  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Did Moncada die One position player in, and Eaton out. I don't see the net gain here.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Dude I'm as excited as I've been in years. To me it feels like the early 90s again. Sox are loading up on young talent and if they can get a few studs out of like they did then it will set them up for a great run in the next decade. I get that you're disappointing to see favorites go but ripping the bandaid off has long been overdue on this roster. The idea was supposed to be fix the problems in the organization. They didn't and they have used up two of our three chances to do so. We didn't get quantity in either deal. This is a worst case scenario.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) If down the line the Sox have too much pitching and not enough good position players its easy to trade from a stock of pitching depth. Almost EVERYONE could use pitching. The talent haul for Eaton here is ridiculous. Get the papers signed before the Nats come to their senses. See that's the fun part. We would need an insane amount of luck just to get the staff back to where it was, and then you still don't have any position players. That isn't helping this franchise at all.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Huh? If they really want they have massive chips left in Q and Rodon to trade for position players. This is what a rebuild looks like you get the most value you can, regardless of position, and sort it out later. If this fails to the point where you are trading Rodon, you might as well contract this franchise. I already hate this. There is literally no reason to watch this team for years.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) I've b****ed about the Sox more than anyone the last year but there's no reason to b**** about these guys just being pitchers right now. We still have a lot of pieces to move and one is an elite one. Now that we actually have a f***in direction for once lets let Rick finish this off...and he's doing a tremendous job gathering talent so far. Don't stop now boys. Our direction so far is to hope that we can get to the same point that we just were. All pitching, no hitting. That is a f***ing terrible direction.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) And Frazier, and Jones, and Abreu...who will likely stick around and Jones might be upgraded to closer to max out his value if it's not high enough already as a set up guy. That's risky, as he might not succeed there...but we have no way of knowing what if anything has been offered yet for him. Robertson and Cabrera get you salary relief, mostly. Outside of Jones, I think people are way overestimating what teams will pay for a load of maxed out players. I mean the return for Frazier last year wasn't even that great if you think about it, why would it even be close to what we paid last year? Robertson had a bad year last year. Sure I can look at it and pick out why I think he rebounds, but is anyone out there going to pay up for that chance? Eh. Melky is going to get you garbage unless you pick up his salary.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Robertson, Jones, and Frazier can bring something back too. Not anything top 50, but something. Jones, I agree with. Robertson and Frazier are not bringing back top end talent. Both guys have zero surplus value. Hell Dan Jennings might be the next most valuable trade piece we have after Q and Jones.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) We have plenty of trade chips left to get position players. Q is the only one of any value. That's it.
  9. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) I'm a huge Eaton fan, and I own an Eaton jersey. And I still love this deal. You still need good pitching to win championships, and developing pitching is the Sox bread and butter. Would I have liked Robles? Yeah, of course. But still, when you get two top 50 prospects for Eaton, you do it. Take it and run, baby. We had good pitching. That wasn't the problem.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) How are you guys disappointed that we got the #4 and #38 prospects for Adam Eaton? We sold about as high as possible on him. It doesn't help solve the problem we have now, at all. Our position players have been awful. As of now, we have set ourselves up to have the exact same problem we have now, but only if all goes right. If it doesn't, we won't have offensive or pitching.
  11. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes #WhiteSox return includes Lucas Giolito, Dane Dunning and Reynaldo Lopez for Adam Eaton. 4:02pm · 7 Dec 2016 · Twitter Web Client Eh. Disappointing.
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏ The #WhiteSox will get Lucas Giolito and two other minor-league pitchers from the #Nats once the #WhiteSox approve the medicals for Eaton If they aren't Fedde and Lopez, we blew this one. Even if they are, I don't like this deal.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) I dont know but personally I am positive I will go to more games next year than I did this year. Why? There will be nothing worth seeing next year. The exciting prospects will be in places like Charlotte and Birmingham, not Chicago.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Even if it was Giolito/Lopez? Yes.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) everything.whitesox_ ‏@everything_sox 2m2 minutes ago Fwiw I received a DM on IG AT around 2:45ish that said that the White Sox trade Eaton to the Nats for Giolito+ + had better not mean just one more player.
  16. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Going to be awfully hard to keep a bat in the lineup who can't maintain a .650 OPS...Not saying he's completely invaluable or he shouldn't be part of the package, but if we only get 3 players (without Robles or Turner) and Severino is 1 of them I'd consider it a pretty light deal. Without Turner or Robles, we have to be talking about a quantity type of deal, otherwise I am going to be pretty pissy about the return.
  17. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Agreed but I rather have focus on shoreing up the middle of the field and Robles along with Moncada and Anderson does that. Servino is great as a add on but man to not get Robles stinks. I rather have him with either Lopez or Gioloto. Given the choice, I would much rather load on up on other top position players. But that being said, I have no problem with him being in the end of a deal.
  18. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Servino is a defensive catcher who's bat is way behind developing. I just don't get why we wouldn't insist on position players. I get pitching is king but man we need some hitters to go with these guys. I saw Severino described as the best defensive catcher in the minors. That is worth capturing.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) At this point basically the only pitchers I care about have to throw ambidextrously or 105 mph for me to care. Position players much more fun. We need position players so much worse than pitchers right now. Washington does have guys like Kieboom, Neuse and Stevenson, along with the July 1 guys like Soto and Franco that really need to be worked into a deal.
  20. Without Robles, I hope this deal is a quantity deal.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) WSD just retweeted someone saying sox using nationals to up cardinals offer is lol Now that would be awesome.
  22. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) If this happens, I don't think it's an accident Sale and Eaton went first and second. Yep.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) You knew this one was coming. The SS2k5 signature post. As one of the guys trying to make Sale a bad guy, maybe you should take his post to heart. And there you go, the gross simplification that was never said.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I don't get all the Top 10 mentions for Tilson I keep seeing, here and elsewhere. I have a hard time putting him higher than the 15-20 range, probably lower. Apparently I'm far lower on him that most. And I still think Adams is no longer deserving of a slot in the top 5 or 6. In fact with the new names, he's not in my Top 10. Unless the injury stops him, which is very possible, he is already a major league player. His floor is #4 OF. While he doesn't have much of a top, the fact that he IS on a major league roster, should count for something in where he ranks.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) I'm pretty sure Chris is a good dude and well liked in the clubhouse. He's just a crazy person. Not simple enough for DA.
