  3. Mark Buehrle Throws 18th Perfect Game in MLB History By SoxNet Chicago White Sox starter Mark Buehrle threw the 18th perfect game in MLB history on Thursday. The perfect game was part of a 5-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays which gave the Sox a share of the division league with the Detroit Tigers. The perfect game was the 2nd in White Sox history. Mark Buehrle has now started and closed a world series game, thrown a perfect game, and a no-hitter. We are researching but we believe he might be the first player in MLB history to accomplish all of those tasks and he is the 6th player in MLB history to throw both a no-hitter and a perfect game....More at the Link (Including Video's, Image's, Quotes, and Interesting Facts)
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) I wonder how pumped MB will be if he also pitches us in to a first place tie? Knowing Mark, he will be happier around that than any personal achievement.
  5. Has anyone seen a good replay of that foul down the line by Burrel? Was it really foul?
  6. QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) I remember that thread Epic Fail For those who weren't around in 2004, tune in and enjoy. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17674
  7. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) One of the most terrible threads in history. The funny part is that it has been 5 years since it was made.
  8. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) His fastball is straight as an arrow and I can't tell if this gun is right or not but he is only topping out at 91. The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle, Something That Ozzie Needs to Confront
  9. So guys, how does Buehrle look today? Is his velocity OK?
  10. Who exactly does Anderson think wants him right now?
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Josh Fields? Forever.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 09:17 AM) So what happened to Torres? Was he sent down after the game to bring back Poreda? Torres is going to be sent out tomorrow for Colon. I don't think we can recall Poreda for 10 days (starting yesterday) without placing someone on the DL.
  13. Oh spare me the bulls***. The "I did it for my family" thing actually makes me totally lose respect for the guy. What about every other guy out there who is a father playing baseball who made the conscious decision to do things right and not take PEDs because they want their kids to look up to them and respect them not only as a breadwinner, but as a example of the type of person who you want your kids to become. What about those fathers that people like Jim Parque knocked out of the game by taking their places because they cheated to get an extra edge? How does he feel about taking food out of their mouths? Spare me the self-pity and the artificial tears. A lot of fathers face the choice of lying/cheating/stealing for their kids every day, under dire circumstances. Its not like his kids were going to starve. He did it to try to win the lottery, not to save his destitute family.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:51 AM) Who cares, I'm pretty sure a good amount of people watching at home were cursing their heads off yelling at bobby through the TV. He sucked, fans were pissed. Get over it. This is irony at its best. People passing opinion on people, who can't stand to have opinion passed on them. Get over it indeed.
  15. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Thanks to MLB.TV I missed the entire 9th inning. Can anyone tell me what happened with the Thornton/Longoria battle? Was that the final out? Matt went 2-0 on Evan, grooved him a fastball and he popped it up weakly to LC.
  16. You don't often see Longoria pop up a 2-0 fastball.
  17. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) trust me I know this...its the assmonkey admins/mods (my) fault.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Pretty damn slow for a slider, does he have a change or slow curve ? That's what I was thinking.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) If becoming more "Cub-like" includes spending to the cap, gaining a ton of fans, selling out every game, being within a few wins of being in the SCF and signing talented free agents then I'm all for it. It's fun to actually see the team make moves to be successful and show that they give a s***. Beats developing talent like Roenick, Cheli, Sullivan, Belfour, etc and then trading them away when the big contract came up while not being able to watch them on tv and filling 1/3rd of the arena. People need to relax with the Cub comparisons. Yes, McDonough worked for the Cubs. Guess what? He was mainly their marketing guy there. The 2 years he was president he took them from a cellar dweller team to a team nearly in the World Series. The guy obviously has to have some clue as to what he is doing. Anyways, I'll take John any day over Pully, Dollar Bill, Braindead Dale and the rest of the old crew. Word I don't care who is leading. This whole winning some f***ing games philosophy the Hawks have adapted the last couple of years is a nice change from the prior 10 years.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) These have been like playoff games. It really has been a great series so far. It shows the Sox can play with the top teams when their heads are in it.
