Quick inning, including a DP for Mark.

7/18 Sox Vs. O's on Fox
Just missed it to the pen in LF. If it is 90 degrees out, it is 4-1. Instead we get nothing.

Another good thing about Guillen, he doesn't abuse his starters
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) With Seay, Zumaya, Dolsi, Lyon, Rodney and Perry, they have perhaps a better or at least comparable bullpen with the White Sox in terms of ability/potential. Maybe our lefties (Richard/Poreda/Thornton) give us the advantage overall, but those five righties all have pretty nasty stuff, or had in in the not so distant past. You throw in Zach Miner as the long man, they're not bad. At any rate, I can understand with how well Jackson (all year) and Verlander (since the middle of May) have been going and with their middle relief struggles last year, but it's going to come back to bite them, surely. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) They also have a risk that about half of those guys could be injured tomorrow and it would shock no one. That didn't take long

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) Well it looks like both Lackey and Figgins will indeed hit theOpen Market. The funny thing is, i could see them both landing with the Sox. Wow Anaheim could look very different next year.

Nice play by Buehrle to snag the bounding ball and look Markakis back to second.

Post Your Questions for Stefan Gartrell
Tell me your impressions playing on that Birmingham team that started the season together... Is that the best team you have ever played on?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) The Sox can win today. I'm starting Bergesen in fantasy baseball. Between fantasy sports and the monthly wallpaper, I'm a sports curse. Do me this favor. Pick up every single Twin and Tiger possible in your fantasy league K? Thanks

What Movie Have You Seen The Most?
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) History of the World? For me probably Happy Gilmore. HOTW is great, but it isn't Blazing Saddles... Boy speaking of stereotypes...

State your unpopular opinions
professional wrestling is the pointless, and I can't believe people pay lots of money to watch something completely fake.

Halladay Superthread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) The Jays have all sorts of people leaking these "rumors" to the media. They are hoping someone gets desperate and offers more. Im not sure I would trade Weaver straight up for Halladay. He's shown consistent improvement in BAA and WHIP in the last 3 seasons and he's a better long term bet IMO. Especially considering Halladay is a short term fix. With salary considerations factored in, there is zero chance I would trade Weaver for Halladay straight up, let alone with other players.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Angels evidently are rumored to be offering Jared Weaver, Howie Kendrick, and prospects. Or the Jays are asking for that. Not quite certain which way it goes, but heard it on the radio while heading back from lunch. If that were the case, Halladay would be on the next plane to LAX. That has to be what Toronto is asking for.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Some great ESPN nuggets.. I don't think there is any way KW would ever give up that much for anyone.. This place would burn to the ground if Kenny ever gave that up for Halladay.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) I LOVE the cartoon series. I DVR them for my 10 month old daughter to help her slow down at night to get ready for bed. That show is awesome. I watch it when it is on, I won't lie. I enjoy it a heckuva lot more than most of the other kids shows.

The Economy, stupid
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) I never did post my award winning post about this. Something about getting fired from my job and getting all wrapped up in that. The "banks" argued that FASB (the accounting standards board for US) was forcing them to write down assets to an arbitrarily low value. That's the short answer. So now that the value can be set to "market value (whatever that means, hence the problem)" again, they are seeing "gains" from their balance sheets. That's a waaaaay simplistic answer, there's obviously much more to it. The big problem is that market value and actual worth can be two completely different things, especially in a super specialized niche market. There could literally be no one who wants to buy the packaged assets, but it does not mean they are worthless, because they are made up of a large pool of assets that still have a worth individually, meaning that by very definition they could never be worthless. M2M fails in these situations.
