  1. I mean am I supposed to be impressed at being able to add 20 more losses to a hundred loss team? Granted it is impressive, but not in the ways that get you extended.
  2. And greg was saying this was a .460 to .480 winning percentage team. Since then the Sox are 5-14, good for a .263.
  3. Not to mention starting the clock towards major league money sooner.
  4. Pedro couldn't call him flat...
  5. This is why we won't be good for a very long time.
  6. He needed glasses? You can't make this up.
  7. if you are talking about "load", Crochet hasn't had a starters load since... well ever.
  8. BPA is always one of things that sounds great on the internet, but tougher to measure in reality. There is always the consideration of ceiling vs floor, plus how far away from that ceiling a player is. If Player A and B are roughly equal in the eyes of your scouts, how do you break that tie? There is always how they fit into the cap structure for the entire draft too. Like is Player A better at full price, vs Player B at a discount, but if that also allows you to overspend and get Player C, do you come out ahead of just Player A?
  9. For the record, no one is a "sure thing"
  10. I think the issue is people seem to think that Pedro cares what the media and people think. I believe it is really obvious by what he states and how he states, he doesn't. He is saying as little as possible to protect his people. I am more bothered when he does speak up and throws someone under the bus than by when he plays dumb for his players benefit.
  11. He just seems like the exact kind of guy the team falls in love with. A high ceiling pitcher who is close the majors and could be at the front of their rotation for a LONG time.
  12. Look Pedro is really bad at this part of his job, but I do believe most of the time when he states he doesn't know, he is just not saying what he knows to protect whoever he is protecting.
  13. Because Ozzie probably was...
  14. Not to give Pedro the benefit of the doubt, but I am sure he knows and is just not snitching and putting his business out there in case they come back and fine him.
  15. I am having a harder and harder time explaining why it happens to a few specific franchise, and not others.
  16. After Vaughn and Torkleson's struggles, I get it.
  17. I was kind of thinking the same thing. I can see passing on the 1B, but I can't see this organization passing on a dominant lefty unless there is some red flag out there. I guess the other thing is that they have some kind of structured plan already in place with the HS kid taking a bit less so they can spend it over the rest of the picks, including some post round 10 stuff.
  18. DFA'd to make room for Tim Hill.
  19. Plus he isn't Latin enough to be released that quickly.
  20. Seems like a pretty extreme punishment to me.
  21. I think people way overestimate how many people would turn down an MLB managerial job. Outside of guys with long track records and some ability to be picky, the number is near zero.
