  1. I still think an extension is most likely.
  2. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) How do the Cubs cater to millenials? What are they doing that could be described as such? The Cubs don't really cater to anyone.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) If Trump really tries to get that plan in action he will get killed. Does anyone disagree with term limits for Congress? Or stopping lobbyist shenanigans? There are some really good things in there, and some really bad ones. This next four years will all depend on which ones come to fruition.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) I think it's safe to say the best move the LGBT community leaders could do is shower Trump with praise and see what kind of policy that gets them. I'm really not joking. That might be the best idea I have heard yet, and I am not kidding.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I'm mostly upset at the DNC. They had a candidate with genuine grass roots support and enthusiasm and went out of their way to squash him. The DNC needs to clean house. Legitimately the DNC and RNC really need to start over again. Not only did they both pick their worst candidates in their parties history in an election they should have cakewalked in, they also cracked the door for the third party's as well.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) He'd probably get a contract similar to what Encarnacion will get IMO. There is a very large production difference between the two players after Abreu's first year. I think the years could be closer, because of age differences, but the per year dollars would be very different.
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/11/10/lev...l-be-no-mirage/ This is a great quote, and probably telling as to why the Sox won't say exactly what they are doing.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) His value you should be similar to EE and he may get a 5 year $125 million deal. I bet a team that misses out on EE calls Hahn about Abreu. I think there is a very sizable production difference there. We may well get calls on Abreu, but it will be more to do with is being cheaper than EE, than his being as productive as him. I also wouldn't underestimate opt out in his deal effecting things.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) So what? He'd be one of the best free agents on the market this winter. DH's aren't worth nearly as much on the free agent market as actual position players.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) Jamie Dimon? lol, apparently my brain shutdown this morning. Never mind.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) Well yeah, I'd rather get my cavity drilled out than be castrated while fully awake. Chase was one of the main reasons for the recession, and he's literally the poster child for why Corporations shouldnt overpay CEO's Except he works for Goldman, not Chase.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Like jury duty? You tell me what you think of our judicial system.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) In a rebuild, I don't expect him to go anywhere. If you are rebuilding, there really isn't a reason to get rid of him.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) For real? He'd probably sign a 4-5 year deal worth $80-$100M in free agency. There is still quite a bit of surplus value there. He can also opt out of his contract in to arb at any time, so he really doesn't have as much surplus value as it would seem.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) I just learned that countries like Australia have compulsory voting where everyone is required to vote. Why wouldn't that work here? I don't know much about it to be honest but it sounds like a great idea, especially given our abysmal turnouts. The idea of compulsory anything flies in the face of freedom.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) If you get your opinions or news from things people share on Facebook then you have bigger problems. Social media is a cesspool Sure. But it doesn't mean that a large portion of the country isn't doing exactly that, and then using that information in the voters booth.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) No we had a discussion about FB news feed being one or the other and thats the only view one would see, literally. You shared an article that broke it down. I could have sworn that was you. Ah, I think I remember what you are talking about now. Someone, maybe WSJ, was experimenting with partisan news feeds at one point.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) It's kinda different though, right? There's an element of them not knowing they are only seeing what they want to see. I don't think people are so consciously doing it on those mediums. Well sort of. The algo is based off of clicks. But the other end of that is people on their facebook and twitter feeds are going to share whatever they share. My lefty friends are going to share lefty links, and my righty friends are going to share righty links. The information will still be there to some extent, though in limited looking they would be exposed to it less. Though I keep my feed on time line instead of headlines, so I see more than the headline group does.
  19. The mention is buried in this article. They also mention a team like Houston potentially chasing Adam Eaton. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/houston...hite-sox-110916
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) ss2k, didnt we have a discussion about this months ago? Yeah, I know I have had discussions about people only seeing what they want to see, and becoming dumber for it.
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) 100% agree. DNC should be looking in the mirror about how they lost to Donald Trump, but instead they wanna blame everyone else. Jill Stein. Like seriously? You are gonna blame Jill Stein for this. Embarrassing. The 3rd party shaming is ridiculous. If you want to shame someone, look at the 46.9 percent of voters who stayed home.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) He said "some". Not all 4 or 5 of their top 100 guys. I don't see him bringing back a top 100 guy.
  23. With the way that Hahn phrased it at the end of the season, the first real move off the season season will either be trading Chris Sale or signing Cespedes.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 07:49 AM) His demographic not voting is the exact reason that Trump got elected. Every single demographic out there was down from Obama to Clinton. Whites, blacks, Hispanics... all down. Women, down as a whole, even the gap between the two elections widened by 1 percentage point. That's right, with the first woman President potentially on the ballot it essentially stayed the same. Obama won women by 20%, HRC by 21%. Even the I know I got told during the election that Clinton had the base excited and was going to attract middle America, but the numbers show she was just an awful pick for President. If one group owes an answer to its base, it is the DNC who actively tried to figure out ways to put Clinton ahead of Sanders. I have said it before, and will say it again. Hillary Clinton was the Democrats answer to John McCain. She had been in line the longest and had the longest resume, so the party assumed it was her turn. Just like McCain, she did nothing to excite the general public, and got beaten. Only instead of losing to a candidate for history, she lost to the most hated candidate in history.
  25. #1 Crawford was a beast last night. STL could have had 4 or 5 goals in the third period alone. That skate save he made last night? OMG! #2 Please let Anisimov be OK. #3 The PK is still looking marvelous. It is looking more and more like the start of the season was just a blip on the radar. #4 And perhaps most importantly, SUCK IT SAINT LOUIS!
