  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Which is why he hasn't moved. The Bulls would only move Deng if that sort of offer was on the table and I believe the only deal they could possibly do that allows that to happen would be a McGrady deal, but I find that very unlikely. Otherwise, Deng will stay here this off-season until the Bulls are able to sign a FA (or two) and at that point the team will decide whether Deng fits the current lineup or if they would be better served dealing him for another guy whose signed long-term but is a better positional fit (Al Jefferson is an option). Or he would be part of a sign and trade for a Rudy Gay, etc. I think the Bulls pay Deng a lot less than McGrady is paid, so we would still have to move salaries into there, which would really take players off of the court for the Bulls.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) So, there was one other person who had been trying to get on the Indiana Senate Primary ballot against Bayh, Tamyra d'Ipppolito, a cafe owner from Bloomington. As of yesterday it seemed like she had about 23 twitter followers and had raised $60 on ActBlue. And she's a former Lehman Bros. employee. Yesterday she was a few thousand signatures short of the needed number, but today it appears that, unless she's received some questionable assistance in getting those remaining signatures, she'll qualify for the primary ballot. That would mean the only way that she would not be the nominee is if the Indiana Democrats could mount a successful write-in campaign against her in the primary. This is the worst case scenario for the Dems. At least if she fell short, the party could pick someone.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) Right now the Bulls are only going to move him for expirings. If not, they'll hold onto him and eventually use him as a S/T component. Deng is quietly having a really really good season and from what I've read he has solid trade value. I can't see anyone taking on Deng for an expiring deal right now.
  4. Evan Palin? http://www.optimusnews.com/09728/senator-e...hite-house-run/
  5. Its the curse of Rich Daley. That's right, I am starting it.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 07:56 AM) It's not that the Bulls wouldn't get Lebron because of Deng, it's that Lebron wouldn't want to come here as much as a place that had a better opening for him. I doubt a guy who is the best in the league at his position is worried about Deng. If he wanted to play in Chicago, that isn't something that would stop him. Its not like he is going to lose playing time to him or something.
  7. QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) What's his name It was the same guy that was grabbing his junk the other day.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) If this has been posted, it's OK. It needs to be posted again. Joe Pos rocks. Sports writers will have to put their votes where their mouths are now. They have b****ed for years about cheaters, and this will be their chance to prove it with about the cleanest perceived player superstar in the last 20 years or so.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I know someone who's getting a Joe Crede love doll today! It is so realistic once you stick it in... The doll throws its back out.
  10. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) There's a few actually, the Indiana Dem bench is surprisingly deep. Wouldn't be surprised to see Donnelly named to that nod. Even with knowing Donnelly personally even, I don't think he wins. He may get the nod, but I can't see him winning this time around.
  11. I haven't heard anything about an injury until now for Dye.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) I assume you also have a problem with corporations that exist as mailboxes in Bermuda? Or with Dan Coates? Nice projection there. Obviously since I posted it, I must not only believe it, but fully endorse it. Still turning everything into what you want I see.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) A mid first round pick and an expiring contract for Tyrus? Yes, please. I will go ahead and state this very clearly now. I don't even care if he becomes a star player wherever he lands. He was never going to amount to anything here in Chicago, and he is just a waste of space, plus a ticking timebomb.
  14. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) The hot rumor is now Tyrus Thomas to the Timberwolves: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-t...o&type=lgns I can't say I'd like this idea unless we already had a deal in place for Al, mostly because Thomas isn't the third big man we need. We need a defensive center that's a legit 7 footer, and while Thomas is certainly athletic enough, I don't think it makes sense to add him to play alongside Love/Jefferson. That being said, if it only cost expiring deals/bench players, it wouldn't hurt. I certainly wouldn't give up one of our firsts or any real talent, however. I love the idea of adding first round picks to go along with the free agents we can sign. It really helps us get deeper for the forseeable future. They just have to get at least one of the big guys in free agency.
  15. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) For those of you interested in catching the games in which Hawks players are in I give you the Chicago Blackhawks Olympic Schedule Thanks for that. I didn't realize that we would start play that quickly.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) That assumes that things haven't changed in the last 10 years or so. I think the simplest question in response is...if these folks are so careful about accounting, then how did they accidentally miss an $8 trillion housing bubble in the U.S. (and, as is now becoming apparent, have the same thing happen in country after country. Dubai, Greece, Spain, etc.) My explanation is that they didn't miss it...but that we've set up a system that provides strong incentives for short-term gains but no downside for intermediate or long-term losses. Thus, we've incentivized having Wall Street creating bubbles and taking huge profits on the way up, while someone else takes the losses on the way down. Thank you Barney Frank.
  17. This could also be Bayh's problem. http://frugalhoosiers.com/?p=7023
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) The deadline to file to run for the Senate in Indiana is this Friday. Thanks Evan. Really gives us a lot of time to recruit a top tier contender. Yeah, unless they import someone, there is no one that can compete on Bayh's level as a Democrat.
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) HuffPo Twitter: Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) to retire... developing... Awesome. Its been 20 years too long in coming.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) So many possible responses here. I'll go with... mmmmmkay. Because obviously you have to be totally evil and greedy to make it in the financial sector. Its great to know that stereotypes can still fly with ease.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 08:02 AM) The suggestion from both official press reports I've read is that there was a quasi-loophole in the EU rules that allowed Greece to not show these loans on their books if GS structured them in a certain way. Basically, its everyone's fault, Greece wanted to get more into the financial wizardry game, Goldman was happy to enable them in exchange for a very lucrative contract to make sure they didn't break the official rules. So instead of being the EU's it is Goldman's fault for following laws. Great article.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) Can you cite for me any bit of evidence suggesting anything other than a negative correlation between Health Care outcomes and increasing insurance company profitability? If, hypothetically, I were to reject the contention that profitability for its own sake is the greatest good possible and instead were to believe that the goal of the medical industry was health care, and the free market system actually worked in this industry, then you should have no problem demonstrating that to me. If insurers are more profitable and the system is working, then either they should be improving efficiency, expanding coverage, or producing overall better health care outcomes. If insurers are more profitable and the system is fundamentally broken, then they may be less efficient, contracting coverage, and producing worse overall health care outcomes. Hilarious that you can even post the last line with a straight face, and then recommend that the federal government get involved. The Kings of running fundamentally flawed, inefficient, contracting coverage and worse productive plans across the spectrum.
  23. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) Anyone know where I can buy an Orber Moreno jersey? I want to get one early before everyone starts looking for one. Tijuana? Caracas?
