  1. It's a capital gain no matter how much you own. The ownership structure and purchaser literally have zero to do with how much Jerry pays in taxes upon his cashing out. It's the price he gets paid by the purchaser, minus the price he paid originally, times the gains rate. It's not hard. It's just like anyone else would be paying on any long term gain, such as stock or crypto.
  2. This is already a massive step forward. If they can add one more tackle starter, they are in good shape.
  3. And if he sucks, he is a costless dump after this year.
  4. We won't. 100% we won't. It's why experimenting with players is able to happen, and necessary. As an investor, I look at the guys we signed this year as minimal money market accounts with near zero interest rate. Some of these other guys are shot in the dark stocks or crypto who probably won't break out and will remain worthless, but if they did figure it out, could be a huge return on investment. The Sox need those lottery ticket types instead of a money market.
  5. This article or somewhere else? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6152097/2025/02/21/justin-ishbia-out-minnesota-twins-sale/
  6. And the Chiefs internally voted him their MVP.
  7. Hiding in plain sight actually makes more sense than the real story.
  8. In a city full of loudmouth knownothings, he might be at the top of the list.
  9. Maybe Getz could some help somewhere else.
  10. I mean we already checked almost all of these boxes. Now we even got Getz to make sure of it.
  11. And what better way than to bring in people to develop? Find guys with some plus tools who have a non-zero chance at being on the Sox next winning team, instead of declining guys with zero chance.
  12. This would be my first choice, but if it isn't going to happen, find someone with years of control to try.
  13. I am in your camp, I just wish they would trend younger instead of older, unless they are getting a Q type starter.
  14. Weird, I keep getting told how we have too many pitchers.
  15. Or not loaded up the roster with old middle relievers and utility players knowing that DFAs happen all winter and spring long...
  16. Oh man, Sox fans are so lucky to have had these last 45 years.
  17. So you think he was trying to move the Twins? Or that there is no basis for thinking this guy was going to move a team he bought, just like the last team he bought? Though as an ex-IRS and real estate mogul it is pretty ironic to NOT hear Jerry's motives questioned by your own standards, especially as the one guy in this conversation who made a conditional agreement to move the Chicago White Sox.
  18. If they aren't going to play Colas, I would be on board for a project like this.
