  1. This would be my expectation, but no one has ever actually said it outloud as a fact.
  2. The shares that Ishbia is buying now already gave up voting rights to JR. He has full control. For that to change, JR has to give up control himself, or die.
  3. While it would be nice for it to happen on the pitching side, and also way more likely based on this franchise's history for the last couple of decades, they NEED it to happen on the position player side if this rebuild is going to be shortened at all.
  4. There have been a bunch of formal accusations, and many more soft ones, including the last few years where a few free agents said every offer they would receive was remarkably similar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_collusion
  5. I will be fully honest here. Much like I was with Rodon, I would not be the person signing Garrett Crochet to a nine figure contract. While everything went freakishly perfect last year, I would not be willing to bet on it happening again, let alone for the next 5+ years.
  6. If ownership changes, I will rerack my expectations, but as of now, it is going to be YEARS.
  7. The position player core is not there yet. They have a few question marks at the top of the system, and then the core is much younger. There are just so many position holes.
  8. They are now a part of the union, so that might not be true anymore.
  9. Absolutely. If you get a guy who can put up 160 innings and not get you blown out, that is a win.
  10. The divide on Burke is wild. Law LOVES him, thinks potential mid to front line starter. Everyone else is kind of meh.
  11. Jerry has been a control freak for 45 years now when it comes to the White Sox and MLB. I would be mildly surprised if he gives that up, but I guess we will see. It does seem like he is putting his affairs in order though.
  12. Me personally, I 100% believe this is Jerry's coronation of his successor, no matter what his mouthpieces say.
  13. His influence is also waning, and has been for a while. Getting his ass kicked for the last commish vote was a big slap in the face, as he basically mustered no support.
  14. I mean it COULD be a power play for Ishiba to do almost an activist investor thing to force changes within the organization, but it seems like a really big assumption for a guy to pay that kind of money for shares, if he doesn't have a path to throne, for a guy who has bought major professional franchises in the past.
  15. If Clevinger isn't going to be an innings eater, there is even less than zero reason for him to be here. I won't argue with the idea that we need a starter who can get you 6 or 7 when the kids fail in sequence, but if they aren't going to use Clev that way, it's an even worse signing.
  16. The article stated the price doubled since their last offering by JR and the kids. It is also near the full market value for the team, even when including the non-voting consideration.
  17. Until MLB votes on any change the statement is technically true, even if it is a lie in concept.
  18. If the article quote about the price of limited share prices doubling in a couple of years is accurate, Jerry’s fiduciary duty is more than covered.
