Just don't speak to me about Back to the Future part 2.

Hey speaking of Back to the Future, Eric Stoltz was the first person cast as Marty McFly

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Puke. I cannot understand why politicians are immune to this. It is all about partisianism. An entire generation has been raised to believe Party over Country.

A movie I would pass on.

When Rowand states something intelligent, he is either hacked or drunk.

This is unreal. I am struggling to think of an era in our history where the pendulum on something has moved so far, so fast, and so many people have been taken down in the process. It is like the Salem Witch trials or the Red Scare in terms of size and scope.

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) He budged BIG TIME on the Yankees deal though... I'm still sad I think he really wanted Rutherford.
-
I'd be down for something involving Chavis and Bradley. I have no idea where the Red Sox value him though. I have to imagine if something like that was on the table it would have been already done.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Jesus, depending on what "pretty early" means, that could be worth millions, tens of millions, or hundreds of millions (if he can actually get all of it out, lol) 80% return this MONTH. 1000+% return in the last 12 months.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) I bought in about a month ago for a modest amount, nothing I can't stand to lose, and have earned about 60-65% so far. Find yourself a good stop loss point.

QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) I'll be more sad when Jose goes than any of Sale/Eaton/Quintana. Totally agree. I love the guy.
-
Assuming they are willing to part with a solid package, that really is a great fit for Jose. They need exactly him.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) I know too many people buying into it like its free money. Its based on absolutely nothing, and thats what its going to be worth. It is s***ty internet stocks all over again. Once it pops, it will go down HARD. It might be this week, it might be six months down the road, but when it happens, look out.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) People are going to lose so much money on bitcoin. I won't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

QUOTE (GermanSock @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 05:04 AM) why did he Play there at all? He had a Long season with full season minor league ball and the AFL. winter ball is for Players who missed a large chunk of the offseason, he would have been better off resting 2-3 weeks and then starting Lifting and other Fitness Training for the off season. don't want to wear down that Body, especially because he already had some injury Problems in the past. Lots of Latin players do play winter ball when they are at home as more of a loyalty thing or a nostalgia thing. -

Who is your favorite candidate outside of the top 30 for a breakout 2018? -
QUOTE (Soha @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I don't agree that he's a bad defender. I think he's at least average. He was 2nd in outfield assists in baseball last year. I didn't see a lot of bonehead plays. And I think his better physical shape allowed him to get to more balls as well. He is a slightly below average RF the last couple of years according to fangraphs, and has put up slightly above average baserunner numbers during the same span. While not "good" he has made some clear improvement and is at least tolerable out there if he continues to hit at some amount. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=OF

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Is there some sort of rule where they have to wait til this week to non-tender players? I would think if they non-tendered anyone, it would have happened to make room to protect prospects on the 40. Thinking back to the 40 man roster crunch last week, I do not recall a single player being non-tendered, so I would imagine the answer is yes.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 07:50 AM) I don't think it really matters about when but also more about for how much. Like Tim Anderson, he could sign after 2018 and sign a 5-year deal that pays him just a bit extra the first 2 years (pre-arb) and then buys out his 3 years of arbitration (so overall, a 5-year deal) as long as it's within reason. I would expect him to want to go to free agency as early possible since he is already forfeiting millions coming early anyway. At the same time, who knows if he would even want that early extension since he could theoretically earn more going year-to-year in arbitration. The Anderson deal is a good example of what CAN be done. You could probably stretch the end years to a bit heavier numbers and get away with it because of comps that are out there, but the first three years are pretty well peaked out. Anderson will receive $850,000 in 2017, $1 million in 2018, $1.4 million in 2019, $4 million in 2020, $7.25 million in 2021 and $9.5 million in 2022. The contract also contains team options for 2023 ($12.5 million) and 2024 ($14 million) with a $1 million buyout. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) Arlington Heights native Jimmy Garropolo to start vs Bears on Sunday. I'll be in attendance, since my tickets are worthless and my friend who likes to drink and knows nothing about football wants to go. Perfect type of game to take him to. Fox is gone no matter what, but home losses to the 49ers or Browns would be the ultimate stain on his legacy. Personally, I'd love it. Get that top pick as far as I am concerned.

QUOTE (Real @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 04:43 AM) So can the Sox sign him to a multi-year deal? I know they can only spend up to 300k on him when they sign him, but that's one year. How would a multi-year deal work? Can you spread an international contract out past your money cap of 300k? Assuming they can, it would have to look something like, 4 years 70 million year 1 300,000 year 2 21,700,000 year 3 23,000,000 year 4 25,000,000 I have no idea how much money he's going to get, so don't put any stock into the 70 million Sure, if they want to get destroyed like the Braves did. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) The Sox signed Albert Belle to the largest contract ever at the time. The Sox offered A-Rod a huge deal back in the day, rumored to be like 10/$190M. They recently offered Tanaka a massive deal as well. You're fooling yourself if you don't believe the Sox will pursue the truly elite free agents next year when they have like $2M in guaranteed payroll. Whether they can convince one of these guys to take their money remains to be seen, but I have no doubt Reinsdorf will ok an aggressive offseason plan. The problem isn't with the Sox making offers, it is with them making the largest offer. As for the Albert Belle example, Eloy Jimenez was 7 days old when it happened. They haven't really shown a propensity to set the market for top level players for 21 years now. They have been #2 a lot of times. #1, not so much.
