Weird Unemployment Data
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) Off the time of my head it was something like this Compensation $400/week each for 12 months $41,600 Food Stamps $225 /mo each $5,400 Federally fund day care not sure Federally fund health care not sure The point was that in certain cases it is more profitable to stay unemployed and the duration is as helpful as it seemed. There would probably be a nice sized EITC in there as well.

Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) What's offensive? That, or the comment about his source being Santa Claus? Or both? Because (again) in both situations I wasn't attacking Rock personally, I was saying his source isn't worth anything. If you are going to make a statement like that, you probably should provide some solid evidence where he has been wrong. Otherwise you are pretty much just picking a pointless fight.

Sox Front Office to get Reality Show
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) But how often do they hang out in the front office? That might increase KW's chances. AJ= player #1. The race is between Kenny and Ozzie for sure.

Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) Yep, that's an issue. My guess is that Pena is the odd man out if somebody like Torres is needed to fill a long relief/multiple innings role (is he still in the organization?). But letting Pena go less than a year after trading for him makes little sense. Jenks has thrown two-inning saves, but as long as he's the closer, he's not going to play the role of Vizcaino. Unfortunately, not only is Linebrink's salary an albatross, him simply taking up a roster spot may become problematic as well. Pena isn't going anywhere unless he is awful.

If you could have 1 player back
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) I think KW has said in the past that it's the opposite--they offered BA and Arizona didn't want him. That's how I remember it.

Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) On this team, that's certainly a consideration. But the way I see it, Damon would be the only one on the roster with a leadoff hitter's skill set. (Outside of maybe Beckham, who has less base-stealing ability and I don't want taking extra pitches right now.) JMO, but I'd probably go: Damon, Beckham, Quentin, PK,.... and bat Pierre 9th. Damon's gap power would mesh nicely with Pierre's speed. He might also be the closest thing to a #3 hitter that we have. My top of the order might just be Pierre, Beckham, Damon.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) Why? He's a guy who can drive in runs too. I'd rather not waste that.

Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) The sad irony is that if Kenny indeed does sign Damon, you know that Ozzie will still pencil Pierre into the leadoff spot and bat Beckham 6th or something. I'd rather see Damon not hit leadoff, that is for sure.

If you could have 1 player back
QUOTE (Drew @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) Rowand for Thome meant CF went to Brian Anderson, who never panned out. But let's also not forget that Arizona wanted BA instead of Chris Young for Vazquez. Had KW sent Blondie and kept Young, 2006 may have been a different story. I don't even remember reading that the DBacks wanting Brian Anderson. I know I have seen a lot of people say they would have rather traded BA, but not actual evidence that was a real choice for Kenny. Do you have a link to anything like that?

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) Happy Cubs Ticket day to you. This year I feel good about my fellow Chicagoan who loves the goofs from the north side. So they will be allowed to access the site. However I must make sure that they dont steal valuable bandwidth, so I am redirecting all of their requests through one of our Indian offices. Nothing like the 570 to 700ms response time for tickets. If they open up a few windows their computers will grind to a halt.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
The nice thing about keeping Kirk is that it still leaves the Bulls with Hinrich if the off season ends up being a bust, or even just a partial bust. At worst, they can still do a sign and trade, which would be much more desirable to a team who could be losing their superstar.

Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) So Kenny 'will talk about this on sunday'. Is that after or before he signs with Detroit? Heyman thinks it will likely be Detroit because of money. Cowley still has the sox as front funners. Mark Gonzales' source that says 'they have a good shot at getting him'. A Rosenthal source believes that a deal may be close with the Sox. Bruce Levine doesn't think its going to happen. Okay so what the hell is going on? Why wait until Sunday to talk Kenny? Is that his unofficial deadline to make a deal? Who has the most reliable sources? Kenny Williams
