White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
southsider2k5 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You are way more confident than I am that the Sox won't wedge in old and crappy players in the name of building trade value for guys that no one will ever want, just like they did last year. I am waiting to see how the 26 plays out before I even start to have any hope for 2025 being worth a damn. -
If Witt was "rushed" then Colson is trash. Witt put up a AAA season over .200 points higher than Colson just did while being a year younger.

How's that Organizational Pitching Philosophy Coming Along?
southsider2k5 replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So you think because they haven't trotted him out there for the dog and pony show, they don't like him? That seems like some high school stuff right there. -
And he’s not even a particularly insightful blowhard

Where did you get this silly idea from? -
3/11 - Sox @ Padres, 3:10 CDT - spring training

Better now than bringing him north to figure out he is toast. -
We already have plenty of trash SS's on this roster. I wish people would quit acting like we are missing out on something this year. This roster is trash. Just play it out and move on.

I deleted the response, thank you.

I don't get it either. He didn't earn the job, and hasn't been healthy. Nothing about the season he had last year should override that thought.
-
I disagree.

I disagree.

And the history shows it will be mid tier players who don't get us over the top. But keep handwaving.
-
You are chasing 40 to 50 games in this division AND you are behind in the quickest way to catch them. Yes, you are that far behind.
-
If the best example of a quality free agent signing happened a generation and a half ago, I think that makes that argument for me.
-
This is more than your simple hand wave. We can see what we have in the system and who is left to trade. We also have decades of free agent history here to base future expectations off of. We also know we trail all but one ALCentral team in MiLB systems in the vast majority of the system rankings, which is also important to note here, as it means we aren't just chasing 40-50 games now, we are also behind in future expectations. If anything the idea that everything will just work out is the one that seems suspect.

The Robert return has already crashed to the point where it sounds like we aren't getting a front line player for him. Maybe a starter or two, but something big? Sure doesn't sound like it. That leaves us our own Dev, which takes a lot of time, if ever... Our drafting, which takes time, and Free agency, which isn't happening while Jerry is the controlling partner and this team sucks. Again, I dont' see it.
-
I definitely wonder the same thing, but no one has asked it, so we get to keep wondering until it is asked and answered.
-
With the lack of front line position players, and the doors mostly closed to get anymore, I think I am being pretty optimistic.
-
We are still looking at two pretty big red flags in the back injuries and the velocity hitting ability. That is without moving off of SS because he is built like a TE.
-
This roster is 4 or 5 years from being potentially good again. About the time we MIGHT be decent, would be dead in the middle of when the front wave would be hitting free agency. I see no decent reason NOT to save that year with there being zero hope of anything good coming out of this team this year. Their most realistic goals are things like not setting the single season loss record again, and not losing 110 games.
-
And so predictable, so I don't have to hear how this is hindsight once it happened.
-
You have already wasted a year with the #1 pick QB in an era where FA QBs are getting close to half a billion. You have to get Caleb a line yesterday. You also have caproom. This is obvious moves.
-
Great week or so for the Bears. It gives them their draft back. Now they don't have to go OL early and often. We will learn what the Bears offense really is this year for sure.
-
I know we need hitters, but there is definitely a thought for leaning into what we do extremely well.
