That was an interesting play. Konerko showed an open mitt to MB, which ususally is the sign to throw over at second base. I don't think he meant to do that.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Can we get one f***ing call from the umpires against the Cubs? Soriano with leadoff hit after being bailed out by this crappy ump. Dadgumit!

I am waiting for them to start adding zero's to the currency like Mexico always has.

THey are just running wild on Soto/Dempster today. The Cubs know they are going, and still aren't coming close.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) It's been big, but you can't call a slider from a righty pitcher to a righty hitter that is caught inside. He's been calling that same cutter to lefties that is six/eight inches outside for Buehrle.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) The expectations are to high for an IF that has 3 players who werent playing that position in MLB last year. Hopefully theyll get better over time, but this year is most likely going to be a growing experience. 2010 is going to be the same way with Danks2, Allen, and Flowers most likely getting some shots.

Buehrle has been getting a huge zone too, especially on that corner. I can't complain.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) I did say yesterday I love your Tyrus Thomas comparison. Guys like this are the most frustrating to me. They have a world of talent, but waste it much of the time. I don't mind guys like Getz or Beckham who are learning the game and making mistakes. But at the age they are now, mental mistakes have no place in the game. You should have learned the intricacies of baseball by now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) Alexei showing he'd make a great CF. And a damned good shortstop if he pays f***ing attention to what is going on.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Yes...which is why 2nd is a lot better option (and we remove the soft hitting average fielder with a .625 OPS) It would make more sense if we had a guy who would put up better numbers, or play better defense at 3B, but I am not convinced that we have a guy ready to do that right now.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Also its hard to blame Beckham for not being amazing at 3b when its not his best position. When you play people out of position, they may not play that well. To be fair, its not like Beckham wasn't averaging an error every three or four games at his natural position either. The kid is an error machine right now. He still has a lot of growing to do defensively.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) now we're tied w/Seattle for 4th most errors in the league Well everyone wanted to see the kids play... Now we are seeing them.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Why is Cooper talking to MB? There was like one hard hit ball this inning. Probably to tell him just that, and to keep him focused.

The defense is just killing this team. They should have gone three up three down that inning.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) How would you be able to handle your home budget if your job suddenly slashed your compensation by about 1/3 and you had no easy way of raising it back? You'd have some issues cutting expenses wouldn't you? I know I would. And I'm pretty decent with money. Now, some states are better than others at planning for a rainy day, but that's beside the point. I'm not excusing states like CA that are hopeless either. The irony is, you are pretty much describing the health care plan, and its affect on doctors.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Last thing DJ said before the break was "Good call by Cousens" It was. You could clearly see the foot come off of the back on the first base camera angle.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) Wise draws the 2 out walk. I'm sure he'll be trying to steal.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) He probably also has a sacrifice hit of some sort. I WIN!!

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) Why does Jake Fox have the same OBP as his AVE? He has a walk. A sacrifice would negate that walk.

It will be interesting to see how quickly he trails Flowers, or if Flowers starts to play another position at all.

Buehrle is really looking pin point so far today. He is in and out and up and down perfectly. The change is tough.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) I doubt there is a single state that isn't over budget across the board. I know IL is in a pretty big hole, too. Indiana is still holding on to a large surplus.

QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) What is Jerry Reinsdorf up to, on Friday 6/26 he offered $148 Million to buy the Phoenix Coyotes. Being the owner of the Sox since 1981 and the Bulls since 1985, I find this odd that he suddenly has the urge to buy a hockey franchise. And with the addition of Camelback Ranch it seems like a bit much for a 73 year old. I wonder if the the sale of the Sox/Bulls is coming soon. I mean who else owns 3 major sports teams ? He bid $65 million less than the group that wanted to move them to Ontario. He is looking for a bargain, just like he got in the Bulls and Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:55 PM) Give him the whole season. His numbers so far this year are around where he was at last year at this point. I agree 100%. I would even bet he is ahead of where he was last year at this time.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Danks will be our Sizemore and Mitchell will be our Granderson..... That'd be jizz worthy. Even if ONE of those guys turns out like that, it would be a God send for the Sox.
