Colon to the DL - per the Score
That is bulls***. If that is really the case, why hasn't Octavio Dotel taken over for Bobby Jenks and why did both John Danks and Gavin Floyd get given jobs in 2008, dispite their horrible 2007's? Why did Paul Konerko keep his job in 2008 when he was horrible to start the season? Why did Brent Lillibridge stick as long as he did? Why does Ozzie keep sending Scott Linbrink out there? Why did Mike MacDougal make the team this year? Why did Jimmy Gobble stick around as long as he did? and so on and so on...

7/28 Games
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) Has anyone noticed Lillebrdge is quietly getting better at hitting at Charlotte? He is up to .287 over the past 2-3 weeks. Not sayin he is fixed but if he finishes the year at .270-.280 and gets a ST invite and does well. Maybe we have another nice option for the infield come next year or a trading chip. I would love to get an account of how that .287 looks. Is he hitting down on the ball, or is he still hitting flyballs?

Josh Fields wants a trade
Boy, you can almost see the teams lining up for a guy who hits 25 homers and strikes out 200 times.... http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=...uD77&ref=nf

So should we bet on Colon to the DL and Carlos Torres with another spot start and Richard into the rotation...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Then perfect innings, not, no-hit innings? Longest perfect streak, but not the longest no hit streak. Correct.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 08:30 PM) This obviously means that his 14 straight no-hit innings is also a record, correct? No. Johnny Vandermeer through two straight no hitters back in the 20's IIRC.

Latest Roster Moves. . .
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) You are seriously comparing a guy who hit 27 HR in his rookie season to a guy on the local softball diamond? 23 FWIW...

Latest Roster Moves. . .
They have tried for three years to get Fields to cut down on his swing. During the times where he listened, he made contact at a respectable rate. When he didn't listen, his swing got so long that he couldn't hit an OK fastball. There really isn't much you can do with a player who refuses to make the necesary adjustments to be an everyday major leaguer.

beckham in the 2-hole?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) You've already done that by forcing him to play a position in the major leagues which he NEVER played before his career. Do you really think they are concerned about stunting his growth? Or maybe they don't want to double the pressure by making him hit #2 AND adding a new position to his resume?

The 2009 Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) The truth of the matter is that the team needs more offensive versatility, in my opinion. I think the more versatile young core and pitching staff is actually fine now. However, going forward we cannot continue to have 4 slow, plodding sluggers in the heart of the lineup, right or left handed. When they are hot, they are seemingly all hot, but lately it's either hot or cold, particularly because we are seemingly so dependent on the home run to score. check this out: http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/sort/doubles/order/true http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/sort/triples/order/true we are 28th in doubles and 25th in triples of all MLB teams. As you might expect, we are 5th in homers of all MLB teams. However, in the AL, we are just 9th in runs scored out of 14 teams, 9th in batting average, 8th in OBP and 9th in OPS. The truth is that homers just aren't scoring enough runs for us, and we need to make a change where we reconfigure away from having so many slower dh's on the team. We need to jettison either Thome or Dye after this season and bring in a more versatile .280ish hitter who can split the gaps and run at least a little, hopefully a lot to leg out some triples. We are slowly making that change. Its why you have seen guys like Beckham and Getz in the line up, and guys like Mitchell and Thompson drafted. It takes a while for things to change though.

Halladay Superthread
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Yeah but most of us agree that the majority of stuff you hear is crap these writers make up or really is not true. I would say after listening to baseball people talk, the majority of it is true, it is just nearly impossible to put everything together to pull off a blockbuster trade.

beckham in the 2-hole?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) He did? Doesn't that sort of contradict all the stuff he said to guys like Fields and Anderson then? He threatened those two all the time... After they failed repeatedly and questioned Ozzie about it... That would be a little different.
