White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Not trading with the Cubs is silly but I don't see why Hahn had to say anything. And do the Cubs have the prospects the Sox want anyway? They've hyped Schwarber to the gills, and even if the hype were legit, he's still a DH. they've also hyped Soler ...but no one's buying that one. What is the deal the Sox could get from the Cubs that it couldn't turn down? That is just it. The Cubs can't build as nice of a deal as most other teams unless they are trading guys off of their major league roster. If you take away Baez, Schwarber and Contreras, they don't have as much left.

Lawrie/Garcia could be non-tenders
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) What does L Garcia make? Seems like a useful utility guy, esp as we've spent over $2 mil per head on Bonificio, Beckham, etc. Avi, not Leury.

The CBA is done - formerly the CBA is not done thread
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 2h2 hours ago . . . They would fall back to No. 30, a less onerous penalty than losing a pick. Again, this is simply a proposal, an idea being discussed. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/804071585095237632 . . . a wealthy revenue-sharing payor would slide back, say, five slots in draft. So, if #Dodgers signed QO FA, picking at No. 25 . . . Draft-pick compensation idea in play in CBA talks, per source: Rather than lose a pick for signing a qualifying offer free agent . . .

Will Brett Lawrie be Non-Tendered?
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) Unless there's a lockout or he gets traded, they'll announce something on Friday. Avisail safe under a rebuild mode? This. If this is indeed happening, they are probably trying to trade him in some form, whether that means dumped for a minimal return, or included in a bigger deal. No reason to not spend the next four days trying to deal him.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) If Theo calls and offers Schwarber, Baez, Contreras, Happ, Jimenez....you hang up the phone on them? Give me a break. If it makes the Sox better for long term sustainable growth as a franchise, you do the deal. To quote the Andy to the warden in Shawshank, "Why are you being so obtuse?" Like I said earlier, I would bet money that a conversation between the two happened at some point, with Hahn asking for something similar in return. Then it got turned into the Sox wouldn't deal with the Cubs.
