  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) I just noticed this post after I put it on your Facebook status. lol. I started saying this last year. Do we have any nuclear weapons our government can test or anything? Too bad it's in a populated area or it'd be perfect. Would the south half of Minnesota really be THAT big of a loss?
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) Perfect usage of that smilie.
  3. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) Is Bacon Slayer the WORST fielding 3B ever??? LOL seriously, he misses everything Plus he has no range at third. He has the reactions of a middle infielder for sure. Then again, no one drafted him for his glove...
  4. QUOTE (elmo9246 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) Hawk's "Hell Yes!" is so unnecessary, but it makes me laugh whenever he does it. Give it up. He is just saying what we are all thinking.
  5. And when Hawk said he wanted to die in the booth, he almost got his wish tonight. He about burst a blood vessel on that DP.
  6. I can't believe we still have seven games up there this year...
  7. The White Sox WILL be in second place at the ASB, thank God.
  8. Where is the Jenks putaway pitch with two strikes?
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) What's the score, 8-6? 8-5 for now.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) What the hell are you talking about? The error and the one he get lucky and missed from Cuddyer.
  11. Wow, that is a couple of mental mistakes tonight by the Twins. You don't often see that.
  12. Gavin could stand to read the fastball over his hands book on Crede...
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) That last pitch Gavin threw to Mauer was an off-speed pitch on the outside corner. Mauer should have hit it hard. But eh... The DP ball was on the outer half as well.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 08:30 PM) If Gavin Floyd wants to be a rich man, he needs to start selling his secrets on how to pitch to Mauer. And Morneau. Geesh. Gavin has a ginormus sack to come in here and pitch like he has in a very important game.
  15. The Twins need to hold a charity auction for pushing the button to implode the Metrodome. I know there would be some White Sox players open their pocketbooks for it.
  16. If Gavin Floyd wants to be a rich man, he needs to start selling his secrets on how to pitch to Mauer.

QUOTE (The Bones @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:05 AM) Saw Bruno and holy s*** Sacha Baron Cohen took it to a whole new level. Not gonna say it was funnier than Borat but about the same. It is much more daring and bolder than Borat. There were moments where he had to honestly be scared for his life or at least his physical well-being. It was also funny to see cult favorite Ron Paul exposed as such a homophobe. Ron Paul was exposed as a homophobe long before this movie...
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Can someone please explain to me the outrage over the FORMER casket of Till? It was decaying in a warehouse with animals living in it and people (Jesse Jackson especially) are freaking out over it. I dont get it. He's not in it anymore. To me, it's just a box now. They were raising money to make a memorial to Till centered around the old casket. The cemetery was supposed to be preserving it until the memorial was completed.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) Rotation juggling this early in the season doesn't make much sense. Especially since we're setting up the rotation against the 3rd place team in the division. Might be a different story if it was against Detroit. Recognizing that we want our best pitchers going where we have the most troubles winning is a great move. Especially since we are in third place if we get swept in this series.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) The problem I have with moving Alexei is if that would hurt our cuban connection. However, if they are professionals, it should be no problem. I got no problem trading Alexei while his value is high though. He's probably at maximum value right now as teams probably feel he can still play SS, but in the long run he'll have to move to 2B, CF, or LF. Did it matter when we let Orlando Hernandez walk away? Not really. Jaime Torres and the Sox have a great relationship, and in the end, that is the big thing.
  21. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) I am still pissed with Ozzie's rotation juggling. We could have won Thursday's game against a crappy Cleveland pitcher with Danks pitching. A bird in-hand is better than two in the bush. Instead we got nothing. Danks has struggled against the Twins, especially in Minnesota (6.19 ERA), so it wasn't as if we were really giving ourselves some favorable matchup. Richard would have been fine pitching in our regularly scheduled Metrodome losses to the Twins. I'd much rather have my best players going against the best teams, especially when we are in a race with them. Besides if Danks would have pitched like that against Cleveland, he might not have won that game either.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 08:22 AM) But he's hitting almost .400 this year, and even if you pitch to him, when it got to 2-0, grooving one right down the middle is a very odd attempt to get him out. That was one of those AB that if it was Jerry Manuel managing and the Sox let him go, Hawk would be talking about once in a while for years to come, mocking him. One of Hawk's pet phrases was definitely true last night, Minnesota didn't beat the White Sox, the White Sox beat themselves. I just looked it up, Mauer is hitting .356 against LHP this year, but Morneau isn't bad either at .336. I wouldn't have pitched to Mauer in that situation and if Morneau hit the ball 9 miles I would just live with it. Obviously against Thornton and against LHP this year they are pretty similar, so if you're not going to walk Mauer at the beginning of the AB, if he gets into the "catbird" seat, you can't give him something he can hit hard. You have to put him on and take your chances with Morneau. If you fall way behind him, I don't think too many would be upset if you put him on as well, but letting a guy hitting .388 beat you in that situation with first base open usually doesn't happen. Besides we all know if Thornton pitches around Mauer, Morneau would have hit the ball 500 feet anyway. It really isn't going to be a good situation either way.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) At least he says it bad because the team was bad. I still think JR should make it policy for White Sox employees not to ever talk about the attendance, unless its totally positive.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 07:45 AM) I don't think there are many good losses. If moral victories meant anything, wouldn't last night's result been different considering the "moral victory" of making a 9-2 game, 9-8 the day before? Both losses were pretty much the same, get behind big, come back, Friday at least they tied it, but the bottom line is they ultimately lose. I prefer real over moral. I think a moral victory out of last night's game is a reach anyway. Walk the first four batters of the game, they all score. Then tie it up only to pitch to a guy flirting with .400 with a 2-0 count and first base open with a guy hitting .167 lifetime against the guy on the mound on deck, and have him drive in the go ahead and eventual winning run, then give up an insurance run on a bunt everyone in the world knew was coming after giving the baserunner 3rd base as a gift. To be fair, Mauer was only 4-18 before that against Thornton.
