  1. Law does that to a lot of guys Sox fans irrationally attach to.
  2. Yeah, and I wouldn't blame him. They jacked around with him and his future for 4 years now. Unless we front him a decent amount over what he would get in arbitration the next two years, I have yet to see a contract idea that matches his and the Sox considerations.
  3. Just about the amount left for Pedro's deal, oops.
  4. Well he ought to be a great teacher then.
  5. It's a half season after the longest season of his life. If it wasn't for the weird Sox civil war that happened here, we'd never think twice about it.
  6. It is obviously Martin Maldonado
  7. Hitting. If this dude could hit at all, he'd be on a major league roster for the next 15 years. I don't even mean as a guy who hits a ton, but get on base on an OK clip, and the speed and defense will carry the rest.
  8. If his price today was cheap, we would have already resigned him. The kid is two years and four months from free agency. If he has made it this far without extending, I would bet money he has no intention of doing so right now. If he has any sense at all, he is looking at the market for pitching and not being willing to give away free agent years unless he gets a lot more money in the next two years, plus some decent money in his free agent years. If Tyler Glasnow is a $27.5 million pitcher for 5 years, Garrett has to be thinking the same thing of himself.
  9. And a hitter. Now we have neither.
  10. I think the TV was having trouble picking up his change up at times, because they also kept talking about a sinker that had a lot of the same movement and same speeds. I think he did throw something with a little more side spin to the edges of the plate that might have been a cutter, but I am not positive not having seen him before.
  11. With his stuff and control he shouldn't mess with the middle of the plate at all. He doesn't have blow you away stuff like that. But if he spends his career on the out edges and up/down, he will be just fine.
  12. Cavan Biggio traded to the Dodgers https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/06/blue-jays-trade-cavan-biggio-dodgers.html
  13. Pedro probably has very little to do with the starting pitching. That is guys like Bannister and Katz.
  14. He had some mid 90s back in the day, but he also got like 8 inches off of each corner too. That stuff doesn't exist today.
  15. He started the season slow, and has started out this level slow. Once he got comfortable, he normalized.
  16. That's an interesting name to come up because I remember reading years ago that one of the things that took Mark from a decent pitcher to a great pitcher was his ability to field his position better than anyone else in baseball at the time. He saved himself a ton of runs by being a groundball pitcher who served as an extra infielder. Thorpe looked like that on a couple of plays last night. He didn't mess around covering first, and he also made every play he need, plus the one spectacular play. If that is who he is, he can save himself a lot of runs.
