White Sox News FA / Rumors / News
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) Basically that some in the organization think mechanics and injuries will catch up with him. Some comparisons to Lincecum from rival evaluators. Not the most positive article when you're trying to trade a guy. I wonder which outside GM wrote that for Olney?

White Sox News FA / Rumors / News
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) Ken Rosenthal tonight tweeted that the Astros and Rangers are now out of the mix for Sale. If true, it appears the market for him is drying up, not expanding as many said it would if the Sox waited until the off-season. Mark Except by all reports there was zero market for him in the season.

2016-17 NHL Thread
QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) Hawks recall goaltender Lars Johansson from Rockford and assigned forward Nick Schmaltz to the IceHogs. It's the right call, Schmaltz has been nowhere to be found. Yeah, he has been very unnoticeable. I keep waiting for him to breakout, but not much. The rest of the rookie class has been way ahead of him so far.

Leave it to the Bears to blow a shot at the #2 pick even with a garbage squad on the offense.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) So did they just sign this guy off the street? That is exactly what they did. Hockey has allowances for an emergency goaltender to be added for odd situations like this. It is pretty crazy honestly.

JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 So 40-man roster players in minors will make $86,500. First time AAA non-40-man roster player makes $2,150 a month. AA-$1,500 a month. Little clarification. MILB minimum salary of $86,500 for 40-man guys is for guys with a) 1 day in MLB or b) 2nd year on 40-man.

Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 05:17 PM) Where was that implied at all? Which means there is no reason to have to cut him.
-
Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) Whats the point of even giving him a shot? Even on a rebuilding team it doesnt make any sense. He's a bad player. Your wasting reps for someone else. Unless we get a lot of guys that are major league ready, he isn't blocking anyone who will be an OF on our next playoff team.
-
Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
At worst, he is the same player he has been, and we cut him after next year. At best we catch lightning in a bottle, and maybe we can move him at the deadline for something, anything.
-
Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
Don't forget, unless something changed with this brand new CBA, the team can still cut Garcia before spring training by paying him something like 15 or 20% of the value of the deal.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Cabrera, Frazier and Robertson are all more likely to be traded than Eaton this offseason. Unless they get a stupid offer he will be your right fielder for years Sure. But they are also much less desired than Adam Eaton.

PIT/NATs in talks for McCutchen
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) One, it's "talk." Two, for adding in a top 5 prospect, "significantly" may be an understatement. The value of Adam Eaton versus McCutchen being significant, might be a significant understatement.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) So no Otani till about 2019-2020 huh? That sucks. I saw a bit that they could raising the international cap age to 25 from 23, which means not just one more season, but three seasons. So yes, that would put him here next decade from the sounds of it.

PIT/NATs in talks for McCutchen
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) I'd take that in a heartbeat, but no way the Nats offer two top 10 prospects and then some for Eaton. It would probably have to be Giolito or Robles plus whatever else. If there is already talk about Robles being included in a deal for McCutchen, why wouldn't the price for Eaton be significantly higher?

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) I could see Eaton going to upper management and saying he wanted to be dealt if we decide to do a rebuild and trade Sale + others. I could see him having a public meltdown, and not having the sense to privately going to management to request to leave.

PIT/NATs in talks for McCutchen
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) My word is soft right now haha. But the the one thing I would say that isn't really talked about much is that I'd expect Dan Jennings to go this offseason. Supposedly garnering a lot of interest. With the value being placed on relievers currently, I wouldn't mind both Jones and Jennings being sold off.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) I think it's more Eaton is 28 years and relies on speed, had a career year/6.0 WAR, and trying to sell him at his peak value. Hopefully that's the sign of a rebuild from the Front Office. I hate to say this, but if you flat out asked me if it was more likely that the White Sox management was talking about trading someone at peak value, versus trading someone for petty reasons like being at the end of the rope with a players actions... Well lets just say I know which scenario I would believe more.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) Seemingly trying to move the two most vocals players in the LaRoche fiasco. It could be coincidence, but at the same time, it is pretty impossible to say that it doesn't matter.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) I'm not necessarily worried about his skill set eroding(though I do worry a bit about him killing himself running into a wall or something) and I agree that the clubhouse s*** is mostly bs but I'm just open to trade anyone especially when there's a possibility said player is at their peak value. I'm certainly not saying to go out and trade him for anything but we should be open to the idea of trading him if it brings us a nice package of players back. Looking from the outside in, the fact that they are talking about moving Adam Eaton to me is a clue that there might be some smoke to all of the clubhouse stuff.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Speed/contact guys (who don't even swipe bags) that are 28 years old are not the type of players you should be keeping going into a rebuild. He'll be over 30 when we're good again. More likely than not, his skill set isn't going to age well. This is also an interesting thought.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
I don't really want to move Adam Eaton, but in the back of my head, I don't know if his level of maturity would make him the kind of guy you want around during a rebuild. Dude was one of the big antagonists during the Adam LaRoche mess last year. It isn't hard to squint your eyes and see an Adam Eaton meltdown if Chris Sale is dealt.
