President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) I am hoping America will wise up and anyone complicit with the administration will be given the opportunities they deserve, which would be working at KFC. But with Spicey as an example, you have to figure that isn't going to happen. I don't need them screwing up my mashed potatoes.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) Perfect outcome for the Bulls last night. Markkanen looked great again with 25 and 8, Dunn flashed and looked pretty explosive and they lost a pretty close game. 1-5 on the season. That first quarter dunk was nasty.

Our Next Manager?
QUOTE (FloydBannister1983 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) Also Jim Fergosi (sic) had an uneventful cup of coffee with the White Sox after the guy they want to honor next year fired HOF manager Tony LaRussa (and forced LaRussa to turn HOF catcher into an outfielder). Hi Duke/Alexei!

Off Season Buy Low Candidates
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) On June 2nd, Kyle Schwarber hit his season low OPS of .621. After that date, in 278 PAs, he put up a .246/.338/.561/.900 line. The dude isn't going anywhere. He may well go somewhere. With the needs in the rotation the Cubs have, someone is probably getting traded. Two things I do know is that it won't be the White Sox trading for him, and if a team does trade for him, it will be at a significant price.

Sox next local TV deal
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) If the cable company doesn't believe that viewers are coming then fine, from the White Sox's side, I will accept a lower yearly dollar guarantee if they give me a much larger slice if viewership does spike. I will take that bet and walk to the bank in 2020. In the cord cutting era, that is a pretty scary bet to make.

Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) I expect this to be the most boring offseason since 2012-2013 when basically the only move we did was sign Keppinger. -I'd love to sell high on Avi but kind of doubt the market values him. -I would want the Sox to sign a good pitcher with their value down that they could possibly dish off. I don't think they will do this. I'd think they do some scrap heap type guy and run with the youngins but someone is going to get hurt and with our payroll so low we could afford to gamble on a move that is a better version of the Derek Holland move from last year. Someone like Cobb/Buchholz/Chatwood/Pineda. -What I think the Sox will do and should do is spend big on the bullpen. I think they should put a lot of money into the bullpen. Even if it takes a 3 year deal for a good arm. Past that, let's be active on international free agents for the lineup. This is the perfect year to take a relative risk on a type of move that offers the potential for big surplus value. I am with you on all but this. We are still in the penalty phase for 2018, so there isn't going to be much to load up on.

Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) I don't recall him mentioning specific players like this. There's a difference, imo, between saying everyone is available and mentioning specific guys. I don't think the context was him saying it unprompted, but answering a question about the named players.

Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) I sort of agree. I will be surprised if he's moved just because I don't see a market, but it's weird Hahn would go out of his way to say Abreu/Garcia are available. It is the same thing he has said about everyone for years now.
-
Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 07:49 AM) I don't really see them signing multi-year deals with anyone. Veteran backup catcher, veteran starter like Chris Tillman, 1-2 veteran relievers on 1 year deals as well. They could sign some guys to potentially flip and add a ton of guys on minor league deals. I also think they explore Avisail Garcia and extend Abreu. Next year isn't a compete year. It's a growth year with kids playing. Next year's free agent class is a different story though. You are on the same page as me. Roster filling and lottery ticket moves, not competitive ones. They will give the goodwill from the rebuild another year to marinate.

Off Season Buy Low Candidates
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Why has no one mentioned Schwarber... If he were on any other team but the Cubs everyone would want him as our buy low guy. Because he isn't going to be a buy low guy. He will still cost a significant amount of prospects.

Sox next local TV deal
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) The Sox continually have some of the lowest rated regional telecasts in baseball, which will impair them from getting the type of deal that other people are pointing out here. The Sox will likely see a modest bump to their current $50M/season to around $60M. Teams do not own their national streaming rights, those are maintained by MLB and the digital arm of the MLB is printing money right now. I am curious what deals that have happened would give you that number?
