  1. Sox fans are the greatest. Everyone just assumed it was because of RR, then the truth comes out. Again, I think even though it a short season, the fact that no one had a normal spring training, or preparation for the season, you might actually need to rest guys more than usual versus less than normal. Even past that, we are just going to see a ton of injuries.
  2. I think the one thing you can say is that they will be hit or miss, and they will be explosive. They will define standard deviation this year with how inconsistent they will be.
  3. The problem is that all indications are you are already looking at a bullpen day on Saturday and you have Dylan Cease going today who also hasn't shown much in the way of working deep into games so far. You may well be looking at 20 non-starter/bullpen innings over these three days. He wasn't going to be quick on the trigger knowing Friday and Saturday could well see 15 innings pitched by guys who are in that bullpen.
  4. Estimates for herd immunity were at about 70% of the country needing to be infected. If we are at 15% and in order to get to 70% of 330 million people infected we still need to get 180-ish million more people infected to get to about 230 million. So that is about 5 times as many cases as we have now. If we pretend that we didn't drastically under report deaths (which we did in study after study), and we have the same death rate, we still have about about 5 times as many deaths to still go as well. So we have about 800,000 more deaths to go, putting us just under a million for this exercise. Realistically if we hit the 1% death rate which has been estimated for this, we are looking at about 2.3 million total deaths.
  5. That isn't true at all. Many lower level sources have done random anti-body studies, and even when look at the most extreme of them, they don't amount to the claims you have been making for months. All of these have been riding in the 5-10% category, while the actual positive cases numbers in the US are currently around 1.5%.
  6. If anything he needs to practice it and get it down. I can't see how a 100% chance at a base hit would lower expected run totals versus something like a 1:20 chance of a homer, or 1:15 chance at a double based on his XBH totals from last year. Also worth noting is that Yoan is still operating with about a 1:4 chance of a K, and a 6.5:10 chance of not reaching base at all.
  7. For the record, I don't believe Moncada is being ASKED to do this, as we don't see anyone else doing this against the shift.
  8. I would love to see the expect run totals done on a study like this. If the guy can get a bunt down, it is a near 100% chance of a hit, putting 1st and 2nd with no outs and the AL defending RBI leader coming to the plate, and the rest of the middle of the order to follow. That has to be worth more than a whatever percentage chance of a home run when it comes to run expectations in an inning.
  9. It is interesting to look at the Sox roster right now, and see how many players the Sox have fully drafted/signed and developed, even if you leave out guys that they traded for as minor leaguers. What really jumps out is how many more late round guys are ending up on the roster. The current 28 roster plus DL includes 5 guys in rounds 11 or later, as well as 4 1st round picks. Tim Anderson 1st round Aaron Bummer 19th round Zach Collins 1st round Adam Engel 19th round Matt Foster 20th round Jace Fry 3rd round Ian Hamilton 11th round Codi Heuer 6th round Nick Madrigal 1st round Danny Mendick 22nd round Luis Robert INTL Carlos Rodon 1st round
  10. Jirschele would seem to be the leader in the clubhouse at this time
  11. We got HBOmax a bit ago and finally started this. just got into the 2nd season, and pretty good so far. Before that we hit Westworld. Loved the first two seasons, and liked the 3rd season, but really didn't like how the made the transition from the 2nd to the 3rd season. It was almost like an entirely new show, which took some getting used to. It wasn't that the 3rd season wasn't good, it was just completely different from the original 2 seasons and didn't really put together a transition from one world to the next.
  12. And no one is rooting for deaths. They are hoping that the number of deaths will wake people up who seem to not want to take this serious so that even MORE people won't have to die. But as we have seen if it isn't affecting someone directly, they don't believe it is real.

  14. I remember being told it was only 15 cases and under control.
