  1. I'd do it and figure out a way to get a piece of Sox memorablia involved.
  2. We are slightly over 1/4 of the way through the season, so now it is time to look back on the action thus far and see how people feel about the preformance of the players so far this season. Here is my version to start with... The A's Gavin Floyd- What needs to be said? Carlos Quentin -See Floyd John Danks- See Quentin Jose Contreras- Huge bounceback season thus far. ERA is about two runs lower than most people expect, and about a run better than most hoped for. Scott Linebrink- Done everything asked of him, getting the ball to Jenks. AJ Pierzynski- In the top 10 in the AL in batting average, one of 3 catchers to do so. Has been clutch all year. The B's Nick Massett- almost got an A, probably should have based on expectations. Has done what has been asked of him, dispite sporatic usage. Joe Crede- rebounded nicely after back surgery, about in line with where he should be. Javy Vazquez- Pitched solid, but not quite at where he was last year. Jermaine Dye- Off to solid start Brian Anderson- Been playing himself into more PT with solid play in sporatic chances. The C's Bobby Jenks- a few blowns saves early, done the job for the most part. Toby Hall- Done was has needed to be done as a back up catcher... nothing more, nothing else. Matt Thornton- Done OK job, nothing special Boone Logan- See Thornton The D's Pablo Ozuna- Speed hasn't returned since broken leg Orlando Cabrera- bat seems to be coming around, but average is 75 points under where it needs to be. Nick Swisher- started out as leadoff guy, couldn't hit, and has been very quiet in the bottom of the order as well. Played a good CF for the most part. Octavio Dotel- Really good or really bad. Hasn't been very reliable so far. The F's Mark Buehrle- Has just had some god-awful starts. Paul Konerko- part of me wanted to say incomplete because of the hand injury, but he has been 2003-esque so far. Jim Thome- Big disappointment so far. nothing has really gone right for him. Juan Uribe- Hitting right about .200, playing good defense, but it isn't enough, and seems to be losing his job. Incomplete Ehren Wasserman- Has been pounded so far this year, but hasn't had many innings after being called up. Alexei Ramirez- Seems to be getting hot, and maybe winning 2nd base job, but has sat on the bench for long periods of time, and really hasn't played at all since the first week of the season. Mike MacDougal- Thankfully sent to Charlotte Overall- team grade-B+ Out preformed most expectations to this point, but offense has been a huge drag on a very good start.

  4. QUOTE (Felix @ May 16, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Do you not like music, or do you just listen to CDs/vinyl/whatever? I like music, I just don't have the time for it that I used to have. I have pretty much cut down my listening to my basic favorites. Other than that, I have other things to worry about. To me reading is still more important, and with kids and studying for licensing exams at work, music just doesn't really fit in.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 18, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) Quentin is awesome. Cabrera gets a hold of onetwo. Yay.
  6. I'M TAKING IT BACK!!!! 23-20 +1.5 games
  7. Nick Massett doing his best El Duque immitation! You also have to like 13 runs and 15 hits in 5 innings. Danks again looked very solid. How about a 7-3 road trip b****es AND YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!!
  8. How about having Kenny Williams on the roster as the GM? This is the guy who kept Nick Massett and Joe Crede on the opening day roster. This is the guy who believed in Gavin Floyd and Jose Contreras when no one else did. He pulled Carlos Quentin off of the scrapheap for a prospect. Kenny got John Danks AND Nick Massett, when the whole planet, myself included, believed Brandon McCarthy was the next great thing. I could keep going, but yeah for Kenny!
  9. Congratulations, its the best day of your life!
  10. Wonderful. Thanks to the Obama-trons for taking over yet another thread for you propaganda. In all seriousness, you guys have done more to make me hate Barack Obama than just about anywhere else. I used to at least respect the guy, even if I didn't agree with him. The blind obsessive support is just scary, not to mention is makes have a discussion about anything than Obama-approved story lines impossible. The whole point of having separate threads was to allow people who knowingly have different opinions the chance to be able to speak their minds with other like-minded people, without being subject to partisian crap. Well thanks to your insistence, that is gone. Thanks again.
