  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Colon threw nearly all fastballs tonight with some changeups. Any word on his velocity?
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Haren is younger, and is signed through 2013 at an average rate of about 12.25M. As for the superior pitcher, it's actually much closer than you think. Haren, 73-57, 3.55 ERA, 1,118 IP, 1068 hits, 931 K's, 247 BB's, 1.18 WHIP Halladay, 141-69, 3.47 ERA, 1,930 IP, 1,881 hits, 1,393 K's, 437 BB's, 1.20 WHIP I think it would require a very similar package, Scenario thinks Haren would cost more, which I could actually believe. And don't forget, Halladay makes most of his starts against the AL East, while Haren is in the NL.
  3. There is a scary thought, and Death is not an option... Roland Burris or Alan Keyes as your Senator... I will say that is one spot where Indiana can LOL at a lot of states. Bayh and Lugar are a very impressive pair.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Thought I'd fire off this bit from former labor secretary Robert Reich. That is just dumb. Where do consumers get their money from? Oh yeah, investors who are willing to fund the companies that consumers work for. Money doesn't come out of no where, well unless you are the federal government.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Ah no he won't. Not enough time served. Well that is nice at least...
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) Good series and over the last 10 games have gained 2 games on Tigers and Minny. I just want somebody from the org to come out and say something along the lines of "f the Twins and their ballpark, we've come in here scared before, no more." Instead it will be more of the same I'm afraid from Ozzie and Hawk I'd be curious what the quotes sound like when the Twins head to NY, because they are the Yankees b****es.

  8. How do you get over $100,000 in campaign debt, while never having run for the office?
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) Yeah and I guess he has a built in excuse if he bombs because of the short rest. I'm just curious as to how much patience Ozzie truly has for him. We did this with Danks, and Floyd, and Garland... These guys have to take their lumps to learn at the major league level. Danks actually regressed big time during his first year. Its not a big surprise that a guy who just became a full time pitcher in the last few years is taking more than a half a season to get it together. Besides, really even Ozzie has said, he leaves the pitching up to Cooper.
  10. Happy Birthday
  11. Throw in Jason Caffey as one of the worst as well...
  12. Looking at the front page, there are three trades/moves being talked about, two of which have direct White Sox connections. What is the big need for a whole forum for the one topic that doesn't have the White Sox involved in it in an official capacity?
  13. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) Those rules are thrown out in the offseason though. You have til like 3 days before opening day for official rosters and you can put whoever down in the ahl if they have 1 way contracts, and even if it was during the season they could send him down he would just have to clear waivers. I think for salary cap purposes anyone on a one way contract counts towards the cap no matter what.
  14. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) Perhaps your plan gives them all that, but I doubt that will ever pass. If people working those jobs will bankrupt the system, who will work them without bankrupting the system? The reason the government has been turning a blind eye for generations is illegals do not take the same benefits a full citizen would take. The guest worker system I favor would allow US business, especially agriculture, to have the workers they need, while allowing the workers only limited benefits. The job, and the wages attached to the job, determine what benefits are paid. So what exactly happens to all of the people who are here illegally? Everyone has already said they won't get sent back, because we can't do that. If you make them citizens, you can't keep them out of the social programs, can you? Especially because as a group, the illegals from Mexico tend to be really poor, and would need the programs a lot more than normal.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Good point....I am not sure on his contract. At this stage of his career, I really doubt it. Pretty much all of the two ways are fringe guys or kids.
  16. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) I cannot see why the ability to see which posters in a specific thread feature was taken off. By far the best feature soxtalk has ever had (it was around for my first couple years posting also). It didn't make the site lag for me... was it really lagging other people that bad? When we have a few hundred posters on in a couple concentrated topics, it does. It was turned off again because of the trades and the volume it generated.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon was expected to report Wednesday night to Triple-A Charlotte, where he's expected to pitch Thursday night. A Charlotte spokesman said Colon was expected to arrive after 6 p.m. Colon hasn't pitched in a month because of knee inflammation. Manager Ozzie Guillen joked that Colon was probably at Michael Jackson's memorial service. Per Hardball Blog Scott Reifort said the same thing.
  18. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) They could send Sopel to the minors and it would put the cap back to +.... NOt unless Sopel has a two way contract...
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Heh. I know you queued this one up a few minutes ago. WAH? How dare you (get that exactly right)!
  20. ALL BOW TO PAUL KONERKO!!!
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) Must we b**** about Poreda not having the stuff to succeed at the big league level, when he's clearly succeeding at the big league level? He seems to not have anyone centering him up and hitting him hard, at least so far.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) Three-Breasted Whores. Nice Total Recall reference...
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Do the Sox really need Pie at this point? Not unless they really hate DeWayne Wise or Brian Anderson...
