Alex Reyes fails physical, might need surgery
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) With that organization, it almost seems like a requirement to have to miss a year due to Tommy John. Because of the time of year it is now, it would have to be a full season. Typically 9 months is the low end. That would get you back after the world series.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Sale quotes, if you care anymore... https://twitter.com/alexspeier The worst part might be with Sale in a Red Sox jersey, I can't even root for the guy.

Alex Reyes fails physical, might need surgery
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Theoretically could make Reyes available in a trade too. He is easily the most interesting piece in the Cardinals system. It's risky, but ceilings don't get much higher. Making a trade including a guy who is hurt and hasn't even had his surgery yet seems WAY too risky for me.

Alex Reyes fails physical, might need surgery
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) MLB Pipeline retweeted LangoschMLB's avatar Jenifer Langosch @LangoschMLB 2m Alex Reyes had an MRI on his pitching arm today. #STLCards do not yet know the results. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) MLB retweeted LangoschMLB's avatar Jenifer Langosch @LangoschMLB 1m #STLCards have not specified what the area of concern is with Reyes, but Matheny did say: "There must be a significant reason to do this." Yuck. How awful for the kid.

Alex Reyes fails physical, might need surgery
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) If we can't move him, I'm content having him head this staff. The only thing worse than wasting Q here would be settling for a lackluster return. This exactly.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Succinct https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/831545820851761152 Honestly that is the best possible answer that a player can give in that situation.

Predict Thy Numbers: Michael Kopech
Kopech only pitched 56 innings last year, after 65 IP the year before, so I think they won't beat on him too hard. I think they push him into the 100/120 range this season, and really be careful with him. I think they will also look at the BB/9 numbers and dial him back a bit at I will go with 20 GS, 120 IP, 47 BB, 130K. I wills say somewhere between 8 and 10 starts at High A, before finishing the last of the season at Birmingham.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Again, I don't buy the conspiracy AT ALL, but all that does is fuel those that think the clubhouse issues is what caused the trades. I will end this with Rick Hahn's own words.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Exactly, the fact we didn't add a legit DH on the cheap should be proof to all. Nor a catcher.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Exactly, they would have replaced these guys with legit replacements and not Derek Holland & Avi Garcia. Especially with as cheap some some of the free agents are out there.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) I actually thought it was the first move. I don't think they are this petty. What would be the point of trading those two and then just holding serve? Wouldn't we have a Napoli signing? A Wieters signing? In addition to all of the guys who have been subject to pretty steady trade rumors (Q, Robertson, Frazier) this is part two of why I don't buy the tinfoil hat thing about it only being a cover to trade trouble makers. This team brought in nothing at the major league level over the winter.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) He said you would know the direction after the first couple of moves. There actually were a couple of moves before the trades, and he clearly has said time and time again they are closer to the beginning than the end of the rebuild, would like to make 4 more of these trades, and has said other teams ownership has nixed 2 deals. The LaRoche connection conspiracy is crazy. It just worked out that the first 2 were Sale and Eaton, could have been Frazier and Q. He specifically said it that way because last winter he said something to the extent that you will know our direction after our first deal, and their first deal was signing someone to a minor league deal, and people called him on it. This time around he said a little more ambiguous to prevent that. http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...t-fit-white-sox “Certainly with our first major transaction and the ones that follow behind, that will make it clear about which direction we intend to go,”

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) Like I said, until he makes another trade, that conspiracy will exist. I'm sure it's not true, but there is no proof it's bogus either right now. A lack of other deals isn't proof that there is a conspiracy either. It is proof that the off season trade market sucked. Remember Detroit was going to sell off this winter too?

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) I have come to the conclusion that the trades made this offseason were related to the LaRoche fiasco. Anyone hear the caller on 670 this morning at about 8:50? A guy called in saying he had a source that JR told management to only trade one of Sale or Q There is an entire season of teams trying to get a deal done for Q that shows otherwise.

Baseball Prospectus ranks
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) Hansen could realistically be a top 30 prospect by the end of next season. I can respect why people are skeptical right now, but a strong year in full season ball will make a lot of believers. It is pretty easy to handwave away part of a year at the lowest levels of the minors. It is impossible to do if he repeats his successes in A and high A.

Baseball Prospectus ranks
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 04:47 PM) I'm just asking for posters to make a list of current mlb starting pitchers who are 6' or less and also 185 lbs or less I guaranty you that is a very short list If any organization can make unconventional pitchers happen, it is this one.

Rick Hahn discusses rebuild
Interesting to see that the number was put at 4 more deals they want to make. Q, Robertson for sure. Frazier was one we saw a lot of rumors about. Who was #4? Abreu? Cabrera?

Herm Schneider and the Immense Value of Health
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) It kind of scares me that the process is so personal. Basically, when Herm goes, we lose this. It's just people trusting him and him being organized and responsible. That's an incredible heap of praise, but you'd like something a bit more institutional. It kind of seems the same with Coop. He just seems to have a great eye/emphasis on getting pitchers out when their mechanics get out of whack. I have no idea how much Herm has replicated himself, but at least with Cooper we know that he has created a lot of other pitching coaches through the minors, and even a guy like Nieves.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (spiderman @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Is Nate Jones part of the future for the White Sox or would closing games enhance his value vs. being a premier setup man? Is there a legitimate difference between the two roles if he's dominant in one? Would moving Robertson enhance the value of Nate Jones? Unless Jones is someone who can't close.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
Honestly it would have been nice if the left hadn't started screaming about fake news during the election cycle, as it has just given Trump the easy out for any news he doesn't like. Oh, it is just fake news. The left literally simplified it enough that a Trump voter could take it and run with it in two words, and invalidate anything they don't agree with it.

Baseball Prospectus ranks
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) My irrational love of Hansen tells me he still has the highest ceiling of all our arms. I would have said that with no doubts 4 months ago. Today, that would be a great discussion, and I think you could make an argument that if EVERYTHING went right Hansen could be better than all except maybe Rodon.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) EhVlad Guerrero Jr. made some top 100's and he's only 17 and never been in full season ball yet. Just depends on your criteria . Matain from Atlanta is also on the back of this list.

Baseball Prospectus ranks
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) If Hansen carries his performance from 2016 over to 2017 then he will for sure be a top 100 prospect by mid season Hansen is still a high risk prospect, both to remain healthy and improve his control over the course of a whole season If everything breaks right he could be a #2 starter at ceiling, the floor is never making it out of the minors and the control never comes He was a very good second round pick due to the big upside though Hansen is fun for discussion purposes. Realistically his floor is Jeff Soptic... a hardthrower who can't go anywhere. His upside is Cy Young with an 75/80 fastball and 80 slider, and average control.
