  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Josh Johnson has a 2.78 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and he's 25 years old. There is no way he's going anywhere. Harang wouldn't be too bad. His ERA is a respectable 3.86. Haren would be f***ing outstanding, but he'd likely cost a lot. Meche won't be traded inside the division. Lannan would be coming from easy going DC to a division title race in Chicago. I'll pass. The Sox and Royals have a long trading history. A Meche deal could very well happen.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) or just give Poreda a chance in the rotation. Personally I didn't want to see him up here at all. I wanted him getting his innings in the minors. Let him work on those secondary pitches with no pressure.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) Oh, and I really don't want to see Bedard included in rumors with the Sox. I don't trust he's healthy. I can't see the Sox seriously chasing a guy with the reputation for being a little b****. They don't seem to mind difficult, but they don't like sissies.
  4. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) everyone is going to be looking for starters... thats why teams are trying to get something done before the all star break. shockingly... the most attractive name out there for other teams is Javy. I know for a fact that he is available but the price is going to be high IMO... and teams don't seemed to be scared to pay it. anyways... names I would like to see the Sox rumored with... Danny Haren Roy Halladay Josh Johnson Eric Bedard names that I won't be surprised to see, but I will be less excited about... Jonathan Sanchez Aaron Harang Bronson Arroyo Ian Snell Gil Meche John Lannan my prediction: Sox trade for Jon Garland if they can't get a big name Starter. Garland? For the money, I would rather keep Richard in the rotation and find another bat to come off of the bench.
  5. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) SS2K is a bad person. I couldn't resist it.
  6. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Yes and mine involved resting my chins on the tops of my hands.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Halladay's deal doesn't make sense for where this organization is at. Considering the astronomical deal he'll get after next year, I'd rather pass. It makes sense for a team that is this close to winning a division, if they really want to have the pitching staff to compete in the playoffs. Halladay, Buehrle, Contreras, Danks/Floyd is near untouchable as far as a playoff staff compared to the rest of the teams in the races.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) Face it: if we aren't going to give up Viciedo, Beckham, Danks, Flowers, or Hudson, we have no chance at Halladay. There's nobody really on Toronto I'd want (by the way, the hats they wear today and on Canada Day are awesome). Rios has a huge deal + his OBP is a whopping .318 this year. Wells makes way too much + he sucks. Scott Downs or Jason Frasor would be solid pick-ups to help our bullpen. Both have ERA's under 2. I have no doubt they want to get rid of Wells and/or Rios first, but when you are looking at losing a million passes through the turnstyle in one year, you do what you can to survive. Halladay is the one marketable commodity that they have. Personally, I'd still offer up the same package as we put up for Peavy for a year and a half of Roy Halladay.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) Connie's > Papa John's > Pizza Hut > Domino's One of these things is not like the other...
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Halladay >>> Peavy And that's no exaggeration on my part. I wouldn't disagree with that, plus the guy has made his career in the toughest division in baseball. He would just kill the AL Central.
  11. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) If Roy Halladay came to the Sox, the divison race would be over then...I don't see Toronto trading away their best player for anything less than major league proven talent and the best prospects. Toronto would be a great team to target right now. They are rumored to be looking to cut payroll, and their attendance is about 7000 people PER GAME lower. They have to be in a world of hurt right now. I'd be willling to bet if JR was willing to approve the addition of Peavy, he would approve Halladay.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) This is why it's pointless to go by radar guns, I guess. In the games I've seen, they've had his FB clocked 93-95. The gun in KC is probably 2-3mph fast.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) I think Ozzie gave Alexei to feel way too damn good about himself when he said that he was going to be a better SS than Ozzie Guillen. Now he's just not giving a s*** out there it seems. He hasn't exactly been gentle to him since he has lost his mind out there...
  14. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Game over. You've been waiting for days for that, haven't you? I guess you don't get to do that very often.
  15. QUOTE (dbaho @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) Lemme ask this question to Bulls fans.... Would you rather AI or Nate Robinson on a 1 year deal? Robinson. I want no part of AI without having a tough veteran coach, and I don't think Vinnie is up to the task.
  16. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Try the dollar stores. Or a local hobby shop...
  17. Ah, a little afternoon delight
  18. I don't think the Bulls can trade a guard right now, they have no depth left.
  19. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) Robin Ventura As Robins biggest fan, he was a terrible defender when he came up. He worked himself into a gold glover.
  20. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) My biggest problem with Fields is that he seems to have that "deer in headlights" look that Joe Borchard had. My biggest problem is that he doesn't take adversity well. He seems to shrink away and get hurt feelings when he gets challenged.
  21. I don't know about weird, but once coming back into O'Hare our plane got moved out of its airspace for a B2 bomber.
  22. Can I just post an RSS to Lostfans page?
  23. Well it sounds like the weather isn't going to cooperate around here, but hopefully everyone has a great holiday with their friends and family.
  24. Awesome. Let the Twins burn up the pen before we see them.
