for the playoffs. If we can do that and win a bunch, great. If not, I would rather be ready for the playoffs than to maximize regular season wins in a season with no home field advantage.
