Mark Buehrle: The Forgotten Ace
The thing is, all Mark would have to do is run his mouth every once in a while to get attention, and he would have a $20 million a year contract some where and he would be all over ESPN.

Official 2009-2010 NHL Thread
So even if Hossa is out a couple of months, I still bet he plays more games next year than Havlat will.

What's wrong with Bobby Jenks?
QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) Thats very true all of it. The velocity has been going down but for the last couple seasons - the excuse was always - "he is doing it intentionally and he can still bring it at 100 when he needs to". I think even Jenks himself has said that. I haven't seen 100, but I have seen him hit 99 a couple of times this year.

Halladay Superthread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) It took what, 10 minutes from when this thread was moved for another Halladay thread to appear in PHT? Hence why this forum is basically useless.

White Sox rejected in bid for Halladay
So in other words, all of the budgetary crap that people freaked out about, was just a smoke screen... again.

You Asked for it, I finally Caved In
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) hahaha nice!! Lets look at KW's recent 'mid season' splashes: 2003- Roberto Alomar and Carl Everett 2004- Freddy Garcia, Ben Davis, Carl Everett, Jose Contreras 2005- Geoff 'world series hero' Blum 2006-David Riske, Mike MacDougal, Sandy Alomar Jr. 2007- Danny Richar, Michael Dubee, Jon Link 2008- Ken Griffey Jr. I think '04 was KW's best mid season dealing. In '03 i remember being pumped about Alomar and Everett. Last year was pretty exciting to see Griffey wearing a Sox uniform. Hopefully he has an '04 type mid season splash. We need a SP if were going to make a run this year. The funny thing was in 2004, there was a HUGE uproar about both Contreras and how much we have up to get Garcia. That has completely changed in hindsite.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) 100 pitches is different than 115 pitches. It's also Lee vs Richard and the fact that the Indians don't have a bullpen option that doesn't suck. Richard has thrown over 100 pitches three times all year. In his last 5 starts he threw 65, 81, 85, 80 and 46. I'm a little surprised that he even came out for the 8th. He made a decision and it didn't work out - I think it's weak for McDowell to take that and try to make it into a bigger thing about Ozzie hiding behind Jenks. And we all know that Cliff Lee has put in both higher pitch counts and innings worked over the course of a season than Richard has. I really wouldn't be surprised if Richard gets his ass kicked next time around because his arm is tired from last night.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) You noticed how after that blog was made, Slayer has only missed what... 1 game? He won't be nearly as dicked around. Ozzie might not like it, and even Hawk can add his 2 cents, but the organization takes it to heart. I don't agree with BlackJack on this one though. Except that Beckham was pretty much playing everyday before he wrote that column as well. He was in 5-6 games a week.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
The big thing McDowell is forgetting is that Richard isn't conditioned to go 120+ pitches. Its just like anything, where your body has to be trained for it. If you are trained to run 5 miles, running a half marathon isn't going to happen. You have to ramp up to get there. Going to Jenks was the only intelligent move.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Hell if we can get Boozer WITH Hinrich involved, do it. I COULD understand the front office being hesitant to deal Tyrus which is understandable. Maybe a future star, potential off the charts, could bite them in the ass, yada, yada, yada. But Kirk f***ing Hinrich?!?! What kind of s*** is that? The problem is who plays guard if he is gone?

What's wrong with Bobby Jenks?
Out of his curiousity, did this downturn start when he went for the 1+ inning save?

What was Josh Fields' peak value?
The day he was drafted?

Baltimore and Atlanta scouting the ChiSox last night?
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Jim Fregosi, a special assistant to the Braves GM, is at the game tonight. Let the speculation begin.

6 great innings by Clayton, hopefully that is it for him. Let him go out on top.

Danks to Miss Start, Torres to start in place
Well that probably explains the last couple of starts for John-boy.

Carlos Torres on the way
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) He said Torres was going to be unavailable to pitch for Charlotte and that Carlos only thinks it's a one game promotion. Meaning he will be the guy sent down for the doubleheader when Colon is recalled.

Carlos Torres on the way

Man Crush Poll
I would go with Q if they were both healthy. To me, that is the only thing that makes this a contest.

Carlos Torres on the way
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Even though it's already pretty much certain, the Knights broadcaster also said that Torres was on his way to Chicago. Officially, or just in a "man he is going to make it to the majors" kind of way?

D. Wise gives me....
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Has a reporter ever asked Ozzie in a postgame interview why he dislikes Anderson? Joe Cowley has an article about Ozzie being a racist today... Its in there.

Breaded Steak sandwich...
QUOTE (Molto @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) I have yet to go to this place, but if it's like La Milanese, then take Shipps word that it's good. As for Ricobenes ... eh. When my family had a place day after day we would have people come in who swore Ricobenes was the best. Then they'd try our steak sandwiches and changed their minds rather quickly. La Milanese was on par if not better than ours ... Ricobenes never compared to either. I demand proof... mostly because I love a good breaded.

State your unpopular opinions
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) What was that bit about an advanced pre-Egyptian society? I've come across that a few times in the books that I have read about the pyramids.

Gordon Beckham at 3B
They have to move Becks away from third base, or he has to improve drastically soon. Right now he has zero range, which is what worries me the most.
