  1. Any word on how they ingressed or regressed?
  2. The big problem isn't single concussions, it is the build up of damage over the long term of repeated damage to the brain, and we know almost nothing about how much and how often. I would bet money that's why the guy from the Bears just quit football.
  3. I am not going to slow roll CTE.
  4. If they are playing sports like football and soccer, they are already endangering their health anyway.
  5. The only way you dump Benny is if you take on another bad contract in return. If he was a free agent, what kind of deal would he get? Looking at his offensive numbers and adding to it he is borderline unplayable in LF for a team with aspirations, would he even get a true major league deal? Dude is a replacement play who can't play defense. He doesn't hit enough to hide at DH or 1B. Cut him and move on. He's a waste of space for the White Sox.
  6. Also with this being a retirement, how does this do the Bears with the cap? Obviously they lose the salary, but does the signing bonus all get shoved into this season now?
  7. Agreed. Something big happened. WIth football, you have to wonder CTE or the like.
  8. Initial rankings from The Athletic. First top 4 https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7078205/2026/03/03/2026-mlb-draft-ranking-roch-cholowsky/?source=athletic_thewindup_newsletter&campaign=17086219&userId=6062851
  9. When it is absolutely necessary, and not a minute before.
  10. But if it keeps happening, it most likely means a flaw in the stat. Call it the Mark Buehrle rule.
  11. But does he meet the minimum standards to be allowed to compare the stadiums?
  12. Yeah, this. I mean it seems obvious to understand the flaws in a simplistic stat when you apply it to the actual team playing the games. Teams with historically awful bullpens underperforming pythag seems obvious to me. Teams making lots of errors also seems obvious. It's an easy way to turn a close game into a loss. Again, I think improvement should happen this year, but there this team still has more holes than an aerated golf course. It's trending, but as a whole, there is still a pretty ugly talent gap between where the Sox are, and where they need to be to be respectable. The most important things for this team going forward are still mostly in the minors, a few maybe even in college or high school.
  13. This right here. It treats the final expectations from 5-1, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4 the same as it would 12-0, 4-5, 3-4, 3-4, 3-4
  14. Effectively it is believed to be literally 5%, so barely breaking above zero. https://packetstorm.com/the-myth-of-spring-training-records-do-they-predict-mlb-regular-season-success/
  15. It's funny people are mad, because this crap is still happening.
  16. On the date the sale closed, the SP 500 closed at 1410.49. Today it is at 6869 as we speak. That would have been a return of 487%.
  17. Honestly it might be easier to keep him then. They can use some IL time, and also use a rehab assignment to kill part of the season if they like him. Technically he only has to be on the ACTIVE roster for 90 days of a season to fill his roster requirement.
  18. This is where the current market for fringey back up catchers has been this winter. Maybe someone who really NEEDS him at the end of ST, say due to injury or in camp flops, throws a bit of cash at Jerry to jump the waiver line, but I can't see him returning an actual player, and definitely not one of substance.
  19. He might not have been the BEST pick, but it's way too soon to label him as a WASTED pick. Right now things are still way more gray than that. If we get a mid rotation starter, he was a good pick. If we get a front line starter, he was a great pick. If he washes out, he was a wasted pick. But as of today, we don't know what he will be.
  20. Judging by us getting Romo on Waivers, and then waiving him, I am going to go with zero.
  21. But your cash means more.
