Pods or Crawford?
So maybe he means would you rather have Pods plus the $10,000,000 in salary, or Crawford? (I hope that is what he means!)

The Republican Thread
HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK 1. Open a new file in your computer. 2. Name it "Barack Obama." 3. Send it to the Recycle Bin. 4. Empty the Recycle Bin. 5. Your PC will ask you: "Do you really want to get rid of "Barack Obama?" 6. Firmly Click "Yes." 7. Feel better? GOOD! - Tomorrow we'll do Nancy Pelosi.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) Well, here is my argument I have had when people say " i havent had time to read the bill". Often, major bills are worked on for MONTHS, maybe over a year. They are in committees and talked about within party meetings. So, by the time the bill comes to vote, you've had AMPLE time to go and read it, or get a "cliff's notes" version from someone. To say " I havent had time to read this bill" is absolute lazyness. There are obvious exceptions when parts are put in at the last minute. but in general, they've had plenty of time. Why not, Congress doesn't read them either...

Would Joe Mauer be worth going after as a FA in 2010?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) If you could convince me he could stay at C the whole time, and I had our current pitching staff, and a bunch of young guys sitting there to fill every other spot on our roster, I'd give him that type of deal. I'm just not sure you do that for a 1b. Especially when the Odds are we are going to have a 1B out of either our vets (PK, JT, JD) or one of the defensively challenged kids (Viciedo or Flowers).

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) How come I am the only one on here that complains about working too much? Seriously though the people I work with tell me I am a mad man for working the hours that I work. Because some of us are unemployed?

hype for minor leaguers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Adkins Diaz Barcelo (although injuries wrecked his stuff b4 the majors) Rauch (he was never a devastating FB type of pitcher, from the beginning...but especially after the labrum tear) Poreda Ginter Corwin Malone Brian West Royce Ring Joe Valentine Danny Wright could rush it up there b4 injuries wiped him out, too. Kip Wells always had "ace" stuff, just couldn't put it all together mentally. You could argue that Buehrle, Garland (sort of ours) and Josh Fogg all enjoyed success at the big league level because of pitches other than a 4 season fastball. Richard is a good counter-example here. Just maturity and maybe his almost Ivan Drago-esque (Rocky III reference) workout regimen. I love the 90's strikes back...

Peavy throwing from the mound
QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) Wouldn't that mean you are agreeing with him? D'oh, I read it as "push" not "rush"

Peavy throwing from the mound
QUOTE (thedoctor @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) given the investment they just made i seriously doubt the organization would rush peavy back. I think the opposite. Why would they endanger their $56 million investment?

Sox Acquire Jake Peavy for Richard, Poreda, Russell, Carter
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Great read in the LAT about how the Peavy deal went down. Interesting clarification on the dollar aspect that was in the unknown until now...

Peavy throwing from the mound
It was interesting that the video showed him wearing #30 instead of #44 while he was throwing in the pen.

After the trade...
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) That's true. But if you're "going for it," counting on unproven prospects to fill the closer role when you already have a successful closer under team control is not a good idea. We did it in 2005...

Clayton Richard debut

8/1 Games
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) I believe that it will be 10 days since his demotion, yes. Torres just pitched, so he won't be up until the 5th spot comes around at least. I don't know what schedule Hudson is on either.
