Totally agree, but that stat shows a big hole in the biggest worry about Yoan. The umpiring has cost him probably 75 to 100 OPS points this year. That is insane.

Cordell might actually be more fragile.

A full 25% of his Ks are bad calls. Turn even 25% of those into hits and his average is up to basically .250. His OPS is probably somewhere around .800 or close to it, and people are talking about Yoan as an all-star instead of a bust.

IIRC He was a Rule 5 pick in the minor league phase. His bat was always considered legit, but his defense is supposed to be awful.

I am going to guess I could drag a 71 year old Nolan Ryan out of retirement and know 2 things. He'd still throw 90, and he'd still beat the ass of anyone who crossed him.

Nolan Ryan is a bad ass. The dude is a longhorn steer rancher in his free time. He has dealt with much bigger and angrier than Robin Ventura.

So they went out and spent on the best available player despite having depth. They let them play their natural position until forced to do otherwise and then they spun him into one of the greatest pitchers on the planet. We should pray that the Madrigal saga ends half this well.

The Red Sox went out and spent $60 million plus on Moncada with Dustin Pedroia at 2B.

That would be great news, IMO. Every single component that comes and plays like they belong is good for the rebuild.