  11. The most interesting part for me is the comments from the Israeli newspaper. They sure didn't seem bothered by this, in fact they wanted to hear MORE talk like that. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard...rael-themselves
  12. Could this be the bomb that Hillary hinted about a little while back? http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05/15/wi...from-the-train/
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) Heres some other takes on it I applaud the new Federal "Jane Doe rape kit" initiative, but there is another equation here. What about those women who are traumatized and do not seek initial help or gather evidence? What about the women who do come forward, yet do nothing about the crime? In many cases of rape, the victim may just want to 'forget about it' and move on. An example would be a female college student who was raped by a friend or date. They are thinking, "I was drunk." "No one will believe me." "I flirted with him". The self accusations are endless. Will these women take the initiative to get something like this done...IMMEDIATELY? Being raped is traumatizing enough, but to have to go through the whole rape kit examination is replaying the ordeal over and over again. There are many women out there who would utilize this...but I'm afraid there are more out there that won't use this opportunity. Depending on the woman and the circumstances of her rape, a majority of women NEVER report this crime. It is a misperception that women are raped by seedy, Ted Bundy-ish strangers. In fact, most rapes occur between two people that know each other. Unfortunately,a lot of these women want to move on. They believe that they can "deal with it" in their own way and get over it. That is where I think this "Jane Doe" rape kit initiative is seriously flawed. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. So making it easier to prosecute these crimes isn't going to help underreporting? That makes no sense to me. Argue it could cause other problems, fine. It gives women the ability to have the evidence on hand, even if they feel they want to try to "get over it" at first, but as time passes decide she needs to prosecute to make sure the crime doesn't happen to anyone else. It actually could help with reporting.
  14. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 16, 2008 -> 06:47 AM) Latest PH8... That and Southside Hope refusing to cross into May were awesome.
  15. 0 I won a nano at our company Christmas party, and I have never turned the thing on.
  16. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 16, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) You didnt read the article obviously. Its not storing evidence in personal boxes. I know its cynical to think but this situation is very real: Say a rich or famous guy meets a girl at a bar or where ever and they end up hooking up. Say for whatever reason, she either planned it all along or even just gets pissed because the guy doesnt call her. She can go to the hospital, get a rape kit without anything being reported to the police and the hospital will hang on to the dna without contacting police. Thus giving the woman the opportunity to contact the man and say, if you dont give me "X" Im going to report this as rape. Now, even if you could end up proving your innocence later on. You would still have to pay for a lawyer, go to court, and most importantly everyone would know you were accused of rape. For the rest of your life that will stick with you. Or even if a married guy cheats on his wife a girl could blackmail him because he more than likely would pay so his wife wouldnt find out. I agree that something needed to be done to make the 60% of rapes that go unreported come out so that people cant get away with them as easily. I just hope they have a plan to prevent false accusations. Look at Duke Lacrosse...Maybe, make the punishment for a false accusation or extortion the same punishment as the rape itself. I know that sounds harsh, but people have to be too scared to try and do that and harsh punishment might be the only way. Now see, I would rather have people scared to try raping someone, and any tools that help that are fine by me. I have to imagine the number of false rape accusations are NOTHING compared to the number of rapes in this country.
  17. This is long over due... Rape has to be one of the worst crimes out there because the victim is almost always put on trial just as much as the rapists are. "she wanted it" "she said "no" but she didn't mean it" "look how she was dressed"... They bring up their sex lives, their histories, and everything else that can be used to discredit the victim. There is a reason that it is the most underreported violent crime out there.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) my gf thinks im a jerk, but good god i am so glad jim didnt end up proposing to pam...i was so happy..here i am thinking the office is going all "romantic" on me, and poof what happens....the hilarity of andy proposing to angela instead of jim to pam...props to the writers for choosing humor over romance....
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Because he flip flopped on this issue. He was for talking to Hamas before he was against it. Or he doesn't have the attack machine in place that Obama does... Either way, its incredibly two faced. Both of the Democratic candidates are out there every single stinking time they open their mouths saying stuff like this about George Bush. I guess they are the only ones allowed to make callous and calculated shots at people? Please. They should be embarassed. All Biden is doing is trying to impress someone so they will put him on the ballot in November as a VP candidate. Obama lies every single time he gets up there and says he is going be different. He is already running the same proxy attack machine that both Clinton and Bush have run for decades now.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:37 AM) The same terrorists McCain suggested we should talk to. Hmm I wonder why John McCain isn't having all of his surrogates cry about this on the campaign trail then?
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) Who was he referring to? Based on his approval rating I will have to disagree. That's what I can't wait to return to... 4 years of approval ratings running the country again.
  22. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ May 15, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) Wow, the finale was great. Very eventful. Seriously, that was the funniest parts of the whole episode. I was falling out of my chair laughing as some of those scenes.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 07:52 AM) I had to scratch my head after reading this on MSNBC's First Read: Why? He is actually doing what a legislator should be doing, representing his consituants, instead of his own self-interests. Good for him.
  24. Seriously, after all of the things I have seen GWB called and compared to over the past 7.5 years, there is some nerve being pissed off about this. Every day on the campaign trail stuff is said similar to this. Maybe if both of the Dems whole platform wasn't based off of Bush's term, they woudl have some room to complain. Now Bush does the samething and all of the sudden he is bad for it? Yeah, nothing is going to change if Obama wins, because he is the exact same politician as Hillary and George... An opportunist looking to make something out of anything. Change my ass.
