Current personal White Sox T30 prospects
southsider2k5 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) not sure why Jimenez is the universal #1 over Kopech I am not sure why anyone would think differently at this point. Jimenez might be the best prospect in all of baseball. If not, he is in the team photo. -
Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) Angels received $1.21 million, all of the Braves remaining bonus pool money, along with Johnson for a prospect. Angels now have $1.315 million to offer Ohtani. I'll add them to the list of teams I expect to sign him (along with Yankees, Rangers and Mariners). I have to imagine they are also looking at all of the Braves kids that just got set loose. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) Unless you can pick 5 months in advance which one will be healthy, you clear the spots for them and then have backup plans like Matt Skole for when one of them does fail or get hurt. Like I said, if Abreu and Avi are dealt, there will be room for all of these guys this year.

Then suggest a new topic.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) You'd have Gillaspie at first if he is good in the spring, Davidson at DH (which is likely right now), Cordell in RF. Assuming all of them are successful AND healthy? I wouldn't bet on it. Both Davidson and Cordell missed significant amounts of time last season.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) These guys are Andy Wilkins-esque. There's a better chance Ohtani is the starting DH on opening day for the White Sox than these minor leaguers making an impact. If Avi and Abreu are dealt, there will be at least a couple of these kind of guys who play this year for sure.

2017-2018 MLB player movement rumors and reports

Ben Badler @BenBadler 5m5 minutes ago Ben Badler Retweeted Atlanta Braves The Angels pick up international bonus pool space for 2017-18. Worth noting given all the talent that's become available recently. Atlanta BravesVerified account @Braves The #Braves have acquired LHP Justin Kelly from the Angels in exchange for RHP Jim Johnson: 1 reply 11 retweets 5 likes -
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) They also claimed Daniel Palka a few days ago. Given the chatter around Abreu the last 48 hours, I'm starting to buy into the fact the Sox are preparing for a 2018 without Abreu at 1B Same here. They have about half a dozen guys that fit the exact same mold.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) James Anderson @RealJRAnderson 20h20 hours ago Heard @keithlaw say on the ESPN pod that Ohtani has been clocked as an 80-grade runner. That's kind of a big deal, and something I did not know. Jayson StarkVerified account @jaysonst 2h2 hours ago Jayson Stark Retweeted Sung Min Kim This home-to-first time for Ohtani is totally legit. Heard this from too many people who have seen him. He'd be one of the fastest players in baseball. Sung Min KimVerified account @sung_minkim Replying to @jaysonst 3.80 sec to 1st base on this one. Quite fast. 21 replies 69 retweets 215 likes Jeremy Frank @MLBRandomStats For context, assuming this timing is accurate: In 2016, only one player (Billy Burns) had a top (avg of top 5) home to first time of under 3.80. Billy Hamilton’s average of his top five runs was 3.82. Ohtani is fast. https://twitter.com/sung_minkim/status/936123907135778816 … -

Joel ShermanVerified account @Joelsherman1 1h1 hour ago Just to clarify what is coming: MLB owners are set to ratify new posting system with Japan tomorrow, at which point Ohtani MUST be posted the same day and will have until Dec. 22 to sign with an MLB team. So the clock starts ticking for real tomorrow. -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 12:21 PM) Wasn't there an update yesterday saying the Giants are willing to take on the entire contract? Don't know if it meant for that package or not though. Tim McKernanVerified account @tmckernan Nov 29 From @CraigMish on @TMASTL re: #STLCards and #Stanton: I have been told the #SFGiants are willing to take on the entire contract, and that makes the Giants the favorites right now with the Cardinals in second place. I think the Giants are all-in until the end to get Stanton.

Relevant for the trade market for Abreu Jerry CrasnickVerified account @jcrasnick 4h4 hours ago Of the 117 #MLB players who hit 20-plus HRs this season, 16 are free agents. Could the surplus of power hitters change how teams approach the offseason? http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2161090...gers-come-cheap eetings.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) If he was willing to sign a 4/$80 extension and he was moved to the Red Sox, why wouldn't they offer him such an extension to keep him off the market? the logic for other teams is the same, if they think he's a good player and will remain so until he's 35 then it makes good sense for them to lock him up rather than playing the 2019 free agent market for Smoak and Goldschmidt...and their teams might well lock those guys up too. He can want to sign that deal with the White Sox, but not for the Red.
