  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) I can honestly say I have zero interest in baseball right now. This is the first time ever I really do not care. I know they are rebuilding and it's necessary but I just do not care about anyone on the MLB roster. I should care about Rodon and Anderson but I don't. I am pretty close to there. With it being the first day of spring training, I can honestly say I have never had less interest in a baseball season than I do now.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) Also depends on if Reyes would have to go on MLB dl like Profar did and waste a year of service time or if we did what the Angels did with Skaggs and put him in the minors and then on dl. This is a really good point. Really if you think of it that way, it is two lost years as the first year back is usually subpar as the player recovers and relearns to pitch.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) Because in a year they could possibly have a better pitcher (and #1 prospect in baseball) than the one they traded plus a couple of extra pieces. It is a gamble but it could payoff big because they really aren't getting the value from other teams for a Q trade. Once a surgery is done, and the extent of the damage and repair is known, I'd be OK with it. Before then, too many unknowns to sign off on that risk in a deal for a best remaining player.

  9. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 20m20 minutes ago They're open to subtractions, but Rick Hahn said the #WhiteSox aren't adding anyone before the spring ends (only in the case of injuries).
  10. Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 15m15 minutes ago Carlos Rodon did not play catch w other pitchers or make light throws in PFP drills. Renteria said there is no issue.

  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) Yeah haha who are all the Cardinals who have had it over the past few years? Wacha, Wainwright, Lynn, Reyes now, Garcia I think and if you go back farther, Carpenter. Going back and looking at the chart in the Herm thread, the Cardinals are actually only middle of the pack for team injury time.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) I was getting at the fact that every starter on St. Louis seems to have that surgery at some point in time. It amazes me that the White Sox push their top starters harder than most any other team in baseball, yet they always have so many less injuries than anyone else does. It is kind of amazing.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:11 PM) Not if the team is aware of the condition prior to the trade. The White Sox traded for Jake Peavy while he was on the DL, and Arodys Vizcaino was traded from Atlanta to Chicago like 4 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery. This. A team can sign off on a trade of any player. The receiving team just has to feel like they have all relevant information and they trust the other team. The first part is what got San Diego in trouble this summer. They were running two different data bases on players health, and withholding a bunch of info from the teams they were doing deals with.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) With that organization, it almost seems like a requirement to have to miss a year due to Tommy John. Because of the time of year it is now, it would have to be a full season. Typically 9 months is the low end. That would get you back after the world series.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Sale quotes, if you care anymore... https://twitter.com/alexspeier The worst part might be with Sale in a Red Sox jersey, I can't even root for the guy.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Theoretically could make Reyes available in a trade too. He is easily the most interesting piece in the Cardinals system. It's risky, but ceilings don't get much higher. Making a trade including a guy who is hurt and hasn't even had his surgery yet seems WAY too risky for me.
  18. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) MLB Pipeline retweeted LangoschMLB's avatar Jenifer Langosch @LangoschMLB 2m Alex Reyes had an MRI on his pitching arm today. #STLCards do not yet know the results. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) MLB retweeted LangoschMLB's avatar Jenifer Langosch @LangoschMLB 1m #STLCards have not specified what the area of concern is with Reyes, but Matheny did say: "There must be a significant reason to do this." Yuck. How awful for the kid.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) If we can't move him, I'm content having him head this staff. The only thing worse than wasting Q here would be settling for a lackluster return. This exactly.
  20. Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 1m1 minute ago All-Star left-hander Jose Quintana will talk later this morning, but after today will politely decline to discuss trade rumors. #WhiteSox
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Succinct https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/831545820851761152 Honestly that is the best possible answer that a player can give in that situation.
  22. Kopech only pitched 56 innings last year, after 65 IP the year before, so I think they won't beat on him too hard. I think they push him into the 100/120 range this season, and really be careful with him. I think they will also look at the BB/9 numbers and dial him back a bit at I will go with 20 GS, 120 IP, 47 BB, 130K. I wills say somewhere between 8 and 10 starts at High A, before finishing the last of the season at Birmingham.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Again, I don't buy the conspiracy AT ALL, but all that does is fuel those that think the clubhouse issues is what caused the trades. I will end this with Rick Hahn's own words.
  24. Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor 1h1 hour ago Young man's game. With camps opening, Pierzynski, Morneau, Peavy, Alexei Ramirez, Dioner Navarro among remaining free agents
  25. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Exactly, the fact we didn't add a legit DH on the cheap should be proof to all. Nor a catcher.
